- Sung Kang played Han Lue in five movies of the Fast & Furious franchise. He's also a deep dude with a garage of cool projects, an appreciation for 914s, and an incredible sense of humor. He works on his own project cars, runs a blog called Suns Garage, and just loves to drive. This was an incredible show. sungsgarage.com/

Han had one of the best quotes in Tokyo Drift. Loved his character ever since.
"I have money, it's trust and character I need around me. You know, who you choose to be around you lets you know who you are. One car in exchange for knowing what a man's made of? That's a price I can live with." - Han
Top quote from the whole movie
Top quote, and most ironic quote today is “watchu think? I’m gonna let you drive a Hyundai?”
Today: “well, sure.”
True dud well said ugewanf
@@BeanieNinjay0 Hahah I think about this quote every time I think about how far Kia-Hyundai have come.
@@BeanieNinjay0 theyre still junk. lol
“It’s expensive to be broke” haha best thing I’ve heard all day, facts, facts.
Han in the movie: Go 200 mph in an LFA with Gal Gadot on his lap for fun
Han in real life: Drives a 100hp Datsun cause "I gotta get home, gotta wife", that's all he needs
They need to stop adding explosions to fast and furious movies, all of it was always unrealistic but it's become a joke, that LFA scene however is sort of a bucket list item which inspires peoples ambitions
FF franchise has been a meathead joke for the last 6 of those things LOL. They are basically comedies, IMO. You're a bit late suggesting they return to realism, LOL!
@@ams914 true, you can only laugh about it because it's ridiculous but they can always go back, they can make something like tokyo drift 2 or just return to their roots. the reason they don't is because they claim the BS movies are more successful than the original ones, it's easy to make these claims because they never actually tried making the movies about cars instead of explosions (again) so you can't tell if the BS is more successful than the car stuff.
@@user-hr2zy7ct8h Wrong! His Datsun is around 200-300 HP
@@aftrnoon_ac Yeah I thought so, so they were just joking about the HP, but go and tell someone your car has 200-300 hp today, they won't be impressed even if it's plenty for a lightweight car. Point is he could buy something much faster and base model luxury cars come with more HP than that nowadays. Obv. the power/weight ratio is more important than HP but Idk how many are aware of that. The datsun is about fun and handling, not speed.
@Wolfgang Priklopil even though they did it through CGI, they actually got the sounds right
Dude I had no idea Sung was this cool. I could listen to his takes on reality all day long
I wish they would make a whole movie focused on his character
@@Rentle553motions true that
I must say, idk if he drank or smoked before this podcast but … bro this episode was hella boring and slow.
@@Rentle553motions it would be very interesting
they made him feel very welcomed and relaxed, cudos to the team!
“I don’t care if you’re sick as a dog or in bed with Beyoncé, I call, you answer.”
My mom when she needs meat defrosting
@@sxlx oh my god, you saved my life. I wouldn’t have lived if it was said wrong. 😰
My daughter wrote a letter about how much she loved our Miata and we left it in the glove box, and several owners later it was still with the car and the kid tracked me down and said he was going to plate it "Violet" because of the letter. It made my daughter very happy her Violet had found a good home ;)
Amazing!
Thats honestly one of the most wholesome story ive heard
Sung is so down to earth! Love how honest he is about his car knowledge and admits when he doesn’t know. Nothing is more annoying than someone pretending to know things about cars when you know they don’t.
Sung should have his own podcast. Could listen to him all day
He has one lol
lmao watch sungsgarage
@@Atrophy7 thank YOU!!!!
Hi dear
Sung it's cool AF, he sounds so humble and grounded.
Listening to him talk in real life, I cannot think of another character that could have played Han anywhere near as good.
He is so authentically zen and thoughtful, and a car guy. What an iconic character, and what a great human.
John cena as han
I think Sung's mum being so brutal with her expectations is what makes sung so down to earth.
The podcast was hilarious, Sung Kang is definitely one of my favorite guests on the podcast so far.
Check out his Camino on TJ Hunts videos
What a cool dude. Humble, smart, respectful, funny, friendly. Super cool to get to hear his stories.
Idk how many times I've watched this podcast I've honestly lost count. Listening to these two legends will never get old.
Han's quote from Tokyo Drift is one of the more important in my life. Sure its cliche, but somehow it made an impact on me and will stay with me til I die.
'Life's simple. You make choices and you don't look back.'
Not to mention it follows another great quote by him that someone else commented.
That quote makes a lot of sense once you watch "Better Luck Tomorrow"
I fully agree the first time I watched the movie that line stuck with me and as I grew up and rewatched the movies once a year I really came to realize that its so true
Sung is amazing what a good dude. it makes me just wonder how fun an episode of TSP would have been with the late great Paul Walker
Probably one of your best guests yet, Matt and Zack. Sung is such a breath of fresh air. And hilarious, to boot! Loved every minute.
Zack needs to heavily consider becoming a stand up comic.
