I swear you can't trust people on Reddit to recap shows correctly because they have their head up their asses misinterpreting every-fucking-thing. They complained that Howard was grasping at straws making fun of JD for separating his foods in little bags which is what everybody does because no one wants their chips mixed with their cookies. And then I listened to the show and it's very clear that Howard was talking about JD needing to pack different foods like what moms do for their little kids or like those Lunchables instead of just packing one meal like an adult, not that JD uses Ziploc bags to separate his foods.

One thing I’ll never get..
Plenty of people do podcasts in untreated or at least not professionally treated studios.. even well treated, it’s usually in a spare office or whatever. And the audio is great.
Yet Gary’s always had his shit mic and nowadays JD has a similar setup .. a good call because he’s one of the more likable characters, who gives a shit about Memet.. and this super expensive radio show with top dollar gear has awful mics for the two of them.
I don’t know.. it’s probably intentional, which I guess would be to make it clear they’re not in the studio? To sound more like a caller, though callers often sound better?
I can’t believe it’s unintentional.. they could easily add a little acoustic treatment, use dynamic mics and it’d be fine. It’s only the types they’re using - some sort of PA type thing - that causes the lo fi, tinny sound. They could easily put some RE20s or SM7Bs, RE20s being everywhere at Sirius.. and if you think it’s about acoustics, consider TWUS studio and most of Sirius’.. glass isn’t a big sound absorber. It could be soundproof glass but that’s not doing anything for the acoustics. A real radio mic would solve the issue.
We all know they’re in a different room.. why must they sound like shit. I know it’s not a big deal, but it’s just been bugging at me.
It is intentional, they use it because it sounds funny and because you can tell Gary in his office. They talked about it before a long time ago when they came to Sirius.
