I don't think that is what she said. I believe she is in a tough spot because the FBI report is still in process. You wouldn't go to court and be put on trial without the proper evidence having been investigated, would you? Look, she may resign, she maybe will be found culpable, but this hearing took place without the proper investigations having been completed.

I'm three hours in. Democrats and Republicans have not been this unified in a long time.
I think no matter how divided the two sides are Cheatle's handling was truly incompetent, and especially given the type of job she has and what is demanded, what transpired was a wake up call and mobilized the two parties to find out how it failed.

Believe me. They're still divided. It was clear to me who was a dem/lib and who wasn't. The dems all spoke about gun violence to Cheatle despite her being able to do nothing about it. Which I think is an audacious waste of time. And the reps and very few dems actually devoted their time to railing Cheatle.
Yet they still took the opportunity to bring up how they disagree with how gun laws are handled, regardless of how irrelevant it is.

She says "the buck stops with me", she says "I take full responsibility", she agrees that the event was a "catastrophic failure" by her organization, BUT SHE HASN'T EVEN VISITED the site yet, after 9 days!! She has NOT visited the site of the most catastrophic security failure and it's been 9 days. THAT is gross negligence in and of itself. She should resign immediately.

He was responsible for all the actions of his employees, but he knew how not to micromanage.

It can be about both, you know. It doesn’t have to be black & white. No one with two brain cells to rub together would disagree it was a colossal failure on the part of the secret service. But the stats on mass shootings in 2023, & 2024 to date, should make everyone sick & be plainly obvious that this is also an issue of access to weapons of war by nut bars.

I think any congress member who mentioned or spoke at length about banning guns and weapons of war instead of meaningfully contributing to getting to the bottom of this failure and oversight, should issue a public apology. I also recommend they go and study the events of the prohibition. I am reasonably convinced that this "bipartisan" hearing was only bipartisan so the dems could spread their anti-gun propaganda. What’s crazy is the local cops and the secret service were on separate radio frequencies. So when the local cops found the shooter, there was no quick way to alert the secret service to it and get him off the stage. So the shooter did that job for them. What an absolute logistical joke.
