That's exactly what happens between DC and Marvel: Marvel has ripped off A LOT of characters from DC and makes references to DC constantly, whereas DC takes a jab at Marvel only once in a blue moon and has not copied Marvel nearly as much.

Family Guy may have been inspired by The Simpsons, but they've made their own mark on tv history. They're both clever without being identical

Even if these shows declined in quality over the years, they still hold a special place in my heart
Simpsons for me especially. Family Guy had promise to begin with. I'm not giving up on Futurama, American Dad or even South Park. Those are three adult animated shows I still enjoy. Btw, Futurama is coming back with a new series.

@Joshua Mohlman Exactly, Joshua. I prefer to like shows that the media hardly ever gas on about. Futurama is did something right to be brought back and American Dad is still going!!! South Park is the only one that is actually overrated unlike the other two shows I mentioned I still watch.
The Simpsons was my childhood and always brought something refreshing to the table regarding certain jokes as well as their neverending roster of characters. I hadn't watched The Simpsons in almost ten years. As far as Family Guy is concerned, I still enjoy that show as well. But hey, that crossover might give me a laugh uf and when I watch the whole thing.
Oh, yeah, that cutaway with Stewie's Butterfinger gig still cracks me up. 😂😂😂
The Simpsons and Family Guy were both part of my childhood. I watched them since I was 1 and my parents didn’t care because they were fans of it too

I love the earlier seasons of The Simpsons because some of those episodes are referenced in The Simpsons Hit & Run. (one of the greatest video games of all time) I love every season of Family Guy.

A note on Lois' Marge outfit. It is canon that they themselves know they're in a show. So I feel that would carry on with the Simpsons as well. It's just that meta.

I grew out of The Simpsons years ago but i will always think of the good times i had with that once funny show. Family Guy is more complicated and insufferable. Only two animated shows by their creators i can still stand to watch are Futurama and American Dad. They're both very underrated.
I like how they made fun of sideshow Bob and barts rivalry when Peter finally defeated the giant chicken.
The audience is always moving from one comedy show to another, you go from The Simpsons to South Park to Family Guy to Rick and Marty, etc. they are rivals but eventually all become crossovers due to the same audience, it’s similar to Mario and Sonic. Eventually we get a Super Smash Bros. with all the characters in it.

While intoxicated at The Drunken Clam with Joe and Quagmire, Peter explains that all the greatest moments of his life took place in the booth the trio were sitting in. Peter then lists off Maggie's first word, Bart jumping a canyon, and Mr Plow. All three, however, happened on The Simpsons.

14:07 Very important!: I know it might be obvious considering what she said, but to be totally clear that also goes for the crossover that the two shows were in. Harry didn't voice his characters there neither and I believe his reasoning was he was "busy" which I'm not buying because if people really want to do something they'll make time for it. he just didn't want anything to do with Family Guy. Although his characters like Flanders, Mr. Burns and Smithers were physically present in the crossover, they did not have any speaking lines.

The Fox TV Network is not owned by Disney, but Simpsons and Family Guy are. Disney bought Fox's TV and Film production studios in 2019, but not the Network or Fox News or Fox Sports 1. (they did get FX Networks and several international Fox channels). Disney own and produce Simpsons and Family Guy episodes, which are sold to Fox Broadcasting Company. So this piece is largely accurate, just know that Fox Network and Fox News are still owned by Rupert Murdoch, not Disney, and Fox Network doesn't make their own shows (except news, sports and some non-scripted stuff). It is super confusing.

I mean some of that is funny and it’s quite bold to take the Mick out of something that. They took influence with but to make fun of the decline The comedy it’s a bit hypocritical considering Family Guy hasn’t been funny in years either
The Simpsons has been around since 1989 {same year as Disney’s The Little Mermaid} and Family Guy has been around since 1999 {same year as Disney’s Tarzan}
I like family Guy way more than The Simpsons but only a fool could honestly believe that any animated comedy show stands up to The Simpsons.

if someone were to ask me which show i would prefer, i’d say the simpsons. yeah i watched family guy more, but i watched the simpsons and enjoyed it a bit more.
my favorite episode thus far would have to be “lisa vs. malibu stacy” for its commentary on societal expectations of women in toy dolls and the option to stand over big business and the like.
so yeah, family guy, i have seen more, but the simpsons is a show i enjoy more.
plus, the simpsons isn’t a machine gun when it comes to jabs against family guy. rather than feeding the troll, the simpsons chose to let the troll starve. and it worked out well, i feel.

While the Simpsons does not entertain me the way it once did, it doesn’t grate on me the way Family Guy does. I find the characters on the Simpsons so much more enjoyable, even if the story doesn’t hook me.
I grew out of The Simpsons years ago and yes, they stopped being funny as time went on.

Whats funny to me about the "ripoff" accusations, is by the time Family Guy aired, even before the revival, the original launch - The Simpsons were already past their peak. The time period where family guy was finding its feet is the same time period everyone stopped watching the simpsons.
24 odd years later, family guy is still relatively strong (maybe not as good as it used to be, but definitely not unwatchable) and the simpsons has been bad for 20 years.
