This is very helpful. My daughter is a Zeta, and they’re doing a photo shoot tomorrow including headshots! I’m nervous, mostly about setting powder which she doesn’t use at all in her makeup routine, but her oils take over and I’ve been telling her that she needs to set her base! So now I’m trying to figure out which powders to take. That’s where you helped me, I will take my Pat McGrath. I’m also considering Charlotte Tilbury, but I have the shade tan I believe and it’s a little light. I don’t Bake because it ages my undereye, but I’m considering should I bake her undereye.

I like Pretty Vulgar “Matte About it” translucent (like OG Laura mercier if she were even more finely milled) first, and then, Fenty “Cashew” is my favorite combo. I will do Makeup Revolution loose setting powder in Beige as a dupe for Cashew. Sometimes Ill take a powder like Pat McGrath’s or Hourglass veil powder and lightly dust on top of those with a brush at the end for the blurring effect. On darker clients, I like the ABH “Deep Peach” to give the same effect of a neutral brightening shade, especially if they are oily because ABH is matte as hell. Lol I recently wore the honey shade of LM and I’m still trying to figure out if I like it with flash 😅

@@Shannon-yz9eb I find it cakey and my undereyes crease and look crepey if I don’t prep right. I guess it’s too matte for undereyes (for me)? I suggest using an eye cream or moisturizing your under eyes if you are gonna use it. It usually looked better when I did.

@@BrianaDoesStuff MR has amaaaaaazing products overall but their setting powders are terrible. A few months ago I got their Revolution Pro loose powder (in the rose gold packaging) and it was so chunky! I feel like I’ve tried a million affordable loose powders and all of them have been terrible. On the other hand all of the high end ones I’ve tried have been finely milled and not too drying.

I came to testify about tteh Laura Mercier Honey translucent powder. It is a Yes and a YASSSSS , I just go tit in the Sephora VIB sale and I was amazed at not only the color and blending BUT the formula. Why is this formula does not feel the same with the medium deep color to me that I was using all over my face previously?? I feel like they are two different formulas - the medium deep does not have the same blend ability and kinds of just sits onto of the skin instead of melting into the skin. I mix it with the Fenty in chocolate (which smells great!!) fo ray overall face and like them together - instead of alone. I will use the Fenty when I am using tinted moisturizers because it adds a nice light layer of coverage over these.
I have 51 y.o. WOC skin; not problematic & no wrinkles. I DO however have fine lines under my eyes. TF caramel loose powder, Pretty Vulgar translucent & Dermablend Warm Saffron 😘😍👍🏾

Messed up and was using the fenty powder with the fenty concealer. Tragic. I was going to give up on the powder then I used with Nars concealer. A lovely combo. Do you recommend a better powder for the fenty concealer or should I give up on it?

Laura’s honey is a new love of mine! My other two holy grails are the yellow Beauty Bakerie powder and the Too Faced loose peach powder. Huda’s loose powder has a fantastic finish too but I just can’t stand that strong fragrance enough to repurchase it.

That goes to show that different skin textures will affect the outcome of a makeup look. I know for a fact that my texture differs from your because I found that waterproof setting powder to be total trash, I took it back after buying it on sale. I have combination skin, and on a hot day I have to put a ton of Fenty setting powder on, so it’s not as resistant for me. I do think that the finer milled powders are more user friendly though- i.e. Laura Mercier and Cover FX. Fenty’s a lil fluffy but no where near as thick as Makeup Revolution or Juvias, those two I just can’t! I’d go with Airspun at Walmart over those two!