Zack has always been one of the funniest parts of the podcast from the beginning
Man he killed that Elvis bit
Trust me I like Zack too much to want this life for him he is witty though
All the Comedy Clubs in California are closed
@@jda671 Ok joe rogan we know that
This was seriously one of my favorite episodes of the pod ever. Sung is the man!
Sung is such a super chill car guy, very passionate. was hoping this would happen at some point and it became a reality. Keep it up Matt and crew 👍👍
Tuna, No Crust
The host needs to stop cutting off Sung. Let the man tell his stories!
It's Matt Farah lol. He does have VladTV itus
YES! My thoughts exactly
one of the best interviews i've ever watched. Sung is such a genuine nice guy!
Someone tried to sell me a 200 dollar windshield on my 1000 dollar 1995 legacy. I told them, well when it breaks ill just buy a new car. The stare they had still makes me laugh.
The Saturn Ion I had in high school was valued at -$400 (yes, negative) and a new windshield cost $550.
You're making me have to confront the money I've dumped in to this CRX I bought for $500 and then again for $1500 and it's not giving me good feelings lmfao
(Bought twice because I sold it to a friend, he fixed some shit, I bought it back)
From what I can tell being famous and a fan favorite in the FF collection of movies hasnt changed Sung at all. He seems to be a really relaxed and chill dude. I think it would be so cool to grab a drink with him I bet hes got some crazy behind the scenes stories from all of the movies he has done.
this is one of the best podcast episodes of any show I've ever seen
Definitely one of the best episodes so far - please bring Sung back. The bit with Heston and Elvis was hilarious 😂
10:27 i think he means the Gran Torino film by eastwood?
Still would like a movie about his character in the fast and furious franchise
Yep I think that's what he meant too. Just got mixed up
Wow a humble car guy. How refreshing.
Sungs description of the actor experience killed me
Great guy! Thanks for the great time in Petaluma! We all cant wait to see what you end up doing with your 914 Sung!
Super cool dude. Glad you had him on the pod cuz it really opened my eyes to him and how cool he really is.
Love Sungs honesty and candor. !!!!!
Sung is the man! Really enjoyed this one, thanks 🙏
What a great interview! Maybe one of the best Smoking Tire podcast ever imo.
Best and chillest episode in a looong time!
13:20 this story reminds me of a car story my dad told me about. My parents had a mustang2 as a extra car. It was an old car that they wanted to get rid of but didn't really have the time to deal with it. They parked the in front of their house for the winter in Chicago before a major snow storm (kept the new car in the garage). The day after the storm there was a giant snow pile in front of the house and assumed the car was under the snow. no worries, they never drove it anyway. Snow melts, no car. check the mailbox and inside was a ticket and info for where the car was towed. In the paper work was a date for when the car would be crushed, set for a few days prior.
How is this NOT the best car podcast episode of ALL TIME!?!??!!
Sorted , is exactly that...
Watching you all get excited about sorted cars...sweet.
Channel epic as ever guys...
Keep safe keep it up.😎👍
“No.... because i died!!” 😂😂😂
Amazing interview and conversation. Sung’s humility towards cars was really cool to see, such a genuine guy! Loved hearing about his transition from Better Luck Tomorrow to Tokyo Drift.
Well done with your podcast studio! Audio sounds great, looks waaaaay better than a certain other podcast that recently changed their look/location. Good job!
thanks! shoutout to J Ryan for the set design!
I agree as well. Also on the "other" podcast studio suuuuucking
@@TheSmokingTirePodcast Stop using iPhones to record the video. The quality is crap and it shows. I'm using full high def setup and watching in 1080p and I can tell this is phone quality. Its fuzzy, the colors are off and there is no depth.
Disrespecting the first car really got me tears. It's quite a teacher. ❤❤ loved this one.
Honestly a great guy hope he does more interviews
This is one of my favorite podcast episodes ever. When he talks about his mom and the Notary Public I definitely couldn’t keep from laughing.
When I was a kid here in South Georgia...Too young to drive.. We had a Toyota Turcell.. and it had a 5 speed.. It was reliable..
My buddy had a '91 Tercel and that thing was unstoppable. He bought it with 90k miles and put another 200k miles on it. All he ever had to do to it was change the oil and it was so light he only replaced the brakes once while he owned it. It probably would have done 500k miles easily, if not more, if it didn't start to rust out.
Skinniest tires I’ve ever seen on a car, the maintenance must be dirt cheap on that car
Sung is such a great guy. Excellent podcast
Funnest ST podcast in ages. You NEED to get Sung back on soon :)
One of the best episodes ever!
Man Sung I so chill. I wish this was like 8 hrs long instead of 2 i couldve listen to this all day. I would seriously love to chill with him.
I knew there was a reason he was one of my favorite characters in the FF sieries.
I've been listening to podcasts since the beginning and have never laughed so hard through a show. Most entertaining show that I can remember. Loved the chemistry and engagement from everyone.
