Hi Sis Boni i think mineral processing is a short course at CTC Witbank, has nothing to do with control room its for plant operators. Usually control room operators are either someone with blasting certificate, but other mines hire people with just matric if you have been working for the same mine.

I think the next conversation should be how much effort, time and sacrifice so of these careers require for one to actually earn that money.
I'm also in the mining industry and wouldn't work those amount of hours, being constantly in that environment and the hard labour some of it requires, not even for that amount of money.

Mining industry has overtimes because we work everyday unlike the one's who work monday to friday, where i work i work 4days and 4days off, that's 2days morning shift and 2days night shift hence the allowances and with overtime if your 4days shifts has weekends on it, its 1.5 overtime for working Saturdays then 2.0 for Sundays and there are also holidays so...

I have N4 Electrical engineering with a distinction, i couldn't study further due to finances so I stayed at home looking for an apprenticeship without any luck. Now I'm doing something else, a learnership that's not related to engineering, and I can't just leave cos I have to work back the years. If only I waited more for an apprenticeship 🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️🤦🏿‍♀️

I think what's nice about careers in these fields is that they pay you for overtime. In corporate you'll put 100 hours overtime but if your salary is above a certain threshold then forget being paid for those hours.
And I agree, people should stop looking down at people who go to colleges, they are so good with things like artisan because in varsity all you learn is theory for 4 years. And not to say that there is something wrong with that, you just get more exposure to certain fields in college than in varsity.
And thanks for another great video Boni, the village is indeed happy.😁

I studied the course for 3 months.
The reason I wouldn't go back even though the money was good.
    1. The grinder is just heavy!!!!
    2. It's hard labor, especially if you're a woman.
    3. You're lucky if you get like a 5-year contract. It was always 6 month, 1-year, 2 years contracts and can be very frustrating, coz you always go back to the unemployment queue.
