And what I hope works well for everyone else. LET KE KNOW WHAT YOUR TREATMENT ROUTINE MAY BE LIKE AND HOW YOU TREAT YOUR TATTOO 👊🏼
Saniderm or second skin is the best way to go. Hands down. I have been using it for over 200 hours of work now and the tattoos look better once healed too!
Just started peeling and itching on my first tattoo while i was at work, and I did not care if everyone thought I was weird 😂 After slapping my arm I felt so relieved it was worth it 😂😂
Don’t ever pick your tattoo . You risk taking the ink out and messing your tattoo! Please take my comment into consideration as I have multiple tattoos
Got my first tattoo about two weeks ago now. I first used a tattoo ointment specifically from the shop I got my tattoo at and used if for about 4 or 5 days and then switched to moisturizer for the rest of my recovery/healing process still till this day and the moisturizer I used was La Roche Posay and my tattoo is looking really good so now I know what to continue using/doing when I get more tattoos:)
After some experimenting I use Hustle Butter while being tattooed and afterwards. It is an all natural product and seems to let my skin breathe better. My tattoo artists used it instead of Vaseline while tattooing me on the last two tatts. After it healed I continue to use Hustle Butter on all my tattoos, which keeps them looking vibrant and the skin moisturized. My artist didn't origiinally recommend this, but after both of us researching it and and trying it out it sees t be working well for me.
Thomas my good friend. Agree with you all on it, I just started using it aswell and I really do like it as it's a vegan replacement for petroleum based products. Still testing it out but finding it does bring more vibrancy to my tattoos and keeps my skin mosturized. Plus you don't need alot to put on. Different from what I normally use on my tattoo for just day to day maintenance keeping my tattoos looking thier best. 👌🏽

There are 2 things I’ve always done. It worked for ME. One my tattoo artist is old school and used the pads and tape. I leave those on from the time I get the tattoo to next morning. Then I wash it and leave it alone for 2 days only washing couple times a day. Once ny skin starts feeling tighter like it’s pulling i apply the curel fragrance free lotion. If you look all the brands have same ingredients so any lotion with mostly water and glycrerin is good. Oh and don’t be a dummy and keep it clean
Hustle Butter or Aquaphor for ointment , Dial Gold for cleaning / soap , and Lubriderm for lotion 👌🏾 And have some shirts you don’t mind getting all the products on , it’s annoying but useful
I recently got hustle butter and it works as a great aftercare long after the tattoos healed. Makes them look vibrant and dark. And yeah agree with the shirt idea. Thanks for the comment bro 🙏🏼👊🏼

hello Justin. I do clean my tattoo like you said after I leave the tattoo shop. Wait a couple of hours and change the wrap. The only thing is, I put aquaphor and then the new wrap for the night. Is that wrong? Is there any risk of damaging the tattoo or getting infected? As always, your advice will be very helpful for me. Thanks.
Tattoo aftercare treatment is like a asshole everyone has one lol... Back in the day everyone said to use A&d ointment. Now all I and most people I know use is lubriderm from leaving the shop. Mine always turn out fine. But very informative video especially for newbies 👍
I make these videos for that reason, so thank you so much it means alot to hear that I could be of help 🙏🏼 ALSO... How was your first tattoo experience!? What did you get and where?! Already getting that itch for more tattoo's 😉
@@justinkd My first tattoo experience was great! It didn't hurt as much as I thought it would. I got it on my arm. It's a tattoo of a bear surrounded by jasmine flowers to represent the strength of my grandmother. She was the quintessential "Mama Bear" of the family and she loved jasmine. I got the tattoo in Montreal at DFA Tattoos. I'm already itching to get another one... but right now this tattoo is still healing and it literally itches at this point, lol.
