I always got the impression he is singing to a girl and comparing her actions in gambling to her relationships, she always wins and walks away before things go bad. Only thinking of herself and she has never changed. That's my take anyway. Great song.
That was an interesting observation.
YES! Exactly! That's always been my take on it too!
Agree.
Totally agree!
totally
Bob Seger is a national treasure - music, arrangements, lyrics, production - always first class - a seasoned professional.
This is my favorite Seger song with the heavy piano sound and great backup singers and like you said the other great production values.
Very meaningful music
Don't see that no mo.
I’ve been rocking with Bob Seger since I was in High School…and I’m 71! He’s a titan of American Rock!
He needs a spot on your wall
…wall…wall…wall…wall…🤣🤣🤣
I’ve never thought that Bob was singing about a guy that’s good at gambling. I have always interpreted this song as he’s talking about a woman who he used to date. “Moving game to game” meaning relationships and using guys to get what she wants. He sees her years later and recognizes all her old tricks. “There you stood, everybody watched you play; I just turned and walked away; I had nothing left to say; 'Cause you're still the same”
You got it.
This
I couldn't agree more!!
Yes, exactly! I was really disappointed Amber didn’t pick up on this.
Excellent interpretation.
Night Moves
Night Moves
Night Moves
I can’t believe you still haven’t done Night Moves! It’s one of his best and well know songs! C’mon, you need to do it and soon. You already know you won’t be disappointed with a Bob Seger song
I know. Crazy.
Been recommending this for over a year…..lol
One of my favorite Bob Seger songs is "We've got tonight"
I had always felt this song was about an old lover, that likes to play games with the men in her life, as he was once burnt by her.
Bob Seger was my Dads favorite artist. Named his boat NIGHT MOVES...RIP Dad
Love Bob Seger!! “You’ll Accomp’ny Me!! Is still my favorite!!🤘🔥
Mine also.
YUP!!❤🎉
Love it!!
What a song! Great mention
Yes! The live 1980 version is phenomenal!
Bob Seger is an Icon!! Check out "NIGHT MOVES". When he sings you know it's him. Legend!! Love him.
“Night Moves”, you keep missing it. It’s one of his very best
Bob Seger doesn't have a bad song. Love this one!
Bob Seger is one of those artists that it is impossible to pick one favourite song. I stopped even trying many years ago and just decided that it is OK for them all to be my favourite.
Bob Seger is one of a kind! His music is one of the few that is going to live on forever. His voice is so distinctive and you know it is him when he starts singing.
BOB SEGER:
“NIGHT MOVES “
please guys!! This one is SO good!!
They have done it before
I checked through all their reactions and they haven’t done Night Moves yet.
@@sparkyth67 They have? It must be blocked then.
@@susanliltz3875 yes they have I remember watching it. Might have been blocked since
It's available. I watched it today @@susanliltz3875
Bob Seger was HUGE in the 70's, he had several hits back then (All Good Ones). I graduated from high school, joined the Army and got married all in the 70's. so I remember that decade very well.
We were so spoiled musically back then it was almost illegal. The good radio stations were playing hit after hit after hit after hit. To give you an example, imagine hearing these artists being played back to back to back, Elvis, The Beatles, Simon & Garfunkel, The Carpenters, The Guess Who, B.J. Thomas, The Jackson Five, Diana Ross & The Supremes, Rare Earth, Three Dog Night, The Bee Gees, Franki Valli & The Four Seasons, Bread, Neil Diamond, Marvin Gaye, CCR, Chicago, The Four Tops, The Spinners, Aretha Franklin, Tom Jones, The Temptations, Rod Stewart, Carole King, John Denver, The Rolling Stones, Bill Withers, The Grass Roots, The Doors, The 5th Dimension, Roberta Flack, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Al Green, The Hollies, America, Elton John, Ricky Nelson, Cher, Jim Croce, Carly Simon, Don McLean, Jackson Browne, Stevie Wonder, Fleetwood Mac, Grand Funk Railroad, Queen, Leo Sayer, The Eagles, BTO, Bob Seger and MANY MANY MANY other GREAT songs and artists the DJ's could pick and choose from.
Also remember that all those awesome songs from the 50's and 60's would sometimes be interjected into the playlist making them even better. So yeah, all of us that were around back then were spoiled rotten musically. It was an AMAZING time to be alive, I wish someone would invent a time machine, I think A LOT of us would go back to those times in a New York second.
