i always heard that thunderbolts that get replaced by wss are replaced with 2001-130s. i've also heard that the 2001-130 is total crap. i believe the thunderbolt is a quality tornado siren. it's attention getting, the sound carries very far, and it sounds more distinct from other sounds. the 2001-130 sounds more like a fire truck siren and is not as attention getting. the fire truck siren sound just blends in with other sounds and when in attack, the rotation makes it sound like a fire truck driving by and people won't think about a tornado, they'll think "oh, just a fire truck." and the people die in the tornado. if wss absolutely needs to replace a tornado siren, and wants to use one still in production, wss should install a T-128. one of the most effective single toned electromechanical tornado sirens on the market today as far as i know.
You could not be more wrong. The 2001 is by far one of the most reliable sirens out there. Thunderbolt sirens are great too, but they aren't as reliable. If your bitching about them replacing old sirens with new ones, they replace thunderbolts with older sirens too. The owner loves thunderbolts himself, so you have no reason to make an ass of yourself and bitch about it.