This was so damn much fun - I could watch this every damn week.
I'm glad Matt brought Sung Kang on here, great podcast!
Sung should be a stand up comedian. Great at telling stories, Hilarious.
Exiting the movie theater after a F&F movie lolol on POINT!
sung is my favorite very simple and nice excellent actor I love it,I wish they would focus more on him in other projects because he is very good
This might be my Fast fanboyism bias talking, but this has to be one of my favourite episodes ever.
It's amusing how some of Han seems to have rubbed off on Sung, and the respect he's found for these cars many of us have adored for decades is heartwarming.
One of us
Very genuine guy. He’s a very normal person unlike most other actors.
I really loved the interview, I love to see this funny and storytelling side of Sung ... ever since I started accompanying him, I try to watch everything I find of him and I saw my name and that of the Fan Club on the screen: it was very exciting !
I love to see Sung Kang telling stories ... he really can thrill me! Thanks for this interview and get to know a little more about this life of my favorite person ! Thanks guys !
Hi derac
This show was fantastic. Didn't know anything about Sung Kang, but it turns out he's a really insightful, funny, chill guy. No wonder billionaires want what he has - love from strangers, love from the community. The only thing better than Sung's top notch stories was his mom's quotes!
You never know what to expect with from, about and who celebrities in their real life and Sung is the kind of dude you want to know and hangout with. Super likeable cool ass brother. This was a entertaining interview. The part about the christian family showing him their "Asian pear tree" and the car was so good.
love this freaking dope PODCAST!
I need to build a car now lol and slap a big TURBO
"The Bean Bandits' So that must be where Kenichi Sonoda came up for the name for one of his Manga protagonist "Bean Bandit, The Roadbuster". Thank You Sung Kang!!! I actually never got that reference!
50:35 "He just leased an Avalon! It has TRD on the back, I don't know what that means but" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 That's my Jewish mother 2000%
Great video! Thank you !
i wish this was at least an hour longer
I knew there was a reason why Sung was my favorite actor in the FF franchise
I think it’s his honesty that makes him someone that people actually want to talk to his honestly makes him the person that he is today the freaking Mikey mouse for the car world if you ask me I don’t even care if he knows anything about engines because his honesty and integrity that makes him a legit idol for all of us
Wow, all that happened from that one chance and sticking to his gut feeling, wow what a story👏🏾
"I wanna get a car, I wanna get a car. Hey relax son, the car comes to you. " This is beautiful and speaks to me as I'm in search of a drift car 🙏🏽 thinking I need to rush rush rush when it'll be there for me when the time comes.
This was a great episode. Don't know why I missed it the first run around. Funny stories from everyone all around. Sung Kang was an awesome guest.
Wish the Viceroy was the $500 Matt estimated. €750 is a bit steep.
I love how much water Matt drinks😂that pen must’ve been putting in work👌🏼
I'm so confused by this guy. I love it 😂
I’ve never listen to a podcast longer then 30 mins but I was able to watch this whole thing
Parents had a Maverick when I was a kid. Watching Sung's build of one reignited my desire to find one and build one up.
Thank you for giving my channel namesake validation!!! Great interview!
I may have just watched 2 hours of podcast with this dude, now may go and spend another 2 with Tokyo Drift. Best FF movie in my opinion.
Sung is awesome. Humble, Zen and Cultural. Knowing he basically plays himself in TD is awesome.
Also no homo but he has a honest, intoxicating laugh when he breaks into it.
For some reason I would like to see Han visit Adam LZ and drive some cars.
That was an awesome interview! So interesting
Dude that wheel is sick! Very nice!
Great guest, great episode.
"Tuna sandwich with Quaaludes please" ... this made my morning.
this was the best.
This was posted on birthday ayyyyyy
Sung is awesome!
Nice guy, I wish him more luck for the future
This was so hilarious! Elvis heel toe 😂
Sung is the goat. Han is easily the best character in the series in my opinion
Tokyo Drift is one if the best, great podcast
Incredible. 🤘🏼
This is one of the coolest podcasts I’ve ever heard. The combo of you three feels like homies all just hanging and shooting the shit about cars
Love Sung man!
I've got a 87 Toyota Tercel wagon with four-wheel drive and a low gear. Super fun car to drive around cuz you just go flat everywhere. Drove the absolute piss out of it and it didn't care and then my brake booster went out and it's a discontinued part so unless I can find a new one that's the end of her 😔😔
I grew up in the countryside in the UK and I could have sworn that bus fabric was on my school bus. 😂. Great episode and great dude. Love it.
Hi
funniest podcast yet in the new studio
Another great episode
His mom is amazing. Legit. Trust your mom to keep you grounded, even when you're in a mad big franchise :D
This is was awesome
1:31:32 I mean this is amazing
Sung is a korean/American
Universal: 'Are you Japanese?'
Sung: umm
Universal: 'You hired'
