    Your genuine enthusiasm is fantastic. The way I like to see l'Orangerie is to start at the top floor and work my way down, with the Nympheas being the grand finale.

      @@TravelwithLizzie Life is for enjoying and l'Orangerie has been a pleasure of mine for decades.
      I am a glutton for pleasure and beauty.
      I have been to Paris 20 times or more. There are a few things I never miss and this is one of them.
      Typically, the plane from the U.S. lands between 8 and 9 in the morning and one of the ways I overcome jet lag is to get a big dose of sunshine by taking a nice walk.
      I like to arrive, drop off my luggage wherever I am staying, and take the Metro to somewhere like Chatelet or Saint Germain des Pres and take a nice walk to and through the Tuileries, then go through l'Orangerie to give myself a sumptuous dose of delicious culture.
      This way, the pleasure builds and there is appreciation for the exercise after 8 or 9 hours on a plane and the knowledge that the sunlight is helping my body's time clock to adjust.
      By the time I get to the Nympheas, I am ready to sit a while, and where is a better place to do so?
      It's good to have incentive to stay and enjoy this exquisite pleasure, occasionally moving to a different position.
      What follows is another walk in the sun, luxuriating in the passionate feeling I have for this grand lady of a city, so happy to be with her again, feeling the vibrations that never fail to comfort and delight.

    Did you book your ticket for The LÓrangerie before you arrived in Paris? Or are tickets available say 3 days in advance? When I come to Paris that is the museum I really want to see, so I don't want to fly thousands of miles only to find it is booked out 🙂Thank you.

      I booked in advance online as I was there peak summer and wanted the first time slot of the day to avoid the crowds ☺️

    They required to you in the entrance your ID or something to pass and verify the name that you used in your prebooking?

    • @TravelwithLizzie
      @TravelwithLizzie  Před 10 měsíci

      No ID checks. Security checked I had the right time on my ticket then sent me through security before my ticket was scanned. I found no museum in Paris checked my ID but they were all strict on ticket timeslots (if applicable).

    What a ditz! 45 seconds into the video and I'm already underwhelmed by someone who has this dreamy puérile concept of art. First of all, unquestionably, unequivocally, the Louvre is the best museum in all of France and possibly in the world. Next, we have a number of museums which might vie for the 2nd best museum in Paris and is probably more a matter of taste or interest than absolute ranking and l'Orangerie is certainly not in the running. Probably Musée d'Orsay would take second but an argument could be made for the Musée de Cluny (Musée du Moyen Age). Other candidates are the Musée Carnavalet, musée Marmottan, musée Rodin, Jacquemart-André, le Petit Palais and more.

    • @TravelwithLizzie
      @TravelwithLizzie  Před měsícem

      I’ve always wanted to be called a ditz, so thank you so much! Please remember art is subjective, as it’s an expression of personal perspective - so we will all have our preferences and favourites, however ditzy it may seem to another person.
      I agree, the Louvre has an incredible and extensive collection… however I find it’s nice to take in a collection pint size (without the crush of people and overwhelming number of pieces). The Musée d’Orsay is my favourite of the big museums in Paris (have a video on that too).
      Thank you for sharing your perspective! Always value hearing others opinions 🫶
