I owned a 1979 Cherokee 6-300 from 1997 to 2000. It was one of the finest I’ve owned. A great family aircraft with room, power and useful load to spare. Mine was pristine in every way! My wife absolutely loved it. Air conditioning was a wonderful option. Climbing the airplane ladder at the time...made it to a Piper Mirage, another fabulous bird. Great video and beautiful airplane...think long and hard before you sell it, they are tough to replace! Best!!

I would still own the plane but my Mom died at 90 and I sold the plane when I turned 70. I decided to let the younger generation (like this extremely knowledgeable young man in the video) have all the fun. lol

That's pretty slick. I've been contemplating getting one of these for my family of 6. I prefer a high wing but I love the wide cabin and the much lower cost of getting into a nice older one.

I owned a Cherokee Six 260 for 15 years and it was an awesome plane. I flew it countless times from my base in Georgia to Florida. My Mom lived it Orlando and had congestive heart failure so I made many trips. Even flew it to the Bahamas. Flew to visit my siblings in Tennessee countless times. Flew to visit the USAF museum at Wright Patterson in Dayton Ohio. They are extremely reliable and the 260 can even lift its own empty weight in people and baggage and fuel. Mine had the 4 fuel tanks and I had a timer installed in the intercom system to manage fuel. (Extremely important to keep the weight distributed evenly). For a large family they are a lifesaver. Burning 10 + gallons per hour and carrying a family of 4, 5, or 6 is a lot cheaper than that many airline tickets. (after Corona virus runs its course).

When ELTs became mandatory, Piper always installed a remote unit back in the aft fuselage, usually CIR-11 or Narco ELT 10. Those little yellow ones that were mounted in the cabin on the wall were after market. You also left out a speed mod: the covers over the screws holding the fuel tanks into the wings. The trouble with those covers is once in a while you have to take those tanks out to fix a leak, replace a faulty fuel quantity sender, or comply with an AD note looking for corrosion. For the trouble removing them I think you will spend more time getting them off than they would save you in the air. A friend of mine landed after a freight run with a load of ice on a Cherokee Six 300, that still defies the laws of aerodynamics. He said if he had a shotgun he would have opened the side window and shot at the wing leading edge.

Hi!! Great video on this great airplane.
I've got about 1500 hrs flown without any problem on Cherokee 6 and Saratoga.
I used to put towbar, chocks and spare oil in the front bagage compartment for quick access and to prevent oil spills in the cabin.

I'veflown one with 8 extra seats... Still took off with 900ft roll heavy. Landed with a 500 ft roll. It had tiptanks that looked like yours which helped with take off performance and range. Up to half tank it would be a sloooow fatty(which would help a lot in bad weather) but after that it would get back to normal. I still think it was a wiser choice over the Cessna 310... Lower maintenance... Reliability... I don't know. Which one do you prefer. I've been wondering... Cause I ended up buying one and am about to start working on it to be just like that one I flew... Tiptanks with extra lift design... Anyways... Some people have been telling me to get a cessna 310... Interior could be modified( I already got my 6/300 the 2 extra seats... Quite tight... Still confortable enough.
