    11:29 My wife and I went to the Grand Canyon last year for the first time and there were some folks who would stand on these little boulders on the edge of the canyon and turn their backs to the canyon to take selfies! That and the amount of people who actually stumbled around close to the edge about gave me anxiety too! LOL! I told my wife lets move on and get away from these dang fools! I was certain we would see an accident that day. Great video!

    Loved the video and found it very useful. We haven’t been before & of course like others, you want to cram in as much as possible, so I can appreciate the issue with over exerting yourself or others within the group. Thank you

    Yosemite is one of the top National Parks if not the best. I only experienced a small chunk of it when I finished my NOBO JMT thru hike in 2019 in there. I definitely need to go back and do some of the other great hikes. The Sierra is an incredible mountain range and so is YNP as a part of it.
    Happy trails!

    great timing on this, thanks! My wife will be in Yosemite in mid-October so this is really useful. Backpacking for two nights on the way to Clouds Rest. Hoping for clear weather/no smoke - fingers crossed!!

      Nice, and yea, hopefully the fires are done by then. The images that I'm seeing now look apocalyptic. Sad times...

      @@norsewarlock8331 Thanks thanks - so I think you can bring firearms (www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/weapons.htm) but no dogs on the trails. I wouldn't worry about bear attacks, it doesn't happen. And for dog friendly hikes, I think you can do the valley loop trail but that's about it unfortunately.

      @@allanfifield8256 Good to know, thanks for the info... and yea, my only weapon at Yosemite is usually a Swiss Army knife, which is handy if you want to open a bottle of wine with your attacker...

    I have 24 hours in Yosemite next week. I have one night booked in the Yosemite Valley Lodge. I will enter the park from the west on highway 120 around 5pm. Is it reasonable that I could do Tuolumne Grove, Tunnel View, and Bridalveil Fall that evening? I will have until 6pm the next day in the park to do other hikes. Trying to cram in as much as possible.

    • @Hikingguy
      @Hikingguy  Před 3 lety +1

      Yea, those 3 are def close enough to hit in an afternoon. There might be some traffic to Tuolumne Grove but it's not that far.

    Do people usually get soaked on the mist trail that you should bring extra clothes? Going in spring 😀

    • @Hikingguy
      @Hikingguy  Před 2 lety

      I usually bring a rain shell for that part. It's never so bad that I don't dry out fairly quickly though.

    is tuolumne grove the closest redwoods to the valley? or should we go to mariposa? We are going in october

    • @Hikingguy
      @Hikingguy  Před 3 lety

      Tuolumne Grove is the closest, and just a short hike to see them.

    • @robinmcleod8404
      @robinmcleod8404 Před 3 lety

      I prefer Mariposa grove to Tuolumne grove. While a bit further from the valley, there are many more trees and interpretive trails.
