Camera Drop Into Frightening Sinkhole

- In this video, I return to the very scary sinkhole with vertical sides that appears to have a tunnel leading off into the deep. The sinkhole is very fresh and the sides keep falling in as I lower the camera. I believe it would be a death trap if I tried to lower myself to get a first-hand look. So off the camera went....what was below?

You should lower a RC car in the hole with the camera attached so you can drive it further down there and see more of the hole. This might also work well with some of your other cave adventures.
I was just going to say that. Would be worth the investment
r/c car wouldn't work. radio waves don't go through the ground, so as soon as the car was out of sight, control would be lost. It COULD be done with a remote-control tracked vehicle, with a long wire joiningit to the controller outside. But you'd need a feed back from the camera, so you could see where it was going!

The tunnel looks like soft sandstone or clay..plus some decomposing granate ? And being wet and soggy ,yeah a great discision to pass this tunnel ! Need you around for more neat metal detector adventures!
Very pleased you realize the danger of that area. That whole area is suspect. The depth must tell you something. aT LEAST 20-30 FOOT OF SOIL DISAPPEARED DOWN THAT HOLE.

Maybe you could place a big branch, or long stick in there, so that if a critter happened to fall in they might be able to climb out?
What you need is a 360° camera along with a ring light to drop in places like that, no need to spin or worry about the position of the camera
If you go down there only safe way is with a very wide tube, place it in the hole and create a opening where the bottom tunnel is.. then you can look to the next tunnel safe..
Put some wheels on your aquaROV and drive it in.

Did you just admit you'd be scared going into that hole... I don't blame you haha. That doughnut thing is a core from the road they do that to check strength and depth of the concrete. I'd say something to come back and check on after hard rain maybe. Be safe Chigg! And thanks for sharing.
What you need to do is get yourself a fishing pole with about 30 pound test on it and then tie your camera to that. You can lower it super far and retrieve it super easy and quick.

Haven't watched this yet but knew dang well you wouldn't be able to stay away from there...!
If you were to proceed, I would suggest getting a section of culvert pipe wide enough for a person to get into and use it to shore up the sides from a cave-in.
You should get you a cheap radio-controlled car and strap the camera to it so you could drive it around down there to get a closer look

Question... I watched a tv show about Florida sinkholes. One opened up in a backyard and a scuba diver went into it to see where it came out. He came out at the site that they believed to be correct. Do you know what show that was? It was probably on NAT GEO or the Science Channel, or some other similar channel. My mom wants to see the episode but I can't seem to find it.

Looks like the area had multiple fill ins or it was a dump covered over, dumped on and covered over and over. There was a lot of pottery in the dark stratus.
Yes! A lot of loose soil/ mud, debris and water flow/rain keep filling it up! A lot of digging soil removal from entrance till you hit the limestone to figure whether it even opens up! Yes, you are right"Very dangerous", Chigg!!🤫

Hey, just a thought. Have you ever thought about exploring old mines? Like gold, silver and other ore mines?
I'm for filling it with spray foam, drop in all sorts of metal scrap and pour the foam over everything

The one side i think you were standing on was a thick layer of modified stone so please be careful not to stand on that again it's much more unstable than the dirt sides!
Please don't test mother nature.... I don't think she wants anyone in that hole! Please cover it so no person or animal can fall in. 😁
I was not scared at all as we entered this sinkhole, I had complete trust in the Chig lol

I think that place is a death trap and the county needs to come fill it back in. This reminds me of this story of a sinkhole in England, in the late 1800's, that opened suddenly and swallowed an entire locomotive. Here is the link to that story. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lindal_railway_incident
