I really wish they hadn't dumb down the dancing mechanic in newer games. Its easier, but the bellydancing is slowly losing its meaning and becoming more of a gimmick.
Mind if I say something weird?

One word: PACING
It breaks the pacing to stop and do the dance every time.
Frankly, it is a gimmick. It always has been.
And while I understand the bellydancing DID have other purposes to justify it's existence in this game...it didn't do much favors to the overall rhythm of the game.
It does break the pace to stop and input a button combination, it’s much faster to just select from list honestly
There are ways to fix it to make it less pace breaking, through it seems WF wants more streamlined, fast paced gameplay

I still have this game and I found out that it costs a whole lot but I still want to hold on to it cuz you know memories and all

Hahaha, that detailed animation for that tiny pixel Shantae on that tiny GBC screen. Kinda sad for the designers.
Hyped to see the OG on switch so we finally have the entire series on one platform!

Awesome AWESOME game. Even after playing the 2 sequels after this, this game still has a place in my heart.

Probably the only game in the series when most bosses force you to use transformations. I find it pretty cool

hey, did you use the 3DS virtual console for this and recorded only the top screen? 'cause if you did I'll just tip you off on that Game Boy and Game Boy Color games enter a pixel-perfect resolution mode if you hold the Start button when the game boots in the 3DS menu, with a fancy border that shows the console of choice. at that point you could zoom the video in to the gameplay so it isn't as blurry, if that's a concern

feel like it's worth the 5 dollars it is on the 3DS eshop. if you liked castlevania II then you'll probably like shantae

even if it makes a big deal out of it on the title screen... yeah, it's just for one additional dance move (tinkerbat dance)
oh and also the part of it you probably know but this was released in 2002 so the GBA was in full swing at this point (which quite frankly lots of it's launch titles brought it immideately to full swing)