Amen brother. And remember that Seeger's keyboardist came over from Grand Funk Railroad, Craig Frost....
“NIGHT MOVES” is the answer to ALL of the questions. It’s a song that makes me exquisitely nostalgic for a moment in time that I never actually experienced.
Seger never disappoints, next one should be “Come to Poppa” because it’s a tough, gritty song.
Come see yo papa.....👍💯
You’ll Accomp’ny Me is a great Bob Seager song
Yes, yes!! Doesn't get the attention it deserves!!!
Love this song! Rock and Roll Never Forgets by Bob Seger, that's the one you need to hear next!
Definitely my FAVORITE Bob Seger Song. He is a true icon. Great musicianship and the back up singers make it even better. Can listen to this song over and over and over. Peace.
I agree.
Me too!!🌸
I don't know how you choose a favourite Bob Seger song... I can't, I usually think it's Roll Me Away, but then the next time it's something else.
Dude, he is one the best artists ever. I don't think enough people don't give him credit for how many great songs he had and his unique great voice
Turn the page is another great one!!!😊
Still the Same... is one of my favorite Bob Seger songs. He is an incredible storyteller.
Bob is the GOAT! He all ways plays with heart and soul. Thanks for the smile.
My favorite Bob Seger song. That piano intro is perfect and the drums are killer. And don't even get me started on the vocals.
And the back up singers!
My favorite too!!❤
Easily my all-time favorite Bob Seger song! Love the piano, the backing vocals, and I love the way he slides the notes!
Bob doesn’t cheat you with his words and voice. I’ve just recently subscribed to you and am rabbit holing your channel. You both are incredible and as a 70 year old it makes me feel good that the great music of my high school and after days is not lost to the future because of people like you sharing it. ❤
So many fantastic songs in the catalog, but my all time favorite remains the same.
“Roll Me Away” ✌🏼😎🇺🇸
Gotta go back to his roots. Rambin’ Gamblin’ Man was Bob’s first hit. Its an up beat Rocker🎼🎶🎼🤠
This entire album always takes me back to the summer of 1978 when I moved away from home. Still the Same is my all-time favorite Seeger song. Every song on that Stranger In Town album is a banger. I recommend "Feel Like a Number".
Bob is the ultimate story teller, we are blessed to have his music as Amber pointed out, next time you play bob please do "Come to Poppa" and "Trying to live my life with out you", both bangers
"Trying to Live My Life Without You" is a great one!
An absolute gem to check out is The Famous Final Scene .. I believe it's Bob at his best ..and I think you guys will also .. Peace and Love
An incredible song. One of my favorite songs by Seger. The song is so well written. While it is about a gambler but the deeper meaning is about a guy who has this way about him that everyone takes to and over the years he is still the same and does not change and because of it he finds the guy pathetic years later. Bob had said in an interview this is like having a friend who has a lot of charisma, which you are drawn to but has many flaws but yet you still are drawn to him because of his charisma but after time of not seeing your friend you see that nothing has changed when you do reconnect while you have changed and you no longer see the charm that was once there. The song disguises all of this in the gambler story but when reading b/w the lines you get the message. I love good writers that don't just tell a story to you on its face, they make you think and peel the layers back to discover the deeper meaning of their songs.
I cannot believe you haven't done this yet. One of the best!
"Ramblin Gamblin' Man" was Bobs first song that got national attention. His manager got Rosalie Trombly, the program director at CKLW, to play it and it took off in the Midwest. The stations 50,000 watt signal could be heard from Chicago to Boston and down into Georgia on a clear night. In appreciation Bob wrote a song in her honor called "Rosalie".
Bob paid his dues on the road to success, playing in a lot of local bars and Highschool dances in and around the greater Detroit area in the late 60's. Many of his best songs came from true life experiences.... you can't fake heartfelt feelings.
My favorite Seeger song.
Bob Seger has way too many songs to choose from to recommend. Seen him live in 79 or 80. Great live.
FEEL LIKE A NUMBER same album one of their best ROCKERS.
Bob Seger, one of the all time greats, and the best smile in rock and roll!
A Detroit Classic!!! Bob Seger.
You can't go wrong with Seger. Truly a rock'n'roll icon.
Rock n Roll Never Forgets
I really like the song, Shame On The Moon.
Bob is the man.
What a storyteller!!!
