      Otis Jiry - I've been a good boy so I'll ask santa... so if you see a chubby man in a red suit over your bed with rope and a tazer, then I guess I'll get my wish.
      Keep being great, Otis. Actually shared two videos of yours with my grandfather today. Went to the hospital for a potential heart attack.

    I have issues with sleeping so I listen to these stories to help me sleep. It definitely works. Lastnight I had dozed off for about an hour while I still had my headphones on and I woke up because I had a nightmare. I don't remember what it was about but it was related to what I had been listening to before I fell asleep. That's a first time for me to have a nightmare from the stories. I won't let it bother me. I'm going to continue listening to creepy stories every night. I love your channel.

      Pink Fox I remember scary stories to tell in the dark and more scary stories to tell in the dark. The original pictures scared me more the stories did. I heard they were re published or so and the pictures from the originals were replaced with something less frightening for young children. But to me that's what made them as great as they were. Those damned horrifying charcoal drawings that was pulled straight from a devil's nightmares.

    I only started listening to audiobooks in the last year, as I prefer the physical format but I started listening to audiobook to help with my insomnia (channels like Sleep Cove, classic literature or stories by Stephen King) but recently I've started getting into scary stories and creepypastas... Maybe I'm weird to fall asleep to these stories and I hardly dream, or at least I don't remember my dreams so the only time I get scared is when I wake up and a story is going and since I'm half asleep I forget I'm listening to an audio and wonder who the hell is talking lol lucky I haven't had a bout of sleep paralysis in a couple years.
    Anyways, I just got into podcasts (watched Archive81 on Netflix and decided to listen to the original podcast... Didn't even know there were so many fictional podcasts) so I've subscribed to Chilling Tales and the Otis Jiry one too and just came across this exact audio! I'm starting from the oldest uploads in the podcast and this is it! Also going to check out Horror Hill. Might just listen to this video as it's the same as the podcast anyways.

      I actually thought that would be a fun twist, myself. causally makes both stories better if you see it that way.

    Man, this is reminiscent of them scary stories books with that really eerie and fuckin creepy ass art. Except these are for the most part actually kinda scary. Actually...the thumbnail looks really similar to that same art style! 😆
    The last story Otis read was a doozy. Left enough to the imagination to conjure a nasty beastie with the sparse details given.

      @Astrithor Před 5 lety

      I actually thought it was fairly interesting, it just had no payoff. The second one was fair garbage, however. Otis' narration saved it, though. That last "PLEAAAAASE" even got me a little.

  • @Astrithor
    @Astrithor Před 5 lety

    I'm sorry, maybe I'm just jaded, but I didn't find either of these stories scary. Well read, definitely, bravo Otis. But the first story doesn't even really have a payoff, and the second one doesn't make any sense.
    First of all, why was the creature just leaning against the fence in the first place? Why didn't it approach the house the first time, but the second time, it did? If the creature was tall enough to almost brush the streetlamp, how in the world did the kid ever mistake it for a freaking garden umbrella? I'm sorry, but that entire second story reeks of a 14 year old who read too many Stephen King books and suddenly thought he was a storyteller.

    Scary Stories to tell I the Dark wants their everything back.
    JK, I did like the books enough to see a lot of parallels in art style, that and your titles are slightly reworded versions of each other.
