This song brings warm, yet faintly bittersweet nostalgia. My late Dad (since last year) bought me this game when I got my Dreamcast for Christmas. Thank you so much Dad.
Borislav Gridnev u mean emulator. And they mean for the bar it pushed at the time, playing it today won't be the same as playing it in its day as technology has progressed, and part of the immersion factor in that game was how crazy lifelike it was compared to what was available in the day. Still would be cool to check it out though. I hope 3 gets itself on track
To the people who experienced this in 2000. You were given the feeling of being in japan for the first time. It really was like that for a lot of people.. there was no google maps back then... this was as good as it got besides being in the country.
This masterpiece of a game is why I ended up studying and working in Japan for 4 and a half years about 9 years after I purchased it. And it really was like this.
This music brings me back to those 2004's summer evenings in Nanning, China when I finished my shift and went to working class food stalls to eat alone, then walked back to my apartment, gazed at the developing city's panorama and smoked for a bit, then went to sleep, alone.
This track means two things - 1) it's just a lovely relaxing acoustic guitar piece, and 2) the fantastic Dreamcast lighting effects were coming on, mindblowing for 1998.
i've played them all except for kurohyou 2 and isshin, what i meant was the small mundane things like npc doing things based on a schedule, environment interaction, npc interaction, hell the bus even has a schedule that you has to follow to go to work, things that game developers' today would consider outdated
It's not so easy to put into words what Shenmue is to me. The promo narration said 'Is this a game?' Well, it's more than a game for me, it's magical if that makes any sense. It's 2018 and I love how the graphics still hold up. The characters, the soundtrack, everything is special. Some times I just like to walk around and just take in the sights.
I got into shenmue back in 08. A friend got me into the series. Shenmue will be doubt be mu soul game I will never get bored with for along time. Ever since 08, I became a true shenmue fan
I think I’m not alone in the deepest, warmest regards that I still feel towards the experience of playing Shenmue (in the Summer of 2001.) It was simply the greatest gaming experience of my life, and remains so, to this day. The soundtrack was a momentous part of the journey, and this particular track just hit the heart strings at nightfall. So touching. Everything about Shenmue was both touching, elegant and bold. 🙏🏻❤️
Shenmue is such a underrated series, the amount of detail and love put into the series is incredible and became one of my favourites really fast, hopefully we get Part 4 someday.
there's a song in the Naruto soundtrack that sounds like this. i played Shenmue before i watched Naruto, and i said to my partner when the song played, "THAT'S SHENMUE MUSIC!!!" he had never played Shenmue and had no idea what i was talking about lol
Didn’t play it on the Dreamcast but the remastered version on my Xbox One through the summer of 2019 at age 16. I want to go back to those summer nights playing this game. It gave me a great sense of nostalgia I thought I’d never want to come back to. ❤
I've finished playing Shenmue 1&2 in the DC during the covid pendemic and now replaying the HD version 1&2 on my PS5. Still long way to finish Shenmue 2 before moving on to Shemmue 3
Shenmue is a more recent experience for me, but the second I heard the guitar, and saw the lights start coming on as it got dark out, I knew I found something really, really special.
I regret so much having wasted my childhood and teenage years playing WoW. I feel i missed so many good games. Somethings I could never experience again.
If I could go back in time and visit myself in the year 2000. I'd tell the kid that this game would be one of highlights of his life and that it would stay with him forever.
Poison_Null Do yourself a favor and play it man. Shenmue should be experienced by everyone who calls themselves a gamer at least once in their lifetime. I played it back in 1999/2000 when I was 13 and man it leaves an impression on you. All of these years later and I’ve yet to experience any other game like it.
So I came here after hearing HEART by Plini and Archeype Tim Henson wow I wonder if this was their inspirations for the versions of those instrumentals

And then Kodak bought a brand new glizzy on it.