You might love "Ramblin' Man/Beautiful Loser" as much as I do. It's two songs that morph into one, and both are freakin' amazing! Either studio or live. My fave Seger for sure. As for this song, "Still The Same" I agree with what Floridaboy said in a previous comment
Soooooo many great songs from Bob Segar and the silver bullet band
Love this song! "Still The Same" is in my top three Bob Seger songs of all time. It's the piano for me.
Bob has a one-of-a kind voice, so smooth and soulful and his songs are stories that just grab you. I've followed Bob Seger since his early days playing with guys like Glenn Frey around Detroit and Ann Arbor. Bob is legendary.
Same here, east of Toledo. A tremendous amount of talent there back then. Plus everything early Motown. It was great coming up. Matter of fact, he played my wife's high school dance one year, '73 I think.
Just a member of the incredible artists who created the magic of 70's and early 80's popular music!! Never will be repeated!!! Great pick you two!!
Another classic bob seger song. I remember when this first came out I loved it from the jump. Unique gritty yet smoothe voice. I love his piano riffs that are pretty much a signature of his songs. His music is very emotional and almost anthem like. Timeless. Thanks for posting.
It's so hard to pick a favorite Seger song but this one and "Mainstreet" are still my two favorites. Just great music.
This was the first song I remember hearing from Bob Seger, and I absolutely loved it. As i discovered his music I knew this would be music that I would be listening to for the rest of my life. He's a legend as far I'm concerned.
This song brings me right back to a wonderful teenage summer. Probably my favorite Seger song. But you also still need to do a couple more of my favorites: Night Moves and Rock n Roll Never Forgets.
Can never go wrong with this great man and his band. Every song he ever did is outstanding.
The emotions this classic gives you on hearing the first few chords.
Im 58, and i clearly remember singing this song with my buddies when it came out. I was in 7th or 8th grade. It still holds up....
Thanks guys, love y'all
You gotta love some Bob Seger! He was supposed to come to the Toledo speedway Jam but had to cancel. I wish I had seen him.
My favourite slow Bob is “Night Moves” and uptempo is “Feel like a number”.
I've seen him several times since the 70s thru the 90s. Every concert was amazing.
You guys will absolutely love The Fire Inside (studio version) the drums and piano is just unbelievable
Cheers from Australia
A great classic Seger tune. Always a fan of this one! The melody and back ground vocals are just next level.
Horizontal bop is a great and underrated song of his
A real treat is watching Bob Seger singing Heartache Tonight at the Eagles Kennedy Center Honors. He still had it and brought down the house. Please react to it if it’s allowed.
I saw him perform that with the Eagles at the Classics West concert at Dodger Stadium - the first concert the Eagles did after Glenn's passing. That was incredible.
That had to be an incredible show for sure!
@@karinanderson9722 It was. The Classics concert was a two day event that featured the Doobie Brothers, Steely Dan and the Eagles on day 1. Journey, Earth Wind & Fire, and Fleetwood Mac were on day 2. I knew that the Eagles frequently had famous guests attend their concerts in LA and sometimes join them on stage. I had hoped Stevie Nicks would join Henley for "Leather and Lace" since we knew Fleetwood Mac was already in town, but I had no idea Seger was there. When they started the intro for "Heartache Tonight" and said that they had a guest, I was saying to myself "Please let it be Seger". You can imagine how excited I was when he came out.
The song was Bob's take on the record company people he dealt with when he was in LA.
The album STRANGER IN TOWN IS by far his best, every song is great.
Always a great classic guys. Recognized it from the start, it's still played on the radio. He's a true artist.
Growing up two hours from Detroit in Ohio I was blessed to be raised on Bob's music , he is a true American icon
One hour here, and same! I just appreciate him more the older I get.
I'm so glad you finally got to this one. One of Bob's very best.
Y'all have something in common with Bob. He was a track and field athlete 🏃♂🏃♂🏃♂🏃♂🏃♂🏃♀🏃♀🏃♀🏃♀in high school!
His song "Old time rock and roll" is one you should definitly listen to.
Bob seger is a vibe, its being lost in the 1970s in a good memory. A place we can never get back to. Not sure you can fully understand unless you were there, but i love your reaction anyway. Thank you.
The Silver Bullet does deserve a ton of credit. But credit is also due to the studio musicians in Muscle Shoals (the Swampers) as Seger had a great relationship with them cutting nearly half of most of his albums at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios with the help of their legendary session musicians. Love Bob - keep them coming!!!
I lucked out saw Bob Seger in my High School Gymnasium front row, and in college at a Country Club Bar I was dancing 🕺 right in front of the stage ! He's one of Detroits best👌 Peace✌️ and Love❤️ your 70 year old forever hippie Gary😊
Bob always sings about things everyone can relate too.
