I'm really lucky to have gotten this captured. I was planning on recording that day, but just barely remembered to get on. I logged in around 6:00 A.M. (PST), but after around 7 A.M, you could no longer log in to the game.

thousands of toontown members stood in the plaza to stare at what could be described as pure darkness and horror. all the people could do is stand there saying their goodbyes and talk about the good times they had.. but on the second darkness engulfed toontown a worse future was seen by many a wondrous eye. but twas not a good future but a future full of penguins and online 9 year olds "dating" so the people stayed in the darkness until now..

There was some sketchy shit going on in the couple years before the game shut down. people dating was just the tip of the Iceberg. Droves of wackos with TTInjector trying to be the next Freckleslam basically forced the servers into downtime so the devs could patch things up better. I almost became friends with some guys from LEAF clan and Team Trap.

@@thomasssssssssssssssssssssssss Wow, that sounds like a novel. It sounds like it would be the situation if the cogs ever beat **all** of the toons before they have their laff back. Which is probably impossible, but don’t mind the small details. Then the toons have to move to another city/town, leaving their beloved Toontown for good. Or at least until they get their laff and gags back. Anyways, I’ve never played ToonTown online, I’ve always been on Rewritten (which I’ve been playing for 6+ years), so this gave me both chills and a look of the og ToonTown. 8 years later.
But I have a question and that is, who was the last ever toon to be disconnected? Who was the toon that stuck around the longest? and was the last person to see the light of Toontown online? Who was it? Was it recorded? We may never know, but I certainly want to.

I miss the original ToonTown Online. I never really played it that much, but I always wanted to as a youngin'. I remember the first time I played I installed it on my parents XP and the computer was so bad that the game lagged like crazy, but I loved every minute of it. Then several years later after stumbling across some ToonTown videos on CZcams I wanted to play the game again and did. I played until I needed a membership and begged my mom for one. I played the crap of it. It was an amazing 2 months. I went around and had so much fun. I got my buddies to jump on and make free accounts and play with me and we all had a blast. This game will always hold a special place in my heart as a nostalgic childhood game and a game that was extremely fun to play and brought me and my friends together. Thank god for ToonTown Rewritten, but I will always miss my two favorite Toons... Rest In Peace, Nick & Good Ol' Jellyrole
In those years I was very small, when it closed I was only 7 years old, now... I have a vague memory when an uncle of mine let me play this game for 2 days, I regret not being able to remember more.... They are just images I have of when I play it, and
I know of the existence of Toontown rewritten, when trying to create the account tells me that a virus is detected ... I don't know how to solve it, but... To be honest I don't care about the virus my notebook may have, I just want to play Toontown Rewritten (at least)
Watching this video just made me see into the past of toontown, the happiness, the sadness, the adventure, the nostalgia... All of my wonderful toontown adventure... and when I saw the game close.. I felt a tear trying to escape my eye... Toontown will not be forgotten for a very long time...

Aaron S Uhh.. no, it's just that I couldn't pay for the stuff in the old ToonTown to go to certain areas of the game, but ToonTown Rewritten makes it free. Therefore, I can do what I could never do in the original ToonTown. I do care about my childhood. Stop accusing people of things that they aren't.
This was a big part of my childhood. I was born in a city called Araraquara in Brazil. I used to play this all time when I was 6 until I was about 8-9, then the Brazilian one closed. I cried so much. Then I moved to live in the U.S.A for 2 years, and started playing this one, and now this is what happens to it. Is this what you really do to your games Disney? You just get all the money, and end them, bash them, hurt peoples feelings? I can assure you I will NEVER play another Disney game in my LIFE. Not even if it's a life/death situation which I don't know why it would be, but I never will.

I remember my mom was the one that got me addicted to this game. As a child I would always watch her play ToonTown until I eventually got my own account and started playing. ToonTown was one of a kind.
i got on as early as i could that day and then some fireworks went off right when it was about to end and my eyes got teary and when i saw the ' server has disconnected ' thing i started crying so bad because i didnt even get to say bye to my very very very best friend on toontown but thats all gone because i found her again and now we r friends ( im not sure if its really her because she keeps calling me hon but my old friend didnt do that ) but a few days after it closed i had a dream where my friend ( tall blue cat named princess cuddles ) and i were racing and i woke up crying a little but thats the day i figured out toontown rewritten :)

I remembering logging into my account before school, just so that my toon could be there for the last moments while I was away. I came home to the disconnection notice, and there went years of memories and years of friends that I hoped would log on one more time, but never did.

