Unlike other carriers, Verizon doesn’t make you jump through any hoops to unlock your phone making the process really straightforward and simple! Verizon sells phones locked to their network to mitigate theft and other fraudulent activity. But your phone is only locked for a short period of time, then it’s automatically unlocked!
For prepaid and postpaid phones, Verizon recently changed its unlocking policy. If you bought your phone before July 2019, it probably came unlocked. All you need to do is insert a SIM card from a new carrier, and you should be good to go. If that doesn’t work you may need to call customer service for help. I’m putting that number in the description below.
If you bought your phone after July 2019, you will have to wait 60 days, then Verizon will unlock in automatically.
Now if you’re in the military, you can get your phone unlocked anytime, even during the 60-day lock period. All you need to do is show proof of deployment!
Once your phone is unlocked, you can take it to a new carrier, travel abroad and use a foreign sim, or sell it. If you plan on switching carriers, make sure your phone is compatible first! Generally newer phones bought after 2017 have the technology to work on multiple carrier networks. You can check compatibility by going to your preferred carrier’s site and using their compatibility checker. As a general rule, Verizon and Sprint phones work on each others network, and T-Mobile and AT&T phones work on each others network.

I leased my phone from Verizon s10+ but only paid for half . So they locked my phone . But I can use it with at&t so is my imei number still shown as restricted from selling it? It's been 2 years already..
How about samsung s22 ultra which I waited the 60 days and now it reads my metro pcs Sim and I can make calls ( switched imei over to metro) and no internet or mms even after configuring the apn settings.... help
I bought this Samsung z fold 3 unlocked and when I put my Sim in it works for about 20 min then I get a message saying my phone is not supporting my Sim card at this time makes no sense since the phone was sold to me unlocked already from Verizon so.does that mean Verizon just scamed me out my money I'm currently using the phone but on wifi only

The video is helpful but not what i needed as i locked myself out of my old phone because i switched it from 9 digit alphanumeric Password to PIN and a week later i went to check on it as I use my old devices to run The World Community Grid program that the phone has been running since it was a new Galaxy S9. I'm trying to find out if my carrier can unlock the PIN lock before it resets / wipes the data. The phone had to be upgraded as it doesn't work on Verizons newer frequency. Anyone know if a cell carrier can unlock a PIN lock on Android Galaxy S9? Appreciate any useful information. Thanks Eddie J.

I was told 60 days after activation.. so what I did was prepaid plan 35 DLLs an i will wait for the 60 days, I was told it was not necessary for me pay again.. I'm in day 2

Verizon didn’t automatically unlock my phone even after it was paid off! I called and I was told it was released . It worked on another carrier for a few hours and then back to saying no Verizon sim!

This video is absolutely not helpful. "Just call verizon" have you tried to call verizon lately? IF you manage to get thru to an agent, you cant understand a damn thing they are saying and worse, most of them have such terrible understanding of english that they want understand anything you are saying. Tried the chat, well not a verizon customer, just bought a verizon phone on amazon and yes its locked. And cannot cannot get an agent on the line. Sat on hold for 2 hours with it just ringing and ringing, tried chat. Cant log in.. so basically.. you are screwed! Congradulations on your bran new expensive paper weight.

Yea I've got the same problem I got a galaxy s20+ online it says it was unlocked but it wasn't, I called Verizon they said that if I didn't have the phone number that was connected to the phone I was gonna have to get their 30 day pre paid plan then they will unlock it after that and I'm trying to get it unlocked without having to do that

Why won't a carrier unlock a totally paid off iphone before 60 days of use?
That’s what I’m saying I wish it was at least 30 to 45 days the least but 60 is too much they just want to stick you in them for awhile until either pay off the phone or have them in there plans and take termination fees later on it’s not fair to us if we’re gonna pay off the phones so we should have it unlocked no matter what.

Oh my old iphone was just sim locked to Verizon and I am using it here in the PH, I just followed what she said by inserting a new sim to your iphone.
I paid off my Verizon phone. And its apparently unlocked but I can't use it with AT&T. Even though its a 5G phone. They are trying to rip us off and make $.

I waited 60 days put my korean sim card in and no luck....nothing automatic about it....tried to unlock due to being in the military 3 times and they denied me. I paid full for the phone, used in they had to go back to South Korea. 60 days later, still cannot use my phone with my Korean sim card.........thanks for not helping

Customer service sucks bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you lose your phone you need a pin code. Just called them today and I never set one up. They said over and over that I need to have a 4 digit pin code. I lost my phone and cannot find it after two days of tearing up my apartment trying to find it with two others helping. Now I have to go with another carrier because they said I need a 4 digit code. The previous owner of my phone is dead but still they said I need this 4 digit pin code. What do I do dig them up out of the grave to get it. I hate your guts Verizon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am 76 and feel that technology is being forced on us. They just want to put everything on the internet where no one has to do a GD thing where we are forced to view a computer screen 12-20 hours a day. I am forced because of this mess to get a different cell phone carrier. I hate your guts Verizon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
