  • A growing number of diabetics are being diagnosed with a debilitating foot deformity called Charcot foot. Charcot foot often confines patients to wheelchairs for mobility, and in severe cases can require amputation. A surgery performed by orthopaedic surgeon Michael S. Pinzur, MD, enables patients such as Richard Hamiel, Jr. to walk normally again. The technique secures foot bones with an external frame made of stainless steel and aircraft-grade aluminum. How long did it take from surgery to be able to join everyone fishing and walking?

Thank you for the reply. I'll get all your information and I'll talk with my wife who is a RN at Orange Park Medical here at Orange Park Florida in Jacksonville. I'm looking at sometime next year to have this surgery redone. Thank you so much for the info.

Where is this doctor located at? I had this done but the doc that did it rushed through it and it was a bust. Another doc told me that the doc that did this to me should of used a titanium rod from the front of my foot and into my ankle. All of my bones are still in my foot.I want this redone, can this doctor help me? My foot is not deformed like most cases. My arch is collapsed.I need help, this is killing me.

Poor man but why don't they tell him the obvious - he needs to make other lifestyle choices or he will lose that foot anyway.
