The old dryers would start a fire. The new dryers turn off or at least turn off the heating elements because of the lack of ventilation. People do the same thing by not replacing airfilters in their heaters or AC units. Its simply amazing how many perfectly good appliances are thrown away because people just dont think to google their problems.
Or read their manuals. I called the company and had them email me a PDF manual for my washer and drying as they were 2nd hand to me. Same for my ac units and vaccums
In my country dryers don't vent outdoors they just vent into the room? They have lint filters inside them that you can easily pull out and empty? We don't have dryer fires or overheating. What on Earth kind of nonsense machines are you Yanks putting in your houses?
I have 3 90s in my dryer vent. It still blows perfectly at 12 years. I open it and check it and it’s clean as a whistle inside. Not sure how but I’ll take it.
Yeah most builders do the cheapest possible solution to dryer lines. You really want rigid ducting and use clamps or pop rivets (screws cause lint to get caught), a second high flow lint screen box, and to make the shortest path possible. Some also make the mistake of upsizing to a larger size thinking it’ll help. But increasing the line size decreases air velocity, which causes the lint to accumulate more.
The real risk comes from the lint that builds up INSIDE the dryer. Had the inside cleaned out once and the barrel was deformed so when the repair man came a week later the dryer was full of lint again and he found some burnt pieces. Had a dual stack catch on fire when I was a kid all because the lint got in with all the wires and no one knew
He doesn’t need a new dryer. There’s a fuse in the back of the dryer designed to pop if it gets over heated(blocked vent means heat has nowhere to go). It’s a very simple a cheap fix.
WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT BOUT? that does nothing to stop the vent from getting blocked by lint, replace it, it pops, replace it pops, replace it pops.... IF IT POPPED... the dryer wouldnt work at all, so replacing a fuse that ISNT BURNT OUT would leave you back where you started (breakers pop fuses break/burn)
@@johnpaton4246dude you’re a little slow. He’s saying after you fix the clogged duct, then you replace the fuse that went out due to the overheating caused by the clogged duct.
My dad built a new house in 2006-2007 and the dryer vent used to kick out so much stuff it looked like this every time you did the laundry lol it would be blowing in the wind and making a mess of the yard.

Dont be a lazy ass! You can do this yourself. Just take the friken dryer vent hose off, throw the fucker away, & put a new one on. They are sold at every hardware store & if you dont know how to replace one, return your dryer. Use a laundrymat.
Most houses don't have this venting system in america anymore. This is only for really old houses. If someone offers you to clean your "vents" it's a scam. Avoid them at all costs. Or don't and get scammed, I don't care. It's your life lol

I cleaned mine out last year! Water infiltrated near the exhaust from wind driven rain... lint was soggy and a brick all at the same time... cleaned it all out and then sent my snake camera down to make sure!
Yeah the house I bought was 15 years old. The laundry room dryer vent is in the middle of the home so its 20 foot pipe run with a 90 degree turn off the dryer once it gets in the ceiling. I bought one of those 50 foot pole setups with a brush and you hook it to a drill. I ran it through the pipe until it hit the dryer opening. and back out. 5 gallon bucket of lint. I then took a leaf blower and stuck it in where the dryer would connect and so much came out it clogged the opening.. pulled it out hit it again with the leave blower. Just raining lint. When you have a long run that little bit of lint that gets through the dryer screen is damp and warm.. and it hits that pipe and sticks. If its a long run. You will get build up.
I feel this energy so much! I save people from wrecking in their cars every day by catching them when they come in for their inspections or whatever ails them with their vehicles. Those particular jobs give me a lot of extra motivation for the next that may not be lol!
I do this for a living as well, youd be amazed the stuff you find in vents! Get them cleaned regularly and if your dryer is taking longer than one cycle to dry, call someone to at least inspect the vent. Thats a big warning sign that the vents are clogged.
I’ve had to bypass ours in the apartment and run it out the window due to them not being cleaned out. We would have to run the dryer 2/3 times just to dry one load. Running it out the window works very well
Don't try that unless your vent is made of metal or hard plastic pvc. The hose will destroy your vent. Actually, you should replace any soft material vents. They are dangerous and can catch fire much easier.