Gaddocks that's an amazing tattoo Because of the meaning behind it! Really like how it sounds 🙏🏼 and you'll be getting another one eventually, for now save up and plan 👌🏼 also now that it's itchy, make sure to slap it. Works very well in getting rid of the feeling
I just got my first one on Tuesday. My artist put the second skin wrap. He said to take it off either Friday or Saturday. So I'm gonna take it off today. So now I can wash and and put aquaphor now?
Thanks for the tips. I am doing my whole shin and calf and requires different sessions. My question is, Every time I have a session I use aquaphor as ointment in the new work done. Then I switch to moisturizer (lubriderm). So, everytime I get new work done would you recommend to use ointment in the new work and keep moisturizer in the job was done previously? Thanks
Just found your channel and wanted to say awesome video and awesome sleeve. I have a bunch of tattoos on both arms and just wanted to say the shop I go to use the tegaderm patch which heals the tattoo incredibly fast. I leave the patch on for four days and then after that I just wash it twice a day and use After Inked lotion. That seems to work the best for me for healing my tattoos. Just wanted to ask if you have ever heard of After Inked and what are your thoughts just comparing it to Lubriderm or Aveeno.. Thanks...
Hey what's up Pete! Thanks for the awesome words 👊🏼 and that's awesome. I've never used tegaderm or anything else related but have always wanted to try and see how it would perform. Also have never heard of the after inked but I'll definitely look it up and get it for myself to see how it works 👊🏼
I currently have 9 separate tattoos, just had another one today actually. I asked my artist about this and she said A&D was fine. It’s all I have ever used. Liquid Dial anti-bac soap and A&D. Always have great healing, no infections and condition of tattoos has stayed awesome. I’m interested in the cocoa butter suggestion in this video.. no one has ever recommended that to me before.
I normally use dove Unscented everyday but when I got my tattoo I switched to dial which I think has made it real itchy. I’m switching to my normal dove I didn’t know dove was antibacterial!
Soo much information out there. I have 4 tattoos and I'm getting my sleeve in a month so watched many videos because in the past I only used Bepanthen or whatever its called. Haven't got a tat in over 4 years, now I wanna test out these new methods. Out of all the videos I like yours the most, you are chill and explain everything properly. I will do your method on my new sleeve. Also can you tell me how can I wrap up my chest tattoo, because I'm getting it touched up along with my sleeve, because you said the first night you should wrap it ? Thank you bruh :)
Yeah that's the thing with this kinda topic.. so much info and so many different methods. And that's awesome what are you going to be getting?! 👌🏼AND THANK YOU!! That means alot to hear, just want everyone to get the most out of these videos with information. And for the chest when the artist touches it up, they should cover it up aswell after being done because that's just sterilization techniques all use and do. Follow the same way they put the bandage when putting it back on. If not try your best to just cover it for the night then you should be good to go 👌🏼
@@justinkd Ok bro,thx for the reply I am getting a gambling sleeve mixed with masks, chess and stuff like that. I will also put in some of my smaller tattoos in there like dice, diamonds and a puzzle one (me and my artist made it together). Also there is gonna be a little bit of space on the inner forearm and my own quote that I made will be there. The sleeve is a big representation of my life and the way I see the world. I almost died 3 times and my life was literally a gamble so on the roulette table and on the dice the numbers will add up to the 3 dates I survived. I've been planning this one for 2 years now and finally got the time and $ to do it. Studying, mma and work been killing me lol
Damn bro I gotta say that all sounds absolutely fucking sick!!! Really like the meaning behind it all and how you're incorporating alot of stuff into it. That's good you took your time with the planning of it and even better you saved the $ to do it right. Would love to see the final product one day if you're ever up to send it 👌🏼 all the best to you 👊🏼
@@justinkd Thank you my man, your sleeves of Poseidon,Zeus and Greece are also really good and who ever did them knew what they where doing. I study philosophy and stoicism so when I saw them I really liked them, also you are built for those tattoos.
