- Tulip bulb planting with specially modified John Deere 8360RT with a Koops planter for 2.25 meter wide beds and a Hegro bunker-roof with a capacity for 8 crates of bulbs.
The bulbs are plated between double netting this way they are more easily lifted out of the ground without soil during harvest.
The field is prepared using various New Holland T7 tractors. First the cover crop is cultivated with a rotary tiller after that it's ploughed and the last pass is to creat a seedbed using a power harrow.
On the headland there is a Hegro loading station is used to fill the plant tractors bunker in a few seconds. The conveyer belt is controlled with an RC remote on the planting tractor.

Vorig jaar is dit bedrijf volledig overgestapt om netten teelt op 2.25 bedden. De nieuwe plant combinatie bestaat uit een John Deere 8360RT rupstrekker, Hegro plantdak en Koops netten planter.

Yet again Tractorspotter has raised the bar with this humble video about planting tulip bulbs. We are treated to a birds eye view of the equipment arriving at the field, we see the various tractors and the functions that they perform and to top it all off we get a bulb view point of the planting process in and under the machine. Well done Tractorspotter I will never look at a packet of tulip bulbs the same way again because I will be thinking of this video.
Canadian's love tulips. Stems from WW II when Canada sheltered the Dutch Royal Family and sold to Holland the embassy grounds, passing a Parlimentary Law declaring it Dutch territory, so the royal baby (soon to be born) could do so on Dutch soil! The grateful Dutch people, gifted tulip bulbs to Canada in appreciation. Holland and Canada remain close.

The Dutch are still very grateful of the sacrifices the Canadians (and others) have made in the liberation of The Netherlands in WW2. People living around military cemeteries adopt graves so they can take care of them. Families use that opportunity to teach their kids the personal family stories/history of the liberation. Children and other caretakers try to learn more about the fallen soldiers whose graves they take care of. If it becomes clear that the soldiers family doesn’t know their (grand)father/uncle/brother/cousin is buried there, they will make sure it becomes known. czcams.com/video/akZ-Qx2Pmzk/video.html When the U.S. organisation responsible for upkeep of their military cemeteries is looking for locals to help/adopt graves, they never have to look for long. Often there is even a waiting list.
The detail in these shots is amazing! You really have captured the inner workings of the machinery with incredible focus!
Boy that planter is certainly a specialized bit of equipment! But for the acreage planted it sure makes sense to have a special machine like that. Excellent video quality, and an excellent job and visually explaining the process and what the equipment does.

This is really cool to see since here in Canada I'm pretty sure we never plant tulips on this scale :) Had no idea such a specialized vehicle existed!
That net makes it easier to harvest tulip bulbs,they must bring in good money to cover the cost of that equipment. Yjay planter really does a great job, I like watching how things work and Tractorspotter is the best at filming the working of farm equipment.
dimduk well on Clay soil they don 't need to put straw on top for the winter. So the cost is around the same as before because they could't plant on only Sandy soils

Ultimately the giving and receiving of tulips is a romantic act of love. The occasional musical sound track interspersed in the mechanical sounds reminds me of a romantic movie 😂

how long do tulips stay in the ground before they are harvested? Just one season?
They are planted in October (fall), topped in April (spring) and harvested in July (summer).

Ja klopt, dat werkt meestal makkelijkste. Zorg wel dat je een sterke magneet gebruikt. Ik heb ook een klem van Gopro ( heet geloof ik Jaws oid) die ik gebruik voor als er geen metalen oppervlak is waar ik de magneet kan gebruiken.
Zo' n klem heb ik inderdaad ook. Welke magneet heb jij, en hoe weet je of die sterk is?

its so you can just pull the bulbs out with the net when harvesting them

the little ones are planted. It grows into a big one with small ones attached. Those small ones are planted again, the big ones are sold.
