RnBass do I need to learn how to play the piano to make beats cuz I wanna start making beats... or can teach myself
Ron. G Use the piano roll or just use samples for the melody/chords
This Deputy guy seems like a cool dude. Refreshing to hear him say "yeah this took me like 30 hours" instead of the BS you hear someone like DJ Mustard say - yeah breh breh, created this tune in like 5.5 minutes, naww mean??
Spend time on yo' craft.
facts! cats be lying on time.
if mustard even actually produced it lmao
you should hear mustard's producing on rihanna - needed me. its really different from his other sounds
G Eazy If you check the single credits, DJ Mustard is not listed as the only producer. There's also Twice as Nice, Frank Dukes and Harrell. That's why it sounds so different as what you're hearing is probably just his clap and nothing else haha
When dudes say that they're usually referring to just the arrangement. You could open track after track and make a dope melody in minutes. It's going from the basic sequence to arranging and mixing that takes up all those other hours.
Add vocals and it gets even more complex.
Ya'll hear that? It took this man 30 something hours to make this beat. Dude didn't make this beat in 10 or 15 minutes or even a hour. 30 something hours son. To make ill beats you gotta spend some time. Yeah some beats you can make fast, but some beats might take you a long time. This man gonna be eating off this song for a long time.
30hrs seem long to a modern day fuck boy... That's not a big deal. Unless you was born in the 2000's #GTFOH
I am schocked that everyone here is schocked that it takes time to produce a beat.. other genre's it's like 30 hours minimum.
30 hours if your a beginner.
Put it a full decade and and you can do it in 4.
Noobs believe anything
So just let em believe shit its their choice
Ugh that piano part is so beautiful
From start to finish.. one of the dopest pieces of production i've heard thus far. We gotta work !
@7:29 when he plays just the bass drum with the metallic percussion is awesome. hearing all the different 808 hits goes hard as fuck!!!
That was dope! A lot of people fail to realize there it much more to producing than just adding kicks and snares.
so many layers, yet doesnt sound too busy. A mark of a great producer
All you music programmers or producers out there take notes on the individuality and creativity as it pertains to creating that sound. This guy hit his stride. ☆
I love hearing the behind the scenes. Props!
You really get to appreciate the beat once you see the breakdown. Props man!!
I like the weirdness. It ads that unsettling feeling to the song. The beat gives if that predatory mood. It's nice.
Tbh that's how I feel when people owe me and just decide they gonna do as they please lol.
Doesn't have to be money either.
He’s extremely talented, I’m blown away by how complicated it looks. Amazing.
Them drums tho!!!!
It’s good to see the person behind this my favorite Rihanna song....I love how hard this song is. So much grit.
wow. so much talent. and its crazy because people think it's all noise and rah rah music but this is so unique
I like when those meter get reds as hell…...
Thats y J Dilla had to make a song about that exact thing! "Yall niggas must be out of ur head if ur systems not turned up to the red!
that means shit is peaking and thats bad lmfao
Daniel F. exactly !!!! finally !
maybe you were being sarcastic, but i mean, i think its acceptable for beat to clip right there, because he aint mastered it yet
Daniel F. red = wrong = loosing info
Yo that piano at 5:30 sounds like the beginning of the Harry Potter theme..
songwriters must feel terrible man. Its like being a sidechick to a married nigga, FOREVER.
trueeeeeee ( 2chaninz voice )
And even if you are a massive producer, most people won't recognize you in the streets. So anonymity must be pretty cool too.
Damn that's crazy so Rihanna was really just there to say the already written words and take all the credit. Producers are the linemen of the music industry
Man thats craazy
definitely one of my favorite songs of 2015 and I´m not a huge rihanna fan ! great work man
Wow..This was already one of my favorite tracks of this year and now I have more of an appreciation for the track after seeing this..
Sonically, it's an amazing song. Great sounds throughout.
He said 30 hours like that was a lot... Music has changed so much. *DOPE RECORD THOUGH*
Fun is the magic, just having fun flowing and no thinking. Seems like all the cool song are made out of pure fun, flow and some random "coincidence, Love it 😊
Great instrument for a child to start learning music. That steel drum does something for the soul.
