Inverters work, but they also can drain your battery, so you should also buy a Remote Switch to shut it off when not in use, especially if it is 1,000 watts and over. Modified Sine wave Inverters also generate more heat, although they are less efficient than purse sine wave inverters, which cost more.
There are also good DC Microwaves (Power Hunt) that are powered without the need for an Inverter.

Surely an inverter hooked to the car battery with the engine running to keep the battery from discharging is the answer

Nah, it can overheat the alternator.

At 49 seconds - It's all powered by this 1,000 amp automobile battery? 1,000 amps? Possible CCA but not amp hours.

Rather sucks that the 1500's don't properly run a 700 watt microwave. That's why I'm here.
Wanted to see if 2000 actually works. 😕😊

I have the same situation at work. I'm replacing a 400W inverter with a 2000W. Hooks directly from truck's battery to a 30A in-line fuse to 12 gauge stranded wire. It's switched from the dash with a 30A switch. The negative is hooked straight from inverter to the chassis. The microwave runs only for a second or two before blowing the 30A in-line fuse. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

the 2 kw inverter will draw ~ 200 amps at full capacity. DC wire and fuse needs to be appropriately sized. i's say you're cutting it way too close with your # 12 wire and 30 amp fuse even for the 400 watt unit.

I think it might be easier to plug that microwave in beside the one his coworkers are using. but going through all that is another way to go.

hi kindly could you tell how i use microwave transformer to run 12 volt heater

Great concept, but not a realistic approach to heating/cooking anything. You said you only have 30 minutes for lunch,so unless you plan on only eating a tiny bag of100 calorie popcorn a 700 watt micro makes no sense at all. If you were traveling I guess it would be ok, but a RoadPro or even a HotLogic Mini makes more sense.
