I related to axe data I OD at the age of 14 because living without my mom was terrible and living with an abusive father was not getting it so I remember taking almost all of my grandmother Xanax and next two days I woke up in the hospital with tubes, now I have graduated and trying to become and actor and 9 years without my mom and I God blesses me with two amazing adoptive moms that’s supporting me in every aspect of my life and has loved me like they’re own and even coming out as a gay biracial guy

I saw the masked man as the ‘devil in disguise’, metaphorically and literally, leading the protagonist down a path that he thinks he wants. While he’s able to provide for his family over time, he feels empty in a way because he knows it’s wrong but he doesn’t see any other choice. I feel like his mum represents hope and forgiveness as she helps him up at the end. I’m probably interpreting it too literally, I just love music with a story/message and Labrinth is a genius 😋

But since I have a feeling that Zendaya's all for us is the closest I'll get to it, I listen to hers more. But I like their voices together rather than them doing it individually

The part she recites here is so beautiful 3:12. You can notice after every time she says it she removes one or two words from the end until she reaches the part where she changes it and adds "Grew up". I may be over thinking this, but it's seems like the phases of life before you grow up.
And they all lived happily ever after - meaning your time as a new born and a toddler.
And they all lived Happily - meaning the time of your childhood.
And they all lived - meaning your teen and early adult years.
And then finally "Grew up".
I interpret it similarly. To me, it's about the unrealistic expectations we have when we are younger and how we see more and more of the truth about this ugly world as we grow older. The first line she utters is the most hopeful and most naive. It's directly from a fairytale we would hear in our bedtime stories when we were kids. But we find out eventually that not everyone lives happily ever after. The next line is false too. Not everyone lives happily, even just for a little bit. Some people never find true happiness. The third line is also false. Not everyone lives a full life. Not everyone you knew when you were a child is going to have the opportunity to live to adulthood. Tons of children die every year. Some people die during their own birth. To me, the last line represents gaining the maturity to understand that all of the previous lines are untrue. When we think someone is being immature or naive, we tell them to grow up.
What I love about this song is that it can be absolutely AMAZING with just labyrinth or zendaya alone and have both completely different meanings. "No food in the kitchen/Too much in my system" "Do it for the clan/Do it for the fam", etc. BUT after their duet, it almost feels empty without one another??? Like with zendayas the choir was hella loud and i interpreted that in her version, they represent what people were saying to her, doing to her, and that she felt everything come down once she OD'd. However, she was completely aware, so that's why it felt so isolated. Their duet fills a room, it's so present that it represented the chaos of the show is, how overwhelming her OD was, it was supposed to feel claustrophobic at times. And labyrinths is almost reflective. His tone alone feels nostalgic and regretful. Idk just me observing but Iove every version so much, ignore me💀💀
