Why should you care about the Mexican league? Apparently, it is the third most popular sports league in North America, with an alternative play-off system and an innovative youth development program. Plus it was the birthplace of a playing style adopted by Pep Guardiola.
Alex Stewart has seven minutes to convince Joe Devine to care about Liga MX.

#LigaMX - Hry
This should have a part 2. I never knew the Liga MX can be so interesting, and I really wanted to know how the Brexit and Band 3 thing now works for the players.
Yeah a Chivas vs America game will be played on Sunday in Houston and that is an exhibition game during a Liga NX international break.
think he was basically saying that it's easy to recruit Mexican players
Give alex more than 7 minutes! My man is spittin
Not that I care much about Liga MX but I feel that 7 mins is not nearly enough time. Give Alex at least 10 mins if he's going to talk about a league!
It's also great you're talking about leagues outside Europe. There's a lot of interesting leagues in South America that produce good players and are a lot of fun to watch or keep track of!
had the same thought as the video was coming to an end, 3 more min would of brought more of spotlight to liga mx.
chance wasted but oh well still fun to watch
I've heard that the skeleton in joe's backyard is mexican
Pissed off the wrong guy
If only this was being produced in a visual medium and Alex could show us, the viewer, these 'really cool kits'.
if only
These really cool kits ruined by 97 sponsor logos.
@@RyanAustinDean The sponsors add to the charm.
@@RyanAustinDean honestly nah
I have an UNAM jersey, which has the distinct giant puma head. I might be one of the only Australians to have one despite never going to Mexico
I never expected you to do a video about Liga MX. As a Chivas fan, I'm so happy to see some appreciation for our league.
I'm a Puebla fan, it's like being shot in the foot every Sunday, but I agree it's nice to hear people talk about the league
Alexis Vega ballond’or
My man's didn't know Chivas and Guadalajara are the same though
America💛💙🦅
As a chivas fan im always big sad whenever I see chivas play
The only way you could improve this is by blindfolding Joe and making him wear AirPods, giving him a catapult and ball bearings, spinning him around until he’s dizzy and giving him 7 minutes to hunt and find Alex as he hides somewhere trying to convince Joe of the merits of Cowdenbeath FC over Bluetooth.
Cool to see my country getting attention, I don’t watch liga MX as much as I used to as I don’t really have a way to watch it, but if any of you are thinking of watching it I’m here to represent Cruz Azul, we aren’t the biggest team but we are competitive and we have a lot of heart.
Yep and Cruz Azul where just recently champions too. 😅
Cruz Azul is the 3rd biggest team in Mexico. It's part of the 4 biggest teams in Mexico.
@@maxbarajas7825 Yeah that’s what I meant when I said “not the biggest but still competitive” keyword being competitive. It’s not like our big status means we win a lot, we barely win that many major trophies so we are definitely not the biggest but still good. Sorry if I was unclear before.
@@Otoskire yeah buddy you're absolutely right!
Joe: *Talks*
Why yes, the things I'm saying are most interesting!
*Care levels rise*
8:01 Alex looks so devastated LOL...
I Hope Alex bring this topic to Tifo Football... heck I want Alex to do the Tifo Football, I think Alex voice sounds ASMR to me.
Hahaha that cold open. How are you Alex? “Yep”
This needs a redo, really interesting video concept and for an informative channel, cutting of mid info is really weird. Can we just have Alex talking about it pls on the main channel or over like a book reading next to the fire place?
Ya gotta give Alex more than 7 minutes lol. I love Joe interrupting and throwing a wrench in Alex’s points, but doing that with only 7 minutes makes it a little tight. I think 10 minutes was much better
I started watching Liga MX two years ago and have to say that it is so much fun. Even games with the lowest team on the table like Tijuana-Monterrey was one of the best games I’ve watched this year. I love how attacking this league is (apart from Cruz azul games). Would highly recommend people watch like an America-Monterrey to get a taste of it
BS alert, the Liga MX is only fun if you have insomnia and need to sleep Also, no relegation or promotions, and even the 12th place can become the champion every 6 months, try watching the games, really, they're mostly awful.