My own dryer stopped drying my clothes. I was telling my friend about it. She told me to clean the vent before calling a tech. Best advice I ever got as a new home owner. Dryer started working again and still works. No tech was needed. It's been over a decade.
Same! When your clothes aren’t drying that’s probably the reason.
OK and I'm assuming you've cleaned it again in those 10 years right?😯
@@geoben9801 You're assuming correctly. I've learned it's a part of the dryer maintenance.
Thanks for this, I’ll look into having this done
I love it. It’s so satisfying. I would love to do that for a job.
This is one of my pet peeves. More ppl should clean these. Dryer fires scare the crap out of me 😮
Wait till you see the shitty wiring in most attics that start most fires when People unknowingly plug a space heater down line without realizing because it’s out of sight and out of mind.
That's why I don't have a vent line on my dryer.
Watched my mom pull out our closet set dryer and flip it out the slider because it was on fire. 😂 Quickest movement I have ever seen that woman do! It was our brand new house. Lordy no! She was moving it out! Kicked it across the backyard twice! 😂❤😂
He also probably didn't need a new driver. Just needed to reset it because it got too hot from all that lint clogging up the lines.
@@BobSmith-kd6lqwhere does it vent to then?
Honestly that's not a bad job to love either. That's really satisfying to watch and you know those families are likely happier knowing their fire hazard is gone and their clothes dry easier.

I've never seen it, but Fargo looks like a pretty cool show!

Literally. Im so glad i had a grandmother that stressed about this growing up so now its permanently etched into my head
Most people don't even know to clean it.
So did my mom, pointed out all kinds of safety issues in the house & while driving (we weren’t even old enough to drive) like looking in your backseat (still remember a story of a gas station attendant saving a woman because he saw a man hiding in the backseat). A very practical lady.

Wow this is crazy!!! I think with the videos of this I've seen lately, I need to clean ours!
Got this done for the first time last year. Owned my house for 5 years, it was 22 years old. 3 foot tall pile of lint, definitely worth it.
I had a long horizontal run in a condo. With the dryer running on no heat, I put a 50' electrical line, fish tape into the outlet. I was rotating it around and zooming it in and out as I was inseting it farther and farther into the run. I was covered with lint and there was a 10x20' oval of lint in my yard. The dryer operated much better.
This is so satisfying to watch!!
Make that two. I absolutely cannot get enough of my job. Making EVERYONE happy with my food. It’s the greatest feeling
i love that that’s how i felt being a server too!
Yes!! I’m the same. McDonald’s employees unite 💪
My dryer vent is 10" long and spits directly fron dryer to outside. Very little room for build up and incredibly easy to clean
That’s what she said
My mom bought a house that was remodeled and the vent went straight thu the wall to outside not even 2 foot did the same with my dad's house I'm remodeling now
@@rcaddict3815 it doesn’t matter how close your vent is to the outside… If you don’t clean it every few months you will have same issues. So basically don’t be lazy and every six months to year just clean it out
@TstanDa-Man it has never had any build up ever and I'll check it every 6 months or so new that you say sum tho

You're helping people and that looks very satisfying lol
The old dryers would start a fire. The new dryers turn off or at least turn off the heating elements because of the lack of ventilation. People do the same thing by not replacing airfilters in their heaters or AC units. Its simply amazing how many perfectly good appliances are thrown away because people just dont think to google their problems.
It would have to be pretty old to not at least have a thermal cutoff, but it still may get hot enough to burn the lint before quitting.
Dryers have always had thermal cut offs of some sort. In the motor and for the heater circuit. You have zero idea what your talking about
Or read their manuals.
Google lol this world shyt comes with a manual 😂
Ppl do NOT realize, every 90° turn causes a 30% reduction in air flow!
Plus, the ribbed 4" flex hose is actually only handling a 3" column of air.
I have 3 90s in my dryer vent. It still blows perfectly at 12 years. I open it and check it and it’s clean as a whistle inside. Not sure how but I’ll take it.
Just think how much faster your dryer would dry if it had a short straight run instead of three ninety degree elbows.@@jeffreye4537
That's an awful long dryer run
Yeah most builders do the cheapest possible solution to dryer lines. You really want rigid ducting and use clamps or pop rivets (screws cause lint to get caught), a second high flow lint screen box, and to make the shortest path possible.
Some also make the mistake of upsizing to a larger size thinking it’ll help. But increasing the line size decreases air velocity, which causes the lint to accumulate more.
You can basically mitigate that with guide vanes. But probably not in a ribber hose lol.
I thought I was supposed to be staring at the rock 😅
I too love ❤️ their work.
@@-TheRealScubasteve- yeah you notice how thats not just replacing a fuse? I think YOU little slow