Hackers compromised the servers hours before the game was actually supposed to close, I bet the game creators had another message planned but the hackers ruined it for them :(
Toontown Online, AKA the best mmo to exist on Earth closed for a crappy flash game about penguins and talking cushions with totally not overpriced memberships. I have made a list of all the things you can do in Toontown and all the things you can do in Crap Penguin.
Toontown:
1. Collect every fish species.
2. Fight the cogs with funny and unique gags.
3. Level up your gags to level 7.
4. Play minigames on the trolley.
5. Go on a spending spree with jellybeans.
6. Customize your Toon to your hearts content.
7. Defeat all 4 bosses.
8. Get every racing trophy and become the champion.
9. Goof off with friends.
10. Complete factories and build your cog disguise.
11. Make up to 6 toons (or make multiple accounts for unlimited.)
12. Fight every single different type of cog in the game.
Club Penguin:
1. Waddle.
2. Just regular real life based money, no colourful jellybeans.
3. Buy overpriced membership.
4. Waste your time.
5. Click stuff.
There you go. Like this comment if you were a Toontown Online player or play any Toontown server.
And the sadder thing is, the joyful ToonTown music is just casually playing in the background while the whole server is literally sending their final messages for this game 😞

Wow! There's something kind of magical about hearing Mickey's signature laugh along with the Toontown Central music. I play Toontown Rewritten and the game is just as good but knowing that I will never be able to hear Mickey's laugh in the game just hits me in the feels.
I liked club penguin! But I apologize for every Toon who lost everything because of what happened. If I owned a major game like this and was forced to close it, I WOULDN'T! I would keep passing the development on to my kids, just for you!

The Breakfast Fiction Do you know about Minecraft? Minecraft is a MAJOR game. It's the most successful MMO/Singleplayer game in the world. Minecraft allowed you to do anything you want. If there are things that weren't in, you modify Minecraft. There is a Singleplayer and Multiplayer option, and almost every gamer has heard of the mighty Minecraft. The company that made it (Mojang) had produced that and Realms, and took part in Cobalt, so they could focus on their games more. That's when Microsoft took over, so now Minecraft is being funded by the biggest company in the world! That's Disney's problem. They make too many game (which are great!) and they have to take care of it on their own. I don't know much about ToonTown (I never played it) so I'm going to play Toontown Rewritten.
No offense, but we all know about Minecraft. I mean it's literally everywhere. So there is no point in explaining literally everything about a game that everyone knows about.

I remember playing on this from 2007-2009ish and it was a huge part of my childhood! I spent a lot of time getting my blue mouse called CoolBizzy as high as I could get it. When I read that they were shutting it down even though I have not played it for years I still felt quite sad that after 10 years they just pulled the plug like that! Still... good luck to toontown rewritten! Keep the game alive
Sometimes I think, that disney could buy Toontown rewritten and improve it a little more... And lugo I realize that maybe closing it was going to be better, and that what happened with Club penguin did not happen to him.

this game was my childhood. the shutdown in 2013 traumatized me because my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer and passed away a year after the shutdown.
It shouldn't have said your connection to the servers have been unexpectedly broken. It should have said your heart was unexpectedly broken.
Oh man, I wish it could back someday. It was amazing to play a game like that, with all 3D views and sooo much stuff to do. Seeing people, and walking around. Toontown was amazing!

From a business standpoint, it makes sense. The games lasted longer than it should have. I think a lot of the players that are saying that Disney doesn't care about the players and things like that are too young to understand the concept of money and how a company runs. There's other games, and reportedly another Toontown/MMO coming from Disney that will be announced this year at E3 2014.

It was the day. Toons were in a riot, making thought bubbles that talked trash about Disney, asking them why they would do this. The happy TTC music was still playing and the Mickey NPC was unaware of what was about to happen. All the toons looked around on the playground, knowing that all of that would all be deleted. And when the server unexpectedly broke like that, there's no point on logging back on again. Now all that's left is a useless launcher in their desktop. The only remnant of the game that was truly one of the best MMOs out there. Everything in that world was deleted. Everyone in that world was deleted. ( Not really, Disney has those Toon files somewhere ) There was nothing left... THEN PRIVATE SERVERS! 😃

funny how they closed TTO to continue capitalizing on Club Penguin, and then 4 years later they throw Club Penguin under the bus for a shitty bastardized version of it.
At least both games are now living on as Rewritten servers that don't require you to pour all your money into, and I still play both to this day, but I will never forget all the good memories I made on the originals
