Diamonds are kept at an artificially high price. Only a fraction of what is mined is allowed to go on sale. If what is mined were to be put on the market prices would fall unbelievable low. The miners work in horrible conditions.
I just watched another doc that happened to talk about the hope diamons and its history is not sure the diamond sold to louis was orginally 112 carats then it was cut into what's called the french blue which is 68 carats(not 100% on the weights but around there also not sure if another diamond(s) was made from the huge stone but most likely did cuz they don't waste it) and the french blue was lost after the french revolution it is possible the hope diamond was cut from the french blue since its 45 carats.
the only true curse about any particular diamond is the power of lust enough by others bold enough to desire and remove possession of it from "a current owner" but just for another interim of time for this cycle of lust shall never end ~