I have used Lubiderm on all my tattoo except for one because the artist specifically wanted me to use Aveeno with oatmeal lotion for my tattoo. I’m currently in the market for a new soap to use on a new tattoo. I go may 11th for my 7th tattoo. I usually use clear unscented hand soap on my tattoos. One time I used a bar of Dove soap my mom had. And for my 6th tattoo I use a brand called Ivory. But I wanted a smaller bottle of liquid soap to use on a new tattoo that I could also use as a body wash. I saw one online called Aveeno unscented for daily moisturizer wasn’t sure if that was any good. I also saw at Walmart dove brand of soap. It was unscented for irritation care wasn’t sure if that was any good either.
I have a recommendation. Use aquafor or coconut oil for the healing process and when it gets to the itchy days, dab a thin layer of bepanthan which will dull the itch. Works for me
Thank you so much and I know he's great and love him 👌🏽 that's awesome! What do you have? Love leg sleeve and want one myself. And honestly it's such a relief When that itch goes away
I have customized Samoan leg sleeve im 11.5 hrs in and got about 7 more hours to go, shin bone very spicy but behind the knee cap had me in a few happy tears.... shading is a killer but all in all the itch is worse then actually getting it, next session is in 8weeks
so i just got my tattoo today and i was told by my artist to leave it on for 10 days, doesn’t that seem a bit too long? it’s a larger tattoo on my leg i’m not sure if i should listen to my artist or go ahead and take the wrap off and clean it
How long into your healing process? If it's already done peeling and Everything is flaked off then you can pretty much use whatever you want. Just use very little to make sure the skin isn't clogged and can breathe 😊
What’s your opinion on the h20ocean aftercare? I am currently using that for my first tattoo in the inner bicep. It’s day 5, I have little peeling and some parts feel a little dry.
Is their a type of moisturizer sunscreen you’d suggest ? So instead of putting on any other type of lotion every single time I walk outside I have the tattoo already moisturized and protected .
I got my first tattoo today had a hard time finding unscented soap but it was antibacterial, but i didnt know it was a liquid n not a cream or foam based, so ima go get a block of dove soap instead n use the aveeno or whatever is is lotion, n you said coconut lotion is ok to use?
I was always told to never use antibacterial soap, neosporin and Vaseline on a tattoo by every artist I went to. I've always used A&D ointment and Aquaphor for mine
As long as you cover the area and wash yourself before and after you should be ok after two weeks of good care. This obviously depends on the location of the tattoo, make sure that if you run you are not constantly applying friction to the area. Chest, belly, back, face tattoos are ok to run with but those in the forearms or inner parts where you have constant friction with the tattoo and body. Hope this is helpful. Also follow his advice, it is very good and precise.
Love your channel man. Just got my first tattoo today! Lion with a crown on my shoulder. I also got the same dove soap as you, is it antibacterial? Ik its scent free which is a plus but is it also antibacterial?
Can I use Shea butter on my new tattoo??...it just finished peeling... I was told by my tattoo artist to use Vaseline, which I did. But I don't know if I can switch to Shea butter
I have my first tattoo done and i used lubriderm moisturizer on my first day on the second wash. Is it okay to use moisturizer since day 1 i don’t know where i can find the ointment in my country? i’m currently on day 2
I always like to be over cautious and wait two weeks but you can go after a week if you really want. I’d say the bigger the piece the longer you should wait
getting my lower half sleeve in 4 days, gotta go to work as a mechanic the next day, do I just wrap it and wear a loose long sleeve shirt all day ? Can I leave it all day wrapped until im off or should I bring everything and clean it at lunch ?
You’re a mechanic so a very dirty job. My advice is to either use Saniderm because it will be a great protective barrier but if not then make sure to wear some plastic wrap for the first couple days, wear a long sleeve, make sure you’re not sticking you hand down areas that can getscratched, and wash it every 3 hours or soo
I got a quote on my forearm on Monday and it’s been five days but it hasn’t even started peeling. Should I still be putting aquaphore or switch to lotion regardless if it’s peeing or not ?
