    In the channel A Thousand Splendid Dolls Shelly always uses stain catchers when washing doll clothes. I guess that is helpful. If you have not taken a look a that channel I really recommend it.

    I’ve run a vintage clothing business for 12+ years, dye bleed on fabric like this is really common. There is a product called Synthropal that’s is amazing for dye run, it’s my first go to. If that doesn’t work Carbona color run powder is fantastic but can over strip if you aren’t careful. I agree with trying vinegar at first as well.

    I used an Oxi product on a vintage fashion doll dress once. It melted -- I think it was a rayon. So I avoid Oxi products for washing doll clothes since.
    I love the way your doll's hair came out! Great job.

    I have had good results using dawn dish soap on hair & clothes because it cuts through any oils & grim. Even as a pre-wash for the hair, then followup with a conditioner. For lace & white things I use peroxide (it's a bit more gentle than bleach), sometimes baking soda with a touch of dish soap

    Vinegar can help and some people use color catchers. I have never tried those. I have had a lot of trouble with the red dye in vintage CPK clothes and with the blue dye in the jean outfits. It's really frustrating, especially when it transfers to other parts of the outfit that were not red or blue. :(

    • @ALT-vz3jn
      @ALT-vz3jn Před rokem

      I’ve had the exact same experience with brightly-colored CPK clothes. I put a color catcher in the water and use ice-cold water with woolite, and just soak them the minimum amount of time to get them clean. One of my boy dolls has the bear overalls outfit with a striped top and the red stripes bled all over. Fortunately I was able to get the bleeding out, but yeah I was freaking 😂

    Ice and vinegar together will lock the dye in. I would bleach with your paste the cuffs and lace just be careful it can fall apart if bleached to hard. I kinda of like the dress now, personally. I know things like that can be so frustrating; she looks so much better. 👍👏🎆 have you ever tried after your woolite doing delicates fabric softener ( a nicer one) it's can work like a deep conditioner and shine treatment it will help with those ends.

    • @MunecasPoupeesDolls
      @MunecasPoupeesDolls  Před 3 lety +3

      I have used fabric softener on hair plenty of times but I don't like to use it on more expensive dolls because it can get sort of sticky and gross over time sometimes. I usually only use it on cheaper dolls or as a last resort.

    If none of the dye removal techniques work, you could reverse course and age it more for an antique look as a consolation. (Tea stain, distressed fabric paint, that idea).

    It is too bad about the color bleeding. I use braid spray or wig spray (made for synthetic hair) to treat the hair that is frizzy. It has a plasticizer in it to fix the really dry frizzy hair. I haven't been able to find the Sun of a Gun around where I live.

    Just a quick question, what do you do when a dolls hair becomes sticky? I have tried washing all the product out, but it usually just makes the hair more sticky. It happens with lots of Barbies.

    • @MunecasPoupeesDolls
      @MunecasPoupeesDolls  Před 3 lety +1

      I don't know if there's much you can do, I think it's the actual hair chemically degrading but I'm not really sure.

    • @ALT-vz3jn
      @ALT-vz3jn Před rokem

      Some Barbies have gross adhesive leakage in their hair. Happens a lot with dolls from around 2008-2013. I use Goof Off professional liquid adhesive remover, and it’s worked every time. It smells awful and you need to use gloves, but it really gets all the stickiness out and it’s never ruined the Barbie hair. I’ve even used it on hair with tinsel and it didn’t harm the tinsel at all. Also it doesn’t hurt the paint on their faces.

    May not be a vintage dress, but a knock-off. 🥺

    • @ALT-vz3jn
      @ALT-vz3jn Před rokem

      I would say it’s more than likely a vintage dress precisely because of the color bleed. I’ve washed many vintage doll outfits, and color bleeding is a common issue; they weren’t able to fix bright colors as well as they can today.
