    It's amazing how a 40 years old computer makes so impressive art in the 2020s.

      The Commodore 64....... The Computer System that will NEVER die :)
      I still have mine in Near MINT condition since the 80s. Still have it to this day in pristine condition. That system was so ground breaking back then, and Today in 2021 it still continues to forge forward.
      Heres to all the C64 maniacs going into 2022!!!

    I like it when the musicians come up with a different snare sound than the usual ones you hear. You can get some decent snare drums out of the SID chip, you don't have to get the same ones you hear in 90% of the SID music

      The Future Composer type of drums were heard everywhere. I personally liked the ones Chris Hülsbeck would use.

    Its insane how much programmers on the old c64 still can press incredible demos out of the 1MHZ ... I used to program on it from 1987 - 1990/1

      It's also absurd how they pushed Vic II to the limit.. cannot even image what tricks used to create that

    • @NotPoliticalCorrect
      @NotPoliticalCorrect Před 2 lety +2

      @@Starredmediasoft Well i DO know the C64 had the abillity to move the main screen around in the memory like 10 places in the c64's memory with changing of a few hardware addresses and that would take up 1 cycle or so in raster time (or whats its called... barely 1 raster line) but still pretty awesome what they can press out of that ... they would kinda have to change these 10 something places with new graphics .... and that would take a somewhat huge amount of the 1 mhz :P But still can be done i guess....
      I BET thats part of the "trick" with many of the new AMAZING demos they create today .... ;)

    • @leuat
      @leuat Před 2 lety +1

      @@Starredmediasoft actually most of the tricks here don't push the vicII too much.. I know a lot of people who do waaay more advanced tricks than this. but hey, thanks!

    • @leuat
      @leuat Před 2 lety +3

      yes. in fact, almost everything in this demo is semi-pre-rendered! the trick is to find a way to pre-render partially finished effects and then combine them in a way so it *looks* real-time

      basically you learn math and logic the rest comes with it. some of this is clever tricks you will figure out with experience. such as palette shifting, bcus per pixel manipulation was impossibly slow otherwise