At the very least, make sure not to expose a new tattoo to direct sunlight for the first month of having it - especially the first two weeks. Not only will sun exposure during this time cause the tattoo's colors to fade, but it could actually burn your skin and scar it from sun damage.
@@justinkd i was also wondering this, is the sole reason for switching over because its easier to apply? The ointment im using (h2ocean aquatat) is easy to apply and ive still been using it a few days now into flaking, or am i doing it wrong and need to switch to a lotion asap?
You can use that if you want. It’s definitely a lot easier to apply aswell but usually a moisturizer offers different properties than healing ointments do
Hi I got a hand tat and I’m peeling and it’s my 5 day should i stay using lubriderm or use a and d oniment still and when u do our more of the lotion since u have to keep it moisturize
⁉️🤷♂️ HELP QUESTION: So day 1-3 I know wash and soap but do I then put on coco butter on and then right after put on the Lubriderm right after or should I wait to put on the moisturize for a certain period of time after the healing lotion or just skip the lotion on the healing lotion days 🤷♂️⁉️
I got my tattoo Thursday and my artist told me to use baby lotion in the pink bottle. I used it until Saturday and got aquaphor. How long do I need to use it and should I get cetaphyl. Also it hasn't start peeling it's just a little scabby.
I don’t know what lotion that is but if you got aquaphor then you’re fine to use it up until about day 4. After that switch to any unscented moisturizer. Peeling should start very soon

Just got my first tattoo thanks for this !
Hey man great vid! Just discovered your channel! Im excited to see upcoming vids!
Thank you so much! Going to get more content out there 🙏🏼
Thankyou for this, and for writing it in the description box helps so much xxx😘😘
Want to make sure all the information is out there 👊🏼
Hey, I’ve been using aquaphor for 2 weeks now, should I just switch to regular lotion at this point?
YESSS switch over!! You should only be using that for the first couple days. After day 4/5 you should be using mosturizer
Dude yes. Aquaphor only for first few days and then switch over to an actual moisturizing lotion
@@justinkd can you apply as much lubiderm you want after those first two weeks
Thanks for the tips. I am doing my whole shin and calf and requires different sessions. My question is, Every time I have a session I use aquaphor as ointment in the new work done. Then I switch to moisturizer (lubriderm). So, everytime I get new work done would you recommend to use ointment in the new work and keep moisturizer in the job was done previously? Thanks
Yeah you should ALWAYS be moisturizing your older tattoos. Keeps the skin looking it’s best and the tattoo pops
@@justinkd Thanks. You have been very helpful
I’m getting my first tattoo soon and I’ve been watching your Tattoo Aftercare vids and people also use A&D healing ointment do you recommend that ?
I currently have 9 separate tattoos, just had another one today actually. I asked my artist about this and she said A&D was fine. It’s all I have ever used. Liquid Dial anti-bac soap and A&D. Always have great healing, no infections and condition of tattoos has stayed awesome. I’m interested in the cocoa butter suggestion in this video.. no one has ever recommended that to me before.
@@3dogmom that’s exactly what I use for my tatt aftercare and it’s healing great . Thanks for the info 🤗
Just got my second tattoo had to come back to this
Lubriderm was all I used for all my tattoos great stuff gonna try the tegaderm sometime in the next week I got a few appointments coming up
Thanks for the advice Justin 😉👍🏼
Greetings from Costa Rica 🇨🇷 Pura Vida !
I normally use dove Unscented everyday but when I got my tattoo I switched to dial which I think has made it real itchy. I’m switching to my normal dove I didn’t know dove was antibacterial!
That's was a good video bro, greetings from Mexico ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
I used silver miracle gel and silver miracle healing cream. No scab and very little peel.
This was so helpful 🙏🏻 Thank you!
Thank you!! All the best with yours 👊🏼
Goodmorning sir!
I just want to know, if its ok to use MATRIX TOTAL RESULTS Hydrating/Hydratant lotion aftercare for tattoos?