DAYUM!!! This makes me happy that my dryer tube is only about 4’ long!
My dad built a new house in 2006-2007 and the dryer vent used to kick out so much stuff it looked like this every time you did the laundry lol it would be blowing in the wind and making a mess of the yard.
deffinately better than worrying about a clogged pipe though
Pantyhose over vent, tie/tape down throw away/ empty collected flug.

My friend at 15 passed away due to a dryer vent blockage. You’re saving lives. Unfortunately, the people who call you have a sense. Those who don’t, don’t get that that shit is dangerous, or they simply don’t even realize it exists.
Omg I never thought about this before 😂 definitely doing this
I would recommend doing this at least every 5 years or so. You can get the rods and brush for your drill from one of the home stores. 👍🏾
5 years can work if the duct is short and horizontal.
If it's like mine, and runs 20 feet vertically to the roof, it should probably be a yearly task.
Yeah.... You might reconsider that. Once a year would be the safe bet. 👍
My old man has been a Washer and Dryer repair man for 40 yrs (self-taught) and all our families have never had any problems with our appliances! Love my old man he's so precious!
OMG that's just incredible! This should be a television ad to inspire everyone to check their dryer vents immediately!😮. When the eventual house fire is just days away!

Wow. Dryer lint is extremely flammable. Good job. Makes me want to snake my vent.
This is a problem rarely found in Australia. We use clothes lines.

That's the major cause of house fires 🔥 Clean your dryer vent regularly !!!
That must feel so satisfying watching that all come out.. and of course knowing you probably saved many lives!🎉🎉🎉
This is why I love my grandma‘s house because her dryer is only 2 feet away from the outside of the house so it’s really easy to clean the hose regularly, and we always clean the filter after every single dry
Eye protection for me. Great job!
Now there's a service everyone will need, dryer vent cleaning is good thing. Good fire prevention too.
@@cme98 Get back with us when you are an elderly person with no family nearby.

I cleaned mine out last year! Water infiltrated near the exhaust from wind driven rain... lint was soggy and a brick all at the same time... cleaned it all out and then sent my snake camera down to make sure!
Tbh i would LOVE to do this as a job ! 😂❤
And where can I buy a tool like that?
Amazon, they make them as attachments for a handheld drill
I'm pretty sure the real ones are a few hundred dollars so not worth it unless you work in the industry
@jonathandelaughter4102 I mean, of you spend 100 bucks each time you have to call someone then it pays for itself in a few uses
@@SixStringsBroken that's a good point although they usually do more than that.
What’s the real tool called?
There’s something satisfying about this clean out😊
I had that problem once. I learned to keep the exhaust pipe clean every few months.
I used a leaf blower. Neighbors hated me afterwards but it saved time and money.
The fans on dryers are not made to blow out on a long line
How can one not like this..dude just saved this house
I do this for a living as well, youd be amazed the stuff you find in vents! Get them cleaned regularly and if your dryer is taking longer than one cycle to dry, call someone to at least inspect the vent. Thats a big warning sign that the vents are clogged.
Omg! This is so satisfying to watch! Me too I love! Thank you for your service! ❤️
I’ve had to bypass ours in the apartment and run it out the window due to them not being cleaned out. We would have to run the dryer 2/3 times just to dry one load. Running it out the window works very well
Apartment maintenance should be able to clean it,
It's always fun to see the effects of a cleaning
One of the main reasons I love a ranch. My line is about 10 feet and easily done with a leaf blower.
Don't try that unless your vent is made of metal or hard plastic pvc. The hose will destroy your vent. Actually, you should replace any soft material vents. They are dangerous and can catch fire much easier.
it's a soft cord I believe .
