For me, they are a latin ballroom dream team. I've been following Riccardo since he was with Joanne, and Yulia has been my hero since I first laid eyes on her back when she was with Maxim. I have grown up a ballroom dance enthusiast, and I've never seen anyone like her. Ever. Kudos to anyone who has the guts to dance next to her on the comp floor. I don't know anyone who matches her in technique. I hope they have a few years left in them. I certainly never tire of watching them dance. If there is Ballroom dance hall of fame, they belong in it.

I couldn't have said it any better. Yulia and Ginger Rogers are my favorite ladies of ballroom, there's simply no one like them. And yes, there definitely needs to be a Dance Hall of Fame, if there isn't one already.

Well, even though I may be somewhat biased (reason to come), I have watched a lot of Riccardo and Yulia's work on here. Their routines, the way they were executed, pin point sharp, detailed, every step placed to perfection, are truly some of the finest routines ever. And yes, 10 times world, couldn't agree more, they are a true King and Queen of Latin dancing.
I suppose its twice championships in that regard to Hazel and Allen Fletcher.... Who is... My Aunt and Uncle (Hazel being sister to my Dad). They were undoubtedly spectacular with their accuracy and pursuit for perfection.
Though as it is worth mentioning that, it is known in the dance world, the styles, the moves, the steps, have changed to a degree in the field of Pro dancing over the years.
But still, I tip my hat to these two, the new Monarchy of the Latin Dance....
Oh, and their wedding video is a heartwarming thing to watch too. I Hope life treats them both well, with great happiness, wealth, good health, and endless happiness. 🤗🤗🤗

@@thedarkknight1971 I actually have seen footage of Miss Hazel dancing before, and I also have enjoyed her work as a very insightful commentator on several televised events. I met Riccardo and Yulia at an event in Indianapolis YEARS ago. They were very nice. I didn't get that "inflated ego vibe" from them at all. I really wish that I had gotten a picture.

The reason why they are so successful is not only because they are good dancers, but probably because they have a very strong relationship (like, human to human). As a former dancer with 11-year long dancing "career" I had a chance to see many couples with complex relations, fighting all the time etc. Being involved in a sport with another person (like dance) can be very complicated if partners don't "click". No matter how good they are in that sport! For me it seems they have a great personal relationship and with that it must be way easier for them to handle all these stressful trainings and competitions.
You're right An89Go. This classy couple trains at the studio where we teach. It is a pleasure to see the respect they show one another in practice. No doubt, it is one of the pillars of their success.

They are a lovely couple and a most loving couple. It shows in there dancing. They complement each other well. They are the most perfect and beautiful dancers that I have ever seen. They remind me of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers. They are very humble. I saw there wedding and it was beautiful. I love that they pledged to be loyal to each other and to the God they believe in.

I love you both! You've been my favourite pair since I saw you for the first time! Your technique, style, choreographies, everything is the best! And, specially - you're emotions! You've got so great fun, you're happy and very energetic! When I saw your Cha Cha Cha to "Sweet Like Cola", I felt your emotions and when I saw your Rumba to "Caruso", I couldn't speak after that. It just left me speechless, I was so moving and surprised positively. You've done everything you wanted - everybody can see your relationship when dancing (maybe even not only when dancing), emotions and the more you dance the better you are. The newer video, the better dance. You're my biggest influences in dance. I've learnt so much thanks to you and I still am! This is my passion and thanks to you, I've learnt so much and I believe that I can much more. It's very important to me. I can watch you over and over again and I'm never bored. This is the real art and beauty. Thank you! I wish you still to be the world champions for many, many years!
There hasn't been a dance team like them in the last 85 years. I think even Fred and Ginger would love to watch these 2 in action.
Individually they are great. And as a team, even better. Yulia, like her predecessor, Ginger Rogers, is able to combine her superior athletic ability and her femininity to make the difficult appear to be easy. Riccardo does an incredible job of making her look good. Obviously she appreciates that.
They have pretty much shown the world that they are the best Latin dancers. Here's to hoping they display their talents in the smooth dances as well.

Great interview as always with Riccardo and Yulia. Always down to earth and not in the least bit pretentious. Riccardo's view on lead and partnering is most interesting because I recall listening to the Great Brian Watson lecture and he had a rather different point of view on this subject. Brian said he resisted right throughout his career the idea of the man being restricted to being just a frame for the lady.. He said he liked being in the picture too. And most often was. So two very different approaches yet both have become multi world champions. So who's right and who's wrong. Neither I suspect they are just different But I believe that within those two points of view there has to be balance. For me this is the reason I find fault in both Brian and Riccardo. because Brian was the consummate showman but I believe he was prone to overshadow and diminish his partner. The opposite case with Riccardo. His focus is so heavily placed in being a gentleman and taking care of Julia that I feel his dancing is somewhat nice and a little polite. When your lady's personality and floor presence is as dynamic as yulia you must as a man step up to the plate and try to balance that otherwise you run the risk of the partnership looking unbalanced. And if I had to make a criticism of both Riccardo and Brian is that both of them as male dances are responsible for their partnerships looking at times unbalanced and that there is one partner clearly consuming the lions share of the limelight. So for me both phenominal partnerships but not without issues.Hey, but then they've won 18 or so world tittles between them so what would I know.

Agreed. Anybody who thinks dancers are wimps ain't payin' attention. Pros are among the best athletes in the world.
One of our granddaughters started dancing when she was 4. When her high school had a fitness challenge, she won it even though she never does traditional exercise -- which was the basis of the competition.
Or to make the point a different way, an interviewer once asked Astaire what he did for exercise and he fumbled for words, finally responding, "Well, I just . . . dance!"
He let her shine that’s what I love about him a man man 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

It is always of immense importance and value to hear about the man's perspective of the relational development between himself and his partner. Riccardo's lead relationship to Yulia is motivated from the chemistry and the feeling between them. He is energized by her free spirit and fearlessness. Yulia feels blessed for the privilege of artist expression of emotion and love portrayed in her dance. That which immerges from the soul of a dancer can at times make the material an illusion and an illusion, materialize. The language they are speaking is not so much of the material world, however they do make mention of their coach and their training but they are speaking more about an experience felt during a great performance dance. It is a state of being that is magical. Thus being in the spiritual, artistic and emotional realm which at their level becomes far more important then just technical perfection which for them had already come to fruition light years ago. I have a few wonderful videos of them below. Look for Dec 31 Everyone Yulia publicly shared. You can see and feel her emotion. Riccardo puts all eyes on Yulia when they dance. She makes the most of it while she executes the most difficult moves and makes them look easy.
They are certainly an inspirational couple and their chemistry is undeniable!

I think he's trying to say that because she's a little too fearless she's also a little to trusting of Riccardo. Hope that helps :)

Now they are married, I wonder when they will retire. You know, one day, maybe one of them will say, I had enough. If the partner doesn't feel the same way but he/she can't just move to another partner. I am guessing, they make a plan in a specific year which might related to one of them's physical condition and fully retired from competition. They can have their dance studio, they are great teachers, I would love take lessons from them.
They retired in 2019.