I'm a bonafided "beat enthusiast", and this beat is one of my favorites in today's market (alone with Beyonce's Partition). However, it's crazy to me how some producers construct their beats with a SHIT LOAD of sounds, layers and elements - and then there are those other producers (like Jake One) who rarely use more than 6-7 sounds in his beats, yet he's an award winning producer. I know everyone has their own style of beatmaking, but I tend to be more impressed by those who create dope beats with less tracks because that kind of creativeness fuels me. This beat is track-heavy, but it's dope af... I still think Jake One would have made this same beat with 5 tracks though, LOL.
+ViXenBeats You make an interesting point here man.
+ViXenBeats JakeOne is the man.
CahlajWasHere I love JakeOne! Jake and S1 are my absolute favorites in the game today... those guys are THE Truth!!!
d
Daniel Mizrahi No, not in ALL his beats. I've seen quite a few of his beat making videos, and he has made some original beats (6-7 tracks total) using only his own creativeness - no sampling at all. I'm not knocking this or any other producers style of creating (IJS), "I" tend to be more impressed by those that use less. I still think this beat is dope though.
Very cool. Lots of details I didn't catch
I think the industry itself has all of us confused.. where producers has made us believe that 5 minute beats and 30 minute beats have made hits.. this adds relief to me.. making beats in just about the same hours.. dividing it into a number of days
Shit makes me want to delete all my flps bruh
+Yung Deeno lmao real
+Yung Deeno lmaoo
+Yung Deeno na keep going bro
#100
+Yung Deeno Why is that? It just takes a little trial and error to get better.
Track listing made it seem like it was wondagurl, Travis Scott, and Kanye lol they literally added nothing
+b lol yea credits can be so misleading. Must be frustrating for the person who puts in the bulk of the work. Especially when they are a lesser known producer.
+b travis scott wrote most of it
No... Bebe Rhexa wrote it. Travis scott wasn't there.
+b Kanye suggested the bridge portion. That's where his credits come in.
+b how did travis scott produce this then? did he tweak the drums or write i don't understand why he is in the credits
Great producer and the track is awesome, His signature sound had me like WTF is that sound that shit is dope lol!
Love original creative production and producers.. HATS OFF
Yo this is truly some remarkable work from a song that I got tired of hearing because it played all the time but I can now appreciate it again.
Crazy clippin in the DAW tho lol +17
Thought it was just me that noticed lol
+Chris Jayden well now the version is on 10.2 which is fixed and i didn't noticed much of it
+Chris Jayden hes just making sure its very very way more louder
+LilRD8718 clipping/loudness war!
+Chris Jayden dude must be doing something right though
Had to come back to this. The record was big but the beat sounds huuuuuuge. 🔥
🔥
Wow Rihanna really worked hard on this song
She's a performer.. that's her lane. ..it's not like she's ever trying to take credit for making the beats and writing the songs. So what's the problem?
That's how the music industry works. You think that an Al Pacino directs and writes the scripts of the roles he plays? Welcome to the real world.
onee actually, al Pacino had a lot of say while working on scar face
Well he's got you there guys...... shut your ass up.
She did tho, cause her voice make it amazing, BBHMM just the way she said it is dope
Sitting here as a huge fan of Rih and hearing all the shit I never knew was there... DOPE!
great great producer. I am very impressed.
That outro was so badass
🔥 make sure to subscribe
THAT OUTRO! NOTHING LIKE IT ON THE RADIO! PROPS FOR DOING YOUR OWN THING AND NOT MIMICKING THESE SAUCELESS PEOPLE
This is a beast of a production.
Well cool, realise what skill involved in making some of these tunes. Pure class Deputy
Dope, I know how hard it is to create a masterpiece, I commend you for your hard work efforts and being honest about the time you put into it!
Dope guy
wow! all this time i thought you were an affiliate producer for rihanna , but you are just spontaneous , but either way did GREAT! i first heard song on radio
And he got the Dreamville snapback on! Respect
this dudes 808s come through so well
So what did Travis Scott, Kanye West, and Wondagirl do?
+Marvel Alexander That's what I was wondering... the beat is a lil different for the video clip though.. some switches here and there
Some people will pay for the name/title. Yup they can do that.
+Marvel Alexander From the homies I know that know them, Travis did drums, Kanye had something to do with the bridge and Wondagirl had something to do with the leads.
LMAO!!
