I'll always prefer this version to the album version. The intro leads into the track so nicely, and the song's high point is so much more emphatic in this version.

Definitely, Floating Points has his own sound and feels looser with modern rhythm. Not all of his tracks sound like Aphex Twin, but the inspiration on this one in particular is almost like an homage.

Jack I think it’s not a sample, he composes for strings, too. In the vinyl album, an orchestration score can be found as well; he is from a classical music background so he knows in and out of composition I guess.