What's wrong with my favorite team cruz azul
I like Tigres
@@pozsoz relegation and promotion is coming back next season
I'm quite interested in Liga MX now, how does the relegation work with the two halves system? how does someone in the UK get access to it? Is the skeleton still in Joe's backyard? More on the players that could be coming through would be cool. Why is it rated so low in bands? Although you said band 3 isn't low, but it feels like if Liga MX is in band 3 shouldn't the Concaf champions league be rated higher than 3? So many question.
There's no relegation at the moment because the 2nd tier is closed off for now but it's not really all that much different from normal relegation/promotion, it's just split into two halves.
There's a bunch of different platforms everywhere but you essentially need a VPN to spoof a Mexican location to ensure you can watch everything, it's definitely a lot more difficult to watch from the UK than US but more than possible
The band system is literally just for how the UK allows work permits, it has no actual meaning to any other league or club, and the CONCACAF Champions League is generally a pretty uncompetitive competition because of the lack of quality football infrastructure in North America leading to it basically just being dominated by Mexican teams. In the past 20 years only 2 non-Mexican teams have won it, those being Saprissa & Alajuelense, who are themselves basically the Liverpool & United of their leagues. They won in 04 + 05, but outside of the occassional MLS team the CONCACAF CL is essentially just another domestic Mexican cup
@@mashfnch30 uhhhh relegation was the shitshow known as the tabla de descenso...
When there was relegation, it was based off average points
There's no relegation but when they did do it, it was the lowest combined points of the last 3 years or seasons if I remember right
@@firstnamelastname-up6ni Oh huh I genuinely didn't know that that sounds like cancer
Try playing in Liga MX in football manager.
Really fun but madness.
Madness and despair.
I've never screamed while having fun in Football Manager that much before
How was the scouting? Did you scout talent from North and South America?
@@Ginga I genrally tend to work with academy players, so I relied heavily on homegrown talent.
Mexico is a great country to produce talents.
@@JohnsonP Agreed. Feel the national team should do much better than they’ve performed over the past couple decades.
as a mexican, it was kind of awkward to listen many things that were wrong about Liga Mx (like the thing about the two champions of every year and when Alex stated that américa and guadalajara were the only teams that had never been relegated), but i’ll go along with it because i can’t believe you are talking about this beautiful and crazy league
As much as I love Joe's irreverence, I want to pile on the "Alex deserves a part 2!" camp. Always interesting to see a foreign perspective of our league.
Also, there's a lot of money and power around the relegation system and it's generally horrible, but this was an interesting outlook on the current "closed league" status.
Give us part 2!!
Liga Mx has some of the most entertaining finals in football. Last minute goals scored by a keeper, a 4-0 first leg come back. It’s so exited
More like; "why should any of us care about this series? " am I right!?
Jk, I absolutely love the dynamic and symphatize with Joe as his jokes always fall flat.
Thank you for doing a piece on Liga MX! As a Mexican and a big fan of your tifo channel since it begun, this was a great surprise!
Nearly downvoted because of Joe's timewasting and terrible jokes, really wanted to hear the rest of Alex's pitch! (But if it was easy, this series wouldn't be such awesome fun!)
So here's my idea for a "red card" sequel - JOE has to to spend a few minutes displaying each team's shirt, telling us an interesting factoid or two about each team. And of course he is required to look totally enthusiastic throughout....
Downvoted
This series is basically like show and tell in school, but Alex brings interesting literature instead of power rangers and dragons
4:15 man said “SHHEEEVAAASSS” in lowercase..... like it that isn’t the Guadalajara team he mentioned earlier 🤦🏽 but it’s Chivas de Guadalajara
"The goats of Guadalajara."
