no, this video has nothing to do with planter boxes. or all my free plans. today I am discussing how you can crank out over $3,588 per month using $3.28 cedar pickets. Its one of the highest ranked specialty categories in woodworking, since you do not need a large workspace and it can be done with basic tools.
An extremely hot category and easy start-up woodworking business is picture frames. they make great gifts, and customization is infinite.
I have a VERY in depth video about picture frame construction, heres the intro:
but, what if you dont have black walnut or cherry, and you wanted to play around with sizes, profiles and practice building a few on a budget? well, the most budget friendly wood are these cedar pickets. here I am showing you how to make beautiful frames using a basic table saw and miter saw. nothing fancy tat tall.
from one picket, I was able to get 2 8x10, 4 5x7, 4 4x6 and a dinky little frame with the left over scrap. real wood picture frames arnt cheap, and most customers will select these three sizes.
again, no bells or whistles with these frames, but they sell very quickly. - Jak na to + styl
Idk bout y’all, but I’m here for the singing. 😂
He’s got me hooked on his serenading us, too!
Ohhhh then you're really going to enjoy the 100,000 subscriber video (when I get there) ;) Thanks Jared!
I'm here to watch the love child of Ed Sheeran and Boris Johnson 😂
If woodworking as a career doesn’t work out, you definitely have the future inmusic industry! Great voice!
Thx for sharing Keep building
Thanks buddy
You most certainly give inspiration.
Thanks Martin :)
Really enjoy your video's and the plans. Thank you for sharing
Thanks Tim!
Thanks!
Thank you Bruce! :)
Great vid. Sometimes you can get some pretty good buys on surplus overstock wood flooring boards such as maple from flooring stores such as lumber liquidators or even flooring contractors with job over runs. Nice materials to make frames from.
Oooo i love it!
Fastest video other than shorts! Great way to promote other videos!!! Awesome job!!
Thanks Scotty :) i try and keep these pretty short
Thanks for the video 👍💯👍
Thanks Higgie!
Great as always
Thanks buddy :)
Ahhh, good ol' Nickleback. Great sing along add in. Thanks for the frame share. I love real wood over the plastic that seems to be available these days
Plastic and wood is my fav too! 😂 We gotta keep making the quality stuff!
Great video. Thanks
Thanks :)
Great job 👏
Thanks Anthony! :)
Love your channel, when it comes to building the stuff you built, you have been a God send.. plus I like the fact that I'm not the only person who uses Craftsman tools 😂
Not a lot of Craftsmaners anymore. Idk, it's either Kobalt, Dewalt or Craftsman where I live in the stores :P thanks David
By the way, have you gotten your hands on the new Kobalt bench top band saw, or the gen-2 craftsman bandsaw??
The thicker frame is good. Make the rabbit a little shallower and it will be a shadow box.
I like itttt!
You’re awesome.
YOU'RE AWESOME!
Ha! I was in my shop today on a rain day wondering what else to make and started making picture frames and was like "squirrel " and went a whole other direction and finished up staining some creates lol. I have to figure out my Bosch miter saw...it keeps loosing it's angles but I just got my Incra 1000SE so I'll be doing my 45's with that til I can figure out what's going on with the Bosch.
There ya go buddy :) sometimes you have to start a new project, so you'll finish the old one lol
1:59 that carpet unlocks a core memory lol is there a flower print couch somewhere in that room?
I don't know, I was 2! Lolol, The first couch i remember chewing on was light beige :P
Beautiful build. Do you ever make the tapered planter boxes? Can you do videos on this?
Might be a next year project Gail :)
Hey mate, Can you please make a video on how to use a table saw safely? How to hook an air gun up to a compressor. How to load and unload a nail gun and what specific nail gun to use for construction or what air gun you use when you build projects as you do on all your videos. And any other electric tool that needs to be shown and give us help tips. Thanks mate.I hope you can do this. I'm sure a lot of us would and could benefit from this. Thanks.
I plan to do some beginner style how to's, because everyone, at some point, was a beginner :)
Are you spying on me? I literally played around with some Cedar scraps in my shop today and made a little practice picture frame.
Heck yeah, even if you only sell them for $8-12, with as many as you can get out of one picket, it's not a bad deal.
Now that planter box mania is slowing down do you have any plans to do any outdoor furniture videos? I built one of Ana White's chairs the other day and plan on building some to sell.
Keep up the great content.
No furniture this year anyways, im booked till August for videos. The wife was looking at chaise loungers which I almost had to build :P
I run my cedar pickets through the planer then sand it. So much less sanding!
(secretly, thats how I sanded these but not everyone has a planer so i pretended to sand them) :) cedar pickets are really pretty sanded/planed
Holy game changer. Where do you source those pickets for three and a quarter??!?
Lowes :)
I use golden oak on my cedar projects.