What lotion should i use bro? The one you show on the screen (lubriderm) or the unscented one that you are holding? 🤔 Im on my day 10 of my tattoo.
hello! i love your videos. i have a quick questions. what are your thoughts on saniderm/tegaderm?
Going to be trying it out for my next tattoo so I’ll let you know soon but I’ve heard amazing things!!
Your tattoos look amazing! My favorite one is the Anubis one! 🐕🐺
It was unscented for irritation care wasn’t sure if that was any good either.
got my first tattoo Monday thanks for the tips
Thank you for your great explanation!!!
Thank you for doing this. I was having such a hard time with aveeno. It makes me break out like crazy. Lubriderm is my saving grace. xD
That’s by far my favourite moisturizer
The thick eczema aveeno made me breakout too. Kept it moisturized but ugg.
I have a recommendation. Use aquafor or coconut oil for the healing process and when it gets to the itchy days, dab a thin layer of bepanthan which will dull the itch. Works for me
I’ll look into that next time I have a tattoo and see for myself! Thanks for the comment and hope it’s able to help someone else out 👊🏼
@@justinkd wow thanks for replying bro! Love your content and personality
Yoo!! I just got my first tattoo today . I got a question tho , do I apply healing ointment under the wrap for the night or just the wrap itself ?
I love your sleeves you have chosen awesome artists.... i have a leg sleeve no better relief then a good slap ...
Very nice 👌🏽 I'm not looking forward to the leg. I was told a leg sleeve is what separates the men from the boys compared to a arm 😅
Lets just say Alicia keys was correct about shin tattoos.... your shinn gonna be on fiiiiiiiirrrrree
so i just got my tattoo today and i was told by my artist to leave it on for 10 days, doesn’t that seem a bit too long? it’s a larger tattoo on my leg i’m not sure if i should listen to my artist or go ahead and take the wrap off and clean it
Hi my tattoo is n its healing process. It already peeled . Can i use aqueous non cented cream or coco butter lotion with vitamin e?
How long into your healing process? If it's already done peeling and Everything is flaked off then you can pretty much use whatever you want. Just use very little to make sure the skin isn't clogged and can breathe 😊
What’s your opinion on the h20ocean aftercare? I am currently using that for my first tattoo in the inner bicep. It’s day 5, I have little peeling and some parts feel a little dry.
Personally I have never used it but I’ve heard good things about it 👊🏼
Is their a type of moisturizer sunscreen you’d suggest ? So instead of putting on any other type of lotion every single time I walk outside I have the tattoo already moisturized and protected .
There is acouple out there but none that I’ve used (yet) just look for anything that’s got atleast an spf 30+
Lubriderm is really good it helps and comforts my skin eventhough I'm diabetic it's actually helping with my tatt
My favourite moisturizer. Literally just bought some 👌🏼
I got my first tattoo today had a hard time finding unscented soap but it was antibacterial, but i didnt know it was a liquid n not a cream or foam based, so ima go get a block of dove soap instead n use the aveeno or whatever is is lotion, n you said coconut lotion is ok to use?
Love your tips always coming in clutch💯💯
I was always told to never use antibacterial soap, neosporin and Vaseline on a tattoo by every artist I went to. I've always used A&D ointment and Aquaphor for mine
Really.. not even antibacterial soap?! That’s odd
Recomiendas aquapor?
Just watched all your video’s! Had my second sleeve done Yesterday :D
When do you think I can start running again? After 2 weeks or 3 weeks ?
Peace !
Rub soap in gentle even if its peeling? Just curious if do this when its process of peeling
Yeah still continue to wash and rub in the soap
Love your channel man. Just got my first tattoo today! Lion with a crown on my shoulder. I also got the same dove soap as you, is it antibacterial? Ik its scent free which is a plus but is it also antibacterial?
Dove actually has a new soap that's specifically antibacterial. I realize your comment was 5 months ago but the info might help someone out
@@kaciesurber3482 haha all good 💞
Can I use Shea butter on my new tattoo??...it just finished peeling...