"Even Now"-a real driver.
House Behind a House of another great song!
A classic! Always gives me chills, the background singers, the piano, etc❤
Saw Bob Seger just the once in Fort Lauderdale, just happened to be there for a few days and he was playing and me and a mate managed to get tickets. An indelible memory.
This is one of my favorite Seger songs. I’ve been singing this lately to myself or humming it. Lo and behold you guys react to it. I am surprised you haven’t done it til now.
Every time I hear one of his songs it make me proud to be from Ann Arbor and it make me smile and sing along !!!
Farmington Hills here
@pica6888 my family has and or does live in Livonia,Westland and Redford !!
I’ll say it again! “Travelin Man/Beautiful Loser,” a 2-song medley from his Live Bullet album is the bomb. It rocks and is beautiful.
Agree--they are overdue to hit that one!
Bob Seger could do no wrong in my eyes. This song is so warm and hypnotic in delivery for a soft rock one. Great lyrics for a girl that just plays with guys emotions and flits from relationships to relationships. Brilliant song.
That last chorus with the "Still the same" takes on a sadder note, where Bob says "I just turned and walked away; I had nothing left to say." .... definitely has a hint of someone who's stuck, and not growing beyond what they could be. Always seeing who they can play, who they can outsmart, maybe instead of who they could help, or who they could teach. But always a fun song even so.
If you havent' done it yet, check out "Beautiful Loser / Travelling Man" paired together on the "Bullet Live!" album.
Nice reaction! Seger is always an excellent artist to cover. I know you've received this request before from several people (including at least one other one today), so I'd like to add my vote for "The Famous Final Scene". It is a deep track from the "Stranger In Town" album (same album as "Still The Same" and so many other great songs). Lyrically, it is incredible, as you would expect from Seger. It truly is worth the listen, as is the entire album.
Superb album!
Bob Seger is a classic of rock and roll. This record disappeared out of my mom and my collection of records after she passed away. Someone thought that they had the right to help themselves to it. My favorite of his songs is Old Time Rock And Roll.
What can I say, it's Bob Seger! Always a great song with a good story to tell!
The Famous Final Scene, Horizontal Bop, Betty Lou and Feel Like a Number.
Horizontal Bop for sure
They've done Betty Lou
Not long ago I was listening to a song of Bob Seger’s called comin home it’s a great song and I am very sure that you will enjoy it too. I love all of Bob Seger’s great songs and the way he can take you from toe tapping to just about crying with the sound of his voice and music is so good
I grew up in Windsor and Bob Seger is a son of Detroit so heard his music a lot, love his voice and lysics
“Even Now” is one of my absolute favorites. It’s not one of the most popular but it clearly speaks to his ability to tell a story of love.
Bob Seger & The Last Heard - Heavy Music (Parts 1&2) Detroit Rock
This song came out when my brother was born (April 1978) so hearing it always reminds me of that time in my life. Warm weather, parks, beaches, etc.
Fast or Slow Seger sings to your soul. Some of my Favourites are Night Moves, Roll Me Away, and I feel like a number.
The video of him singing this as a young man is a favorite of mine. Such happiness.
Love Bob Seger. Sunspot Baby is my favorite rocker of his.
As parents, I hope you guys listen to one of Bob's lesser known songs, IN YOUR TIME. Such a powerful message from one generation to the next. It's one of the "new" songs on his first Greatest Hits, 1994.
Add Against the Wind to your Bob Seger list of reactions. You will love it.
If you guys like Seger's slower stuff, you definitely have to check out his "Famous Final Scene." It is the ultimate in "rip your heart out" songs!
Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band with Still The Same peaked at #4 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart the week of July 22, 1978. The rest of the top 10 that week:
1) Shadow Dancing - Andy Gibb
2) Baker Street - Gerry Rafferty
3) Miss You - The Rolling Stones
4) Still The Same - Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band
5) Last Dance - Donna Summer
6) Grease - Frankie Valli
7) The Groove Line - Heatwave
8) Used Ta Be My Girl - The O'Jays
9) Take A Chance On Me - ABBA
10) Three Times A Lady - Commodores
Listening to Like a Rock, also one of my favorites, reminds me of sitting in the backseat of my grandma's car, lol. I can smell it and everything.
I took my parents to see Bob Seger about 10 years ago. First time for all of us. It was amazing.