@@franciscosalcido8951 he just said he did the lead. A lot of times ppl get or claim producer credit for simple suggestions or changes or even arrangement. It sucks but thats how it is. He pretty much did it all but slight changes that were made gave them all credit and Kuk Harrell got vocal production credit
"I didn't want to do the trap hi hats" That's a trap ROLL, fam.
Already knew the Outro was crazy but hearing the detail of it makes it even more classic
dope. thanks for sharing
4.31 TO 4.35
man i would delete this sound if had this on my computer but he used it !
thats why we call em !
SUPER PRODUCERS

#flstudio12gang
yeaahhhh sick! When I first heard it I thought this's something else
This is fire, BBHMM is so dope and Rihanna really brings that guetto trap vibe to it. Real cool bts
Are we really suppose to listen for "that sound" in every beat ever made, from now on?
+love4music8 He's just saying that's his new tag. Like "Mikewillmadeit" or "Mustard on tha beat"
+love4music8
that sound of His can be done by 5 yo kid having Ableton in front of him with beat repeat loaded. nothing unique about it.
all in all you shouldn't trust a guy ever which's clipping like this on every track.
Very impressive. It gives me hope for music's future having someone as thorough as this in the music industry. It still isn't matched by Rihanna in any way, but that is my fault! lol! I've always appreciated the endless hours of work that goes into a well rounded track more than the few takes a celebrity gives in between partying & dressing up!!
A lot of time goes into these tracks. You can just tell. The world needs to start appreciating producers of this kind. Not the ones who brag a hit in 5 minutes using presets & 0 creativity. But us produkes who live the sounds. And let me tell you.. I've been makin' music for over 10 years, & I never needed any recognition. I have barely 100 subs. But that doesn't mean I love the game any less.
People need to listen to the music, & decide for themselves. Rather than lettin' popularity & trend dictate whether a producer like myself deserves to live like a peasant so that he has more time for music, than money for a life. A family. A house. I gave it all up, for the love of music. Peace to the dreamers.
this is the coolest series. i gotta go on a listening session to this song now
dude!!! RnBass sounds like a legit futuristic club genre. love it.
This is such a dope video and dope premise this is amazing to watch and hear. The fact these videos are being made is so fire!
I love this song.
.probably my fav song from her
Fuck there so casual with there genius... Fucking so creative.
that beat is dope af..when i heard the song i was sooo turnt
Ladies and Gentleman the people who make the music industry possible ^^^^^^
This beat is dope, is pure fire. This guy just inspired me to make a banger like this.
put this screen in front of me and i would be lost, love this
it's ok though!
The rise up gave me chills bruh
Dope behind the scene interview. Thank you for showing this RnBass.
Genius
this beat is HEAVY... damn...
beats normally take me a week because i do not know what i'm doing , but takes me 1 day or less when i am making beat while watching tutorial
but good news: i do not want to pay attention to effects , strings , so-on i see in software tutorial , i only pay attention to if i hear all sounds clearly that i have in music i make
fl studio ram can distort when too much channels , effects are placed there
so as soon as i play music i make i save to wav file or mp3 then start brand new project then import mp3 or wav file i made , helps fl to not distort , then i do what ever else then follow same process then save as wav file or mp3 then start new project
👍
Plain and simple he makes weird sounds sound really good.
BIG UP FROM TRINIDAD!!
very interesting process! he's got a unique style, I like it :)
he is amazing
this guy is futuristic wit it
One of my favorite beats!
Thats why some talented person who creates his/her whole song doesn't get record deals nor get what they deserves. MUSIC INDUSTRY
5:40 is where it really starts to heat up. Too fresh.
i almost forgot how fun the 'spontaneity' of producing music could be n shiid
Make sure you hear him carefully. 30 hours for ONE beat...a masterpiece takes time to get just right.
Dope!!! The sounds are crazy, but work so well together. I have to get to that level.
love the steel drum sound with the 808 drum kit! One of my favourite songs. Im curious how many instruments did you use?
so dope!!! love this
Great insight. Thanks!
boom! respect str8 out from trinidad
he's using tone 2 gladiator.....dope!!!!!
I'm definitely a new person after watch this
This is amazing.
very inspiring, totally in love with the beat
This dude is a beast! Trini stand up!
the beat heavy
Best presentation ever.
that ending goes stupid hard
So talented
DJ Mustard ... whew. Tinashe Checks In for the intro. I'm dying!
this is about the 10th time I'm watching this :) Great inspiration
