Its been a long journey since that race. I was a little nervous I might hurt something at that race. For the prior 8 years I had been running 1/8 mile only at Irwindale Raceway. I suspect I had it to lean to complete the 1/4 mile run. Those backfires caused a 10 inch crack in the front of the blower and somehow took out the thrust bearing too. I have the engine out for the 4th time now. The prior 3 times the engine would last about 5 to 10 minutes and completely take out the cam bearings. I have a brand new 427 side oiler I am putting together now and the cam company, that I had a new solid roller cam from, is grinding me a new cam and modifying the lifters. We hope these changes will cure the problem. I'm hoping that old saying of "The fourth time is a charm". HA HA