I was told by my tattoo artist to use Vaseline, which I did. But I don't know if I can switch to Shea butter
I have my first tattoo done and i used lubriderm moisturizer on my first day on the second wash. Is it okay to use moisturizer since day 1 i don’t know where i can find the ointment in my country? i’m currently on day 2
Can I use Jergens ultra healing after day 5?
i use glysomed but i have a vasoline lotion that i found makes my skin not itchy
G.O.A.T ! I just got my first tatt today
Some artists also said just use Bepanthen throughout the healing process....
Bepathen used to be recommended but they have changed the ingredients in the last couple years and now it’s not good for tattoos
Denver Smith thanks for the info mate...
Excellent video man. Hey how long should I wait before working out again?
If switch over to mosturizer now and do it only once a day along with one wash
JustINKD so I should stop aquaphore and switch to lotion now right?
Yeah
Thank man very appreciative helped me a ton cheers
Glad to help!! 👊🏼👊🏼
Ive used antibacterial safeguard Bar hand soap for my tattoo and it works good
Yeup!! As long as it’s an antibacterial soap you’re good to use 👊🏼
@@justinkd thanks😊👍
Tham bro I'm hours away from my tattoo appointment, getting down this info for afterwards, thanks you
I'm 18 just got my first tattoo done friday, I love it!
Thank You for all ❤ this
So I should cut off on the aquaphor and switch over to Aveno/lubriderm after day 5 or 6?
I’m on day six of my tatto and I didn’t use any cream except lotion on day 5 and it has some big scabs what should I do
For me when I got the scabbing I avoided putting anything on that certain spot. Continue to put mosturizer on once a day but everywhere else
Hey man, as always good video! I may be getting my first tattoo soon! 😁😁😁
Thank you so much!! And do it up!!! Get it done and send me a picture of it 👊🏼👌🏼🙌🏼
JustINKD what would be the best way to send you the picture? I happily will, may have exaggerated on the soon part. It will be about 3-4 months!
Surxio perfect!!! What i like to hear 👌🏼 and you can send it to me at my IG account.. justinkd_tatts 👊🏼
JustINKD when I get my tattoo I gotchu!
I use Nivea cream and goes great
What’s the sun ☀️ protection UV cream you use?
At the very least, make sure not to expose a new tattoo to direct sunlight for the first month of having it - especially the first two weeks. Not only will sun exposure during this time cause the tattoo's colors to fade, but it could actually burn your skin and scar it from sun damage.
Great video man just one question...I’m confused at what point you stop using ointment and switch to moisturizer/lotion? When it starts peeling?
I usually switch over once the tattoo starts to flake
@@justinkd i was also wondering this, is the sole reason for switching over because its easier to apply? The ointment im using (h2ocean aquatat) is easy to apply and ive still been using it a few days now into flaking, or am i doing it wrong and need to switch to a lotion asap?
You can use that if you want. It’s definitely a lot easier to apply aswell but usually a moisturizer offers different properties than healing ointments do
Lubriderm burned lol. The tattoo shop I went to gave me “hustle butter deluxe” (yeah, weird name) but I feel like it’s way better
I have hustle butter on the way to test it out soon. Have heard very good things about it but lubriderm is really good (for me atleast)
You put only the healing ointment on first for the first 1-4 days. Then after that switch over to moisturizer. Don’t use both at the same time 👊🏼
Great video 🙌🏼
Would regular Aveeno fragrance free lotion work? Or shea butter?
What tattoo wash do you recommend I heard your meant to use no spell soap
I got my tattoo Thursday and my artist told me to use baby lotion in the pink bottle. I used it until Saturday and got aquaphor. How long do I need to use it and should I get cetaphyl. Also it hasn't start peeling it's just a little scabby.
I don’t know what lotion that is but if you got aquaphor then you’re fine to use it up until about day 4. After that switch to any unscented moisturizer. Peeling should start very soon
