Yep, That color I think it´s called "Petrol Blue" by Cupra, and Cupra cars looks so good in that color with the copper details, logo and wheels.

I actually know a person that owns the 150hp one, so there might be a bigger market for the car than we think.
of course there is a market for it... its design is using many design elements that are "trendy" right now (which is also why it won't look good in a few years, too many similar designs will be around)
But the point made in the video is, that this just doesn't fit the image the brand "Cupra" wants to portray.

There's currently a worldwide shortage of CPUs they use in cars, hence why the long delivery times
Delivery of the facelift Cupra Ateca was also at 8+ months last year well into covid. That happens when you have a global problem and pump out cars for dirt cheap (relatively to what you get) to get more market share.
Well vag strategies are better than toyota and stellantis, since being in less markets, they sell more vehicles, but they can do better of course, since skoda is cheap but wont let seat or cupra have sedan
Plenty of shortcuts for the infotainment screen when you read the manual, so don't worry about it being all touch sensitive. No gas strut isn't a problem for the sake or reaching slightly downwards to keep it open manually.

This design lends itself more to light/bright colours, that's why I don't understand why we see all those dark Formentors all the time. Really not the best colours for this car with those lines. Seen it in some of the lighter colours and it makes a huge difference.

As a Golf GTE (mk 7.5) owner, the hybrid Formentor seems like a perfect upgrade in the years ahead as I hate Mk.8 looks. Plus less tax on a car, cause Norway...

Here in germany it is rumored that seat will be replaced by cupra. That might be the answer to your question why they added all these low power motors.
With the individual driving profile you can even have a stiffer setup then with the Cupra - DCC is just amazing in this car - (lets not talk about the infotaiment) ;)
Jep, thought the same. In my individual settings the dcc is set stiffer than the cupra setting. Dcc is really good with a wide spread between comfort and sportiness.
Cupra branding is wayy cooler than seat, they did the right thing. Many folks even 2 years later sometimes turn around and go wtf is that + it drives really well for what it is: a layman's affordable "exotic".

I totally agree with you about the brand positioning. I own the cupra formentor vz and imo its a great car but i think it is a mistake to produce underpowered cupras with low horsepower. These are no real cupras imo and my 310 hp Formentor is nothing special when there are 150 PS Formentors on the road. As you said, cupra in the future is more like a design gag and i will change the brand after my Formentor. But it is really a good and fun car.
You get some people introduced to the cupra brand. They'll want the big one. Not bad to get some money for introducing your brand to people by selling an entry level trim.

Agreed, there are so many cars around the world and most of them does not make any sense actually... Same goes for smart phones too. Just too much.
So, I think the reason they also sell a 1.5 150hp version of this car is, is because countries like Turkey for example take taxes according to the size of the engine. When the engine size surpasses 1.6, the tax money you pay is three times more than what you would pay for the 1.5 engine.

The design of the car is perfect expect the center console. It doesn't fit to the amazing interior. They could have used the gear lever from the Ateca. 🔥
absolutely! VW uses this disgusting little thing in a lot of their new cars. The new a3 has it and it is one of the main reasons why i am not anymore into a3 as my most loved car, the new golf has it as well... i think its just cheap!

Wrong the 150 hp doesnt have 4 exhausts, this is the 310 hp, so the vz5 wont look like the 150 hp

And pt.2: to cupra be truly the alfa romeo of volkswagen group, vag should give cupra a giulia, but vag said no, the sedans go to skoda and vw, and this is the mistake vag does when having so many brands, cupra has to be the sportier version of a volkswagen, and they should make skoda like dacia
The reason for the 1.5 liter is for countries that are way worse than the Netherlands with taxes for cars like turkey if you have an engine bigger then 1.6 the price doubles

Their naming strategy about the Cupra brand might not makes sense to you, or most of us, but they surely calculated it that it will make them a lot more money with additional engine options, speciall in this nice Formentor. and I guess if you owned a company would not decline a few (ten) millions extra? Or would you say "nah let's waste millions, so some people will be more pleased with our naming schemes"

Just tried a VZ 310.. For a couple of days.. my feeling is quite mixed..the ridiculous fake v8 engine sound, the general low quality built feeling, the lack of stiffness , the steering , gear,throttle slow response...if you are bmw m addict. Like me ..forget about it ...
Im not sure if its only me, but I like the looks of Seat more than VW and Skoda, even though Seat is the cheapest of them.

You don't understand the branding, you don't understand the product... I belive you don't understand the automotive industry. Driving in a straight line does not make you an expert... This Cupra is great product for its price. It addresses all wants of price sensitive motoring enthusiasts: higher sitting position, enough power, pops and bangs and yes fake sound through the speakers. I'm not surprised this is under Cupra and it's not the same car. The ingredients may be same as Leon but the finish and fine tuning makes it totally different. Skodas have VW and Audi parts. But the producer also did different tuning and finish. Driving an Audi and a Skoda will tell you immediately its a different product!

15/20 years ago, there was a trend for that 'sport packet' where everybody had an option to buy model that looked cooler and sportier. BMW has mpack, audi has sline, wv has rline, honda type s and so on.. I guess buyers are fed up with it because everybody knows that this packet is just an pure cosmetic, without any performance so everybody knows that with this badge there isnt anything cool under the hood, it's just the look.
Now 'Cupra' is something similar but not the same. Instead of some fancy sport pack name badge, it is just a brand. And other ppl when they line up to you in traffic light really dont know, if you have 150hp or 310hp(or something more), so buyer who buys this can fake it and be proud that somebody will think that he has a real engine in there but in reality it is just a sport look steel box on wheels that dosent do anything more than take you from point A to B with great fuel consumption.
And YES there is a big market for this fake sport looks. :)

they pobably making the diffrent version of this car because of to make this car affordable in diffrent countries. For example in Turkey goverment takes too much taxes over a car like %220 and %100 and this goes more and more. İf the car has a smaller engine taxes are gettin lower.