At first, i thought you meant you use Golden Oak (the wood) instead of cedar for projects. I was like, dangggg this guys loaded. Lol, Golden Oak stain is my go-to for everything. Its purdy. At the very least its in my sample stains on scraps
@@WhosTheVoss I use golden oak or golden pecan is I can't find the golden oak. I just don't like darker stain. Now I use tung oil with poly after on my keepsake boxes.
I am just getting back into woodworking. After 30 years, I do not have a table saw or router, yet I do have a skill, mini skill, and jig saw. Do you know how I could make the glass lip?
Off, cutting the rabbit would require a router or table saw, sorry buddy :/
Just recently became a subscriber and enjoy your content.
Can you please tell me where you buy your cedar pickets or share the link? Thanks!
Check out my "Boost Your Planter Sales" sales video, it coverswhere to get the lumber, all the costs, and answers other questions about sales, finishes and tips for selling :)
Do you sell the glass and back ground for the frames or just sell the frames ?
do you sell them as just the wooden frame? No glass or clear plastic cover for the image? if you do add that where do you get them from at dirt chaep price?
All those questions and more are covered in the Complete Guide video :)
Question, do you sell them with glass or plexi glass and a backer?
I buy picture frames at Dollar Tree and use the glass from them. Backplates I make from 1/4" material since the Dollar Tree frames back support usually is too short depending on your frame thickness
Dude! You have been framed.
🚓🚓🚓 ahhhh!!!!!
Can't get a cedar picket around here. Can't even order them from Lowe's or HD.
Dang!!
If you don't like the thicker frame, tilt the saw blade and bevel its edges!
I like ot! :)
Are you in a band too?
No sir re bob.
It's sad. Cedar fence pickets are unobtainium in my little corner of western Massachusetts/Hudson valley, NY.
Cedar pickets will change the world! Lol, that kind of stinks about not having them available. So they only have pressure treated?
@@WhosTheVoss That's right. I don't feel right about using PT for anything people might grow food in. I have made contact with a fence builder who sold me a few scrap panel cutoffs, but that was a one-time deal.
Super dumb question here, but how does one put a picture in it? Does your customer(s) put their own backing on?
Check out my DIY Picture Frames video, it has some tips for making/buying the backs
@WhosTheVoss will do, thanks for the videos! Great instruction and presence!
The cost deal breaker is the plexiglass
1.25 at Dollar Tree :) the linked video goes over some ways to keep cost down
@@WhosTheVoss I just saw that video. Brilliant!
I make picture frames for gifts. Super rewarding. But it’s NOT EASY. It’s challenging for my level of skill, anyway.
I bet they love the frames! :)
maybe I wont give up hope yet.
Heck no you wont! You got this :)
@@WhosTheVoss appreciate that.
The second way to make money is us clicking on your videos. 😂😉🇨🇦
That is true my guy ;) i slap one of these videos together once a month so I have time to plan and script the following month. A strange amount of people watch them though, i try to keep mine remotely realistic. Im not making 150 napkin holders out of a 2x4 and saying its 1.5 million lole the other channels lol
😂👍🇨🇦
FYI, I understand that your You Tube rating would be better with 10 minute long videos. I'd compile more than one before uploading...
I have read that longer videos get better traction, the next one (coming out in two weeks) is longer, we'll see hoe she does :)
That was an odd ending.
I generally cut my endings short since viewers start leaving once they feel the video is 'over' even if it still has 30+ seconds left. You'll see me do this quite often :P
It can, most likely won't, but it can.
👍
the problem is about picture frames - they are cheap af in 1 dollar store
very few people wanna buy em for more cause they already have seen the price
also noone really have any questions about quality, they cost 1 freaking dollar
doesnt work in my area, sadge
Very true, but there are clientele who will choose a handmade picture frame over a store bought wooden frame mainly because of customization options and how it incapacitates the photo memory. It can take some practice and time to get it off the ground, but they sell very well at craft shows or events
People don’t print their pictures anymore.
👍
Yea, they do, and they dont have to put photographs in them.
I wonder what your neighbor is going through… may need a picture frame to lift his or her spirits (it’s definitely a guy)!
Ohhhhh his life has been an adventure the last year for sureeee. Maybe he does need a picture frame ;)
Hey Voss. You sure it’s not $38,880/month like some of these silly Etsy influencer videos?
This video is in my "Wiggin out the sillies" playlist. ;) i slap these together because a strange amount of people watch them and it gives me time for monthly planning/scripting. However, I do keep mine remotely realistic, i wont tell you to cut 150 napkin holders from a 2x4 and make 1.5 million like the others lolol
you lost me when you started singing
Who care? see ya
Please let us know what you like so we can be sure to accommodate you at all times. Being so awesome must be a lot of hard work. Do you need a damp rag to dab your forehead?
*waves goodbye
Skål 🫡 brother love the content man , keep it up ! 🎉
😂 thanks buddy! :) i like your vids as well!! :)
@@WhosTheVoss awesome to hear brother .
