    Bomber Command defence tactics demonstrated at Wittering, Northamptonshire.
    L/S Victor Mark IIs (V-bombers) on tarmac RAF (Royal Air Force) base. Pan to C/U of them. Panning shot RAF officers arriving at operations centre.
    Interior. L/S as officers - the Quick Reaction Alert crew - walking along corridors to vault. Officer knocks on door. C/U as door is opened from inside. Another officer hands out the "Go Bag", containing information crew needs to go into action. M/S crew go into target study room, they shut the door for a top secret meeting.
    Panning shot Blue Steel nuclear missile on carrier. L/S missile by the aircraft. Panning C/U the missile. C/U Blue Steel trainer room. Interior: the crew in trainer room. Pan to C/U of principle officer holding "Go-Bag". Various C/Us loud speakers as scramble call is announced. M/S alert crew in trainer room running out. L/S another crew having their lunch, they hear the alert and run out. C/U half-eaten dinner getting cold.
    C/U QRA crew car driving out. Panning L/S car drives away. L/S ground crew running from huts. L/S as they run past camera towards aeroplanes. C/U guard dog and military policeman. L/S ground crew preparing bombers for take off. C/U members of ground crew opening aircraft door. L/S QRA crew arriving in car. They get out and run to aircraft. Elevated shot crew running up steps to aircraft. C/U ditto. M/S chocs being pulled away. C/U member of ground crew watching. Panning shot Victor bomber taxiing. Panning shot first Victor takes off. Pan another Victor plane takes off.

    I don't know if it's reassuring that the efficient deployment of the British nuclear deterrent depended on a Standard Ensign estate car starting first time.

      Well, it did, because it was the De Luxe model. They were as reliable as a Ferguson tractor.

      On one QRA Vulcan practice the Vanguard which was plugged into a charging point and as the crew set off the plug stayed put and ripped the cable out the wall causing a fire which enveloped the building and caused a blackout .

    Excellent, agreed. And...where are they, and what's left of the RAF, now? One lives not far from me. Nice guy, likes dahlias.

    pretty sure the drive of that car didn't fill out the ATUD before setting off! he should be sent to MT control
