There are some building codes that govern these structures and technically you have to pull a permit. I am also sure they have all kinds of inserts you can purchase fore special applications like entry doors and windows with open and shut..

To do that I would cut the vinyl and add channel. Vinyl is easy to cut and easy to work with.
You can use furring strips with foam mounted to the back.
I have to remove an older kit patio and reinstall again after move! Do I just go backwards as far as starting point and order??? Stumped!

I would attach a strip of treated lumber to the siding
The correct way is to cut siding and install sunroom track to house Wall sheathing. Than Install J channel and siding
