Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II a descendant of Queen Victoria was escorted to a place of honor by the former Governor General of Fiji Ratu Sir George Cakobau, formerly the Vunivalu of Bau and direct descendant of Ratu Seru Cakobau.
After the entertainment, the Queen and her party visited the island church. As for many previous regal occasions, the stately Grand Pacific Hotel was the venue for the official state banquet hosted by Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara and Adi Lady Lala Mara. The Royal visits were only timed to last two and a half days, held its finale a brief visit to Lautoka. Her Majesty visited Lautoka hospital before departing Nadi International Airport for England.