Chiva = goat
Your comment is literally irrelevant. I meant it as he verbal pronunciation sounded just a tad off, it CHivas not SHIvas.@@josecasillas4081
FM OG's know Liga MX is the place to find the phenomenal young guns for cheap
Pretty sure you were right by name dropping the NFL. The NBA is much more popular outside the US than inside the States. I remember that last year's opening game of that NFL season, easily beat the ratings of the final game (6) of the NBA finals the summer before.
Alex also said MLB but baseball has taken the back seat to the NBA nowadays
Not really a one to one comparison for most sports with the NFL. They play much fewer games so each one is a massive event.
@@fighterck6241 you are right, although I would say the NBA (82) and MLB (used to be 164) just have an absurd amount of games. The 17 game weeks in the NFL are really comparable to a World Football pace, just shortened until February.
He’s not wrong the NFL. Is killing the NBA and other professional sports leagues in ratings here in the US
Videos are great and while I enjoy Joe as a charakter it's extremely annoying that he doesn't give Alex the time to make his points. I would have like to learn more about Liga MX.
I’m an American who loves liga mx and I would love for u guys to do more content on them Bc it’s a very interesting league with a lot of history and passion even many connections to English football historically through Club Pachuca
What made me care about Liga MX: randomly deciding to play an Ascenso MX team in Football Manager. I went from "hmm, odd structure for the seasons" and "wait, what do you mean I can't get promoted for five years?" to a burning desire to win everything once I did go up, which of course lead to my deep-seated hatred for Club America.
Love this channel. Great content guys
I laughed out loud when I see Joe's reaction to Scottish Premier League.
i saw a Liga MX game live in Mexico City, it was incredible!!
Liga MX is great! Super fast attacking football, definitely worth a watch.
Why Should I Care About The Skeleton in Joe's Garden?
If you're gonna get someone to talk about a league, 7 mins is not enough. I was pissed that he never got to finish due to unnecessary interruptions and bad jokes.
There has to be a part 2 on Liga MX cos Alex has lots of information that need sharing.
You forgot that the legends Dani Rojas and Santiago Muñez came from there
Very good video. I think Liga MX is important as it is a good platform for mexicos best young players to show their potential, examples including Raul Jimenez, Javier Hernandez, Carlos Vela, Carlos Salcido and Giovani Dos Santos
Alex needs his own segment on Tifo without Joe's interruptions
Given the power trip that Joe likes to go on in these videos, it amazes me when I remind myself that Alex is nearly a decade his senior......😂😂😂
4:38 “Toluca very good” 😭
Curious because of Gignac. Stayed because of the chaos.
The face Alex made when Joe interrupted his list was priceless. Made my day
I want all of Alex's t'shirts! They are awesome, HE IS AWESOME as well
Theres a great mexican Netflix series called Club de Cuervos that parodies some of the problems of Liga Mx... Alex made a great case for liga mx 👏
As a Cruz Azul fan, I love seeing content on Liga MX. I hope you guys keep on producing more Liga MX content!
Alex needs double the time honestly, incredibly well learned man
I'd like to see Ian do one on football manager with Alex
I love that Wolverhampton Wanderers shirt on Alex!
Thanks for the vid
I dare you to do one on the sse airtricity league (Ireland). It'll be next to impossible to make that genuinely interesting
Liga MX is somewhere between lower-tier EPL/ Bundesliga to mid-tier Erdevisie
The style of play reminds a lot of Erdevisie - all out offense with very little defense
There are a lot of technical players across the field, with 5'5 target men winning headers. Its a thing of beauty actually
Alex's shirt is awesome.
This is very informative. It would help if it would have less interventions and the information would be allowed to flow.
