Hello everyone after a long time. I was busy though I got no time for uploading more new stuff but now I am back with the fantastic video which will help you regarding how to repair extension cord.
Actually In this video I've shown the easiest way or you can also say method to repair extension cord, I will be repairing my own extension lead cord by replacing the old wire with the new one.
The fault came in my extension was that it's positive and negative current on one end is not working properly. Like it's problem was that when I plug it into 3 face at 0 degree angle it works and when I again plug it in after rotating it 180 degree angle then it doesn't works. It's all due to the reason that my extension cord wire has been broken or some issue has came inside it so now the only way to reslove this issue was to replace with old extension cord with the new one.
I did it so and replaced it and you can see that extension is working quite fine.
I hope that you'd enjoy this video. Stay tuned for more upcoming videos. Don't forget to like & comment.
    Thank you for watching!

Your video was well made, and is appreciated.
I would like to point out some major fails in the extension lead and cable etc.
-No earth wire. A three pin plug could be inserted, needing a ground.
Non standard wire colour (should be blue for neutral Brown for live and green and yellow for earth)
The extension socket is very poorly made, soldering contacts is bad practise.
Please throw it away and buy a safe one

    There are some big mistakes…
Firstly (at 1:06), there’s not DC voltage in the socket, it’s AC voltage! So there isn’t any positive or negative. It’s Life, Neutral and Earth: Life is the one that makes the screwdriver light up, because there’s the full mains voltage in it. Neutral is basically the return path and Earth protects you, if something’s wrong with the device (very simplified explanation).
1:11 Secondly (the biggest mistake), don’t ever work on devices, which are switched on or plugged in! Every wrong touch could be your last breath! Use a multimeter to test for continuity and to check the resistance, which should never be greater than 3 ohms!
3:30 You obviously have to insulate the connections! If the shell breaks and these are accidentally touched, there is full mains voltage going through your body! A short circuit is possible too! Welding or at least soldering the connections (not recommended) would also be necessary, because there is otherwise a big resistance, resulting in heat or even fire at big loads (>5 amps)!
3:56 And again, never work under voltage!

I have an extension cord with a switch (reset-off). The switch is now broken and I am planning to just connect the two hot wires together for the extension cord to be usable. Can I actually do that without worrying?
I want to do this instead of throwing it away. I also searched online for a replacement of the switch but it turns out it is too expensive in a way that it is better to buy a new extension cord. There's a label on the switch says that it is a 15A 125VAC for additional info.

    • @easysolutions90

You've to change the wire in order to run the machine, the tiny wire can't handle this so get a new heavy wire from the market and it will work for sure.

This means to high current for the part (or lose connection) , throw it away , it is likely dangerous cheap junk like in the thing video.

  • @stevel4059
    @stevel4059 Před 3 lety +1

No need to change the entire wire all the time because most faults are in the plug (Unopenable). Just cut n change the plug with a new 6A 3pin top. If it still doesn't work then One can check for quality/faults of wire using end to end connectivity with multimeter before discarding for a new one. This will save some money.

    omg
very thin wires (copper strands)😨😲 ! it looks like 0.75mm2 = 18 AWG , this is not good for extension cord
you should use at least 16 AWG = 1.5 mm2
i use 2.5mm2 = 14 AWG ... sometimes i even use 12 AWG in my extension cords for high loads.
