  • Review of the Beeman P17. An awesome pellet pistol that I highly recommend for 10 to 15 yard target shooting.

Great video! Bought my first air gun a week ago, and this is the one the guy in the gun store recommended for target shooting… surprised me as it was so cheap (£67 in the uk) but I was so happy I bought it! Great feel and accuracy, even for a beginner like me! Take care!!

    I have 2 P17s,got the 1st 1, the NEXT day I ordered a 2nd P17 so my guests could shoot with me,
Yes, say hello to 30 pounds of single pump pneumatic pressure! Love it,
I have a Hammer 4x pistol scope with a 1 piece scope mount on 1 and it makes for a solid easy grip. I tried red dots on my and removed them, just as easy and more accurate to shoot it clean with iron sights.
Great job testing various pellets and going above and beyond with the sound meter as well as Chronograph.
Yes the Chinese produced P17 for $25 to $40 thru Amazon is great when compared to the German produced P3 or HW40 for $250 are all super identical platform (for those who shall not be named that is)
Only air rifle I have found with similar accuracy AND price is Daisy 1910 Boy Scout of America.
Both can kill any ANT or FLY you see. Dont try a bee, they can shoot back.
    Great job

Mornin! Thanks for the compliments. I do appreciate it. They really are an accurate, fun pistol to shoot. I would love to add the P3 or HW40 to the collection someday. You talked about buying two of them, that reminded me that after I got that thing home & shot it I called the guy I bought it from and said I will take the rest of those! To bad mine was the last one he had! Haha Bummer!

I recently purchased a Stoeger XP4. Structurally and in appearance, this is a complete analogue of the Beeman P17. Impressions are the best. Of course, it is not for collecting as a copy model, although it vaguely resembles the "Beretta" (it is not for nothing that the box says DESIGNED IN ITALY). But, as for the entertaining side of the issue, you can't imagine better! Here are the arguments for:
    1. Relatively light (the hand does not get tired in prolonged use).
    2. The corrugated surface of the handle, which allows you to confidently hold it in your hand.
    3. No need to spend money on gas canisters.
    4. Bullets - lead, very accurately placed on target.
    5. Possibility to use bullets "Glare" (explode upon impact with a hard surface, which is very impressive in the dark).
    6. Minimum return.
He does not need any "body kits" (LTC, calimator), not the case, he is for "close combat". In addition, body kits will interfere with the process of pumping air - you need to be able to confidently cover the frame when pumping air.
In general, I liked this gun, I recommend it. Great choice. There are many different models in my collection, but this gun is in a special place of honor. 👍😀

I have had the HW 40 for about 25 years now and I am very satisfied. After all the Beeman P17 reviews I've been binging these days, there seems to be no difference in quality and performance. You mentioned in a comment below, that you are considering getting the HW 40. With the quality of the P 17 you just presented you won't see much of a difference.
As a matter of fact I am currently eyeballing the HW 75 aka Beeman P1. It appears to be the full metal brother of the P17/HW 40 only with a hint of higher muzzle velocity. It is costly though, I have to say, but reviewers seem to love it.
One of the many things I like about the P17 is that it can be dryfired without trouble (no moving parts) so that you can train your triggerpull at will.

That is a nice shooting pellet pistol, I may have to get me one of those when I've decided I am definitely gonna buy another one. That things got plenty of power for snakes, I've used my Daisy 415 with bb's and it takes 'em out no problem. I think it does have the power for small rodents with pellets for sure. Wow, that was a nice group, really nice. I'm with ya on the trigger, it makes a huge difference, especially with my fingers, the joints are locked or really limited movement and the trigger means a lot. My Flashpup wood shoots like a dream because the trigger is so nice on it, the synthetic isn't as nice, but still a really good trigger. Both the same model and trigger but the wood trigger adjusts a little better. I had to give a screw a quarter turn to tighten it up a little, it was sensitive and I'd send shots before I wanted, I still do but that's after not shooting it for a while, I have to get back into the light feel of it after shooting my other guns.

    • @bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007
      @bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007  Před 4 lety +2

You can't go wrong with this pellet pistol. It is a nice one to shoot fer sure. I here ya on the trigger sensitivity. The first 3 shot I took with this after shooting those other pistols were sent before I wanted to! Haha Always point your gun in a safe direction kids! I did read where a guy was killing rats with it at close range and it is most definitely accurate enough. And they are simple to do maintenance on. I love the little bugger!

@@bigjsoutdoorsairguns9007 I would like to have a repeater that's accurate like that. I have a Daisy 415 I got probably close to ten years ago, has it been that long, yes it has, holy shit... anyway, I haven't chronographed it and it's BB's only but I've taken out several snakes with it at around three to five yards. I blew some holes and chunks out of a pretty thick plastic chair with it a couple of years ago. It was 30 yards away and I never dreamed it would tear the hell outta my chair but it tore it up good. That one holds 19 shots and gets about 5 fills of BB's before needing a co2 change. I don't shoot it that often but my son loves it, he always says he wants to use the "Rapid Fire" pistol. It would be awesome if you could get one of those gravmags Lou did the video on or a mod to put an autofeed mag on it. I like having quick follow up shots ready to go if I can, that's why I use the co2 on the snakes, lol. Just because I do airgun YT vids doesn't mean I'm a marksman, two totally different things, there, lol.

My .22 version shoots at 300-ish FPS (chonographed) and clocks in at about 3 ft/lb of muzzle energy, well within our 6 ft/lb for air pistols law in the UK. It suffers from pretty bad muzzle flip which has been tamed somewhat by the weight of a red-dot scope. RWS Meisterkugeln pellets seem to be the best fit for my P17s barrel after some back garden pellet testing recently.

I have the Weihrauch Hw40 and the Beeman P17 and imo the Beeman P17 can't be beat for a low cost pellet pistol but the Hw40 has a nicer trigger and is easier to pump and both shoot a little over 400 fps. My Hw40 doesn't have the dayglo sights of the Beeman and that is something I wish my Hw40 had. The Hw40 is the same as the Beeman P3 which I'll someday own because I like pneumatic pistols.