Also, he had around 30 more seconds remaining, as added time 🤔
I need a physical dial for Joe's care-o-meter and a possible expected xC of care
I'm Mexican-American and my family and I have always watched Liga MX. The league, however, and Mexican football doesn't really get the global respect it deserves imo and hopefully this video gives it more exposure. It is a super competitive and entertaining league and houses a lot of great players. There are lots of exciting young players in the league who deserve a shot in Europe so I would love a part 2 to learn more about how Brexit has kickstarted this Liga Mx - Premier League pipeline. (I'm assuming Santiago Muñoz who transferred from Santos to Newcastle United is one of the first few to follow suit )
Chivas(I will mostly mispronounce guadalara) their owner used to own chivas usa in mls.
One more interesting part about the team is they are basically a Mexican athletic club of Spain, they only sign Mexican players
This is a good introduction. But a much longer video is a good topic for the IRL.
these why should i care videos are probably the jewel in the crown that is the tifo irl youtube channel
They should've gave Alex more than 10 minutes. He was AMAZING!
That wolves t-shirt 😍
We need part two....
Come on guys make a part 2!
This should have a segment after to let alex finish where joe isn’t there. Cuz i wanna hear about this band 3 stuff.
I'm playing liga MX on FM Mobile. Good little league
Very interesting league. But to watch it in so unsuitable time is very difficult)
Love the CONCACAF coverage
Need one The Primeira Liga video.. I know they are entertaining and recently they are back and part of Top 5 Leagues dethroning Ligue 1
Didnt mention the biggest club stadium in the world before recent decrease
Chivas and Guadalajara are actually the same team. Chivas being the team's nickname, meaning 'goats' in Spanish. I was appalled that you didn't even mention Club Puebla, which is my local team and the most followed Mexican football club in South America (for some reason).
The wolves top 👀
Its an incredible league and it was beautiful to see Cruz Azul win
Every video of why should I care I always care n I learn some new
the reason i watch the liga mx is because it's on late night for me, so it's something enjoyable to watch after a day of hard work.
I can’t find the shirt Alex is wearing anywhere. If anyone finds it plz tell me
Wish it had a uk broadcaster
Please cover more liga MX so I can get the love back to see it again XD. I go for Pumas UNAM although they have had very bad presidents the last years, anyways mexican football is very rich in history so yeah give it one more try please. Saludos desde Tijuana.
I want a part 2
What I'll say is ironic but I love Alex's enthusiasm here.
Alex says Liga MX having a closed league is for youth development (the league does say that), but corruption, TV deals and "friends in power" are the real reasons behind it, sadly. Alex talks about it as a progressive measure and, while it isn't IMO, it's nice because of how much negativity there is anyways towards it in the mexican football world, justifiably so.
In other words, while everyone in Mexico talks trash about our own league, listening to Alex talk about it in a positive way is nice and refreshing.
Great video!
Part 2 please
I demand an episode about raccoons!
Please do a video about Steven berghuis
That Wolves shirt is absolutely fab!
I love this series.
Also aren't Chivas and Guadalajara the same team...?
Yup, but there are 2 teams in Guadalajara, Chivas and Atlas.
Give Alex extra time to account for stoppages by Lord Joe
"That's high. It's on a par with the SPL"
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Alex, you card!
Kinda wanted to hear those names and flex my hipster knowledge later. Bad Joe.
You should def give Alex more time for these
Please give Alex more time 🥲, please Tifo
Anyone know where I can get Alex's shirt
I wanna hear more about liga MX
In all seriousness, can we get a full video on Liga MX
GIVE ALEX A LIGA MX VIDEO NEEEOWWWWWWW
Why joe devine should care Dan James at Leeds + Maxwell Cornet at Burnley
More liga MX please 😍
Part 2!!!!!!!!
I wish Alex had at least 10 minutes to cover LigaMX because he really provides great information that most people don't know about, like when he taught Salida LaVolpiada my first reaction was: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Then I realized how widely used that tactic is in modern football.
My guy Alex wearing a Wolves t-shirt.
Feel bad he spent days researching and preparing just to get cut off😂 banging series tho
Every Mexican, Mexican-American, Mexican-Other Nationality liked this vid.
Loving that Wolves shirt :)
