All symbolize the forthcoming demise of Yagami Light, and that too in the same fashion: Cardiac Arrest. Not to mention the two shadows symbolizing Mello and Near as well.
I love this scene because, it's been six years since the death of L. For Light, he has no more obstacles to create his New World... Suddenly, one guy reveals that he knows about the existence of the Death Note, and kidnaps his sister for that. Then, another guy appears that knows that knows that he's not the real L Light knows that his days of tranquility are over. L successors had arrived

Truth is if he hadn’t killed L he would have been busted in about 13 days. He had no choice. Perhaps L knew that he would die at Kira’s hands, but he also thought that if that had happened somebody out of Watari’s children would avenge him.
I guess the other kids in wammys house are just smart and mello and near were the most intelligent so probably killing near and mello would have been lights victory. even tho i imagine tsugumi would never let light win
The last scene where Light felt he was chained is connected to when L said this: "Besides as long as we're handcuffed together, if I die, you die the same fate."
He did say justice will ultimately prevail. He had his death in mind all the time, which Light did not take into account at all. L's idea of "winning" is not the same as Light's. By killing L, Light made it clear to Near that he is Kira with certainty because nobody outside L's organization has the authority to grant that title to him. It's likely that L's instructions to Watari to delete all the data also prevented Light from ever finding out about Wammy's house. Near never needed more proof than that. It's just that he's a kid and wanted to win his own game his own way, instead of having Light gunned down by assassins as soon as he steps out of his HQ.
