About the start of thw fight. I think it more along the line that Jack thinks Afro is a serial killer and a villain that needs to be put down quickly. Elijah Walker Lucy's vectors vibrate at different frequencies so those are the only sound based weapons she has but the reach they have is pretty good.
Just keep in mind of how insanely powerful the Carnage suit is, Cletus once managed to turn into a fucking Kaiju sized Carnage. Hell look at the most recent user of the suit, Norman Osborne took down every Spider-Man and Silk, killed Flash Thompson (Anti Venom) and beat the shit out of Eddie Brock’s Venom. The suit is an absolute nightmare that is insanely durable .
I think it would have been a far more even fight if Afro fought Mugen from Samurai Champloo….Then again, it would probably be another curb stomp, only in Afro's favor.

And I still disagree with the Hulk one, but even there the logic was that a.) Due to the chemistry of the human brain, Hulk couldn't have remained angry for long enough, which is not the case at all with Carnage, and b.) Doomsday was immune to blunt force. A point which is moot with Carnage.
