    literally cried from nostalgia from my teen years lol. Myspace, limewire, flip phones and techno. I'm from Austria and my family would go back and I would hear these songs in summer when I was 13, 14 and then come back home to Atlanta but nobody cared or liked techno. I often raved in my room to these songs when I was lonely. I remember one particular time it was a bright summer day, I had all the windows open I just built my desktop and put windows xp on it and immediately installed limewire and downloaded a bunch of songs. My crush had just rejected me, my parents weren't home, so I skipped school and danced in my room for like 3 hours. It's a bittersweet memory, but alongside great ones in Austria hanging out with my cousins and friends dancing and swimming in the lake, it's a source of such joy.
    Now I'm in my mid 30's I've had surgery on my shoulder a 3rd time and have 3 herniated discs, work 45-55 hours a week just to not have enough money to afford a house and just feel so old... I just want to go back even for a moment.

    Call on Me technically doesn't sample Valerie from the original record, as the studio would not clear the sample for Eric Prydz. But Eric presented it to Steve, who was impressed and redid his entire vocals, and that's whats sampled. Which is why the wikipedia entry says "based on" not sampled.

    • @mcla9212
      @mcla9212 Před měsícem +4

      @kJ922-h3j alot of them were VERY popular in North America. They may not have charted but they got radio play. With the exception of Adagio for Strings, the Numa Numa song or whatever.
      Alot of it can also be attributed to underground distribution of pirated music between students. That's how I heard alot of these at first back in the day.
      I was kinda shocked DHT- Listen To Your Heart wasn't on this list too
