First time I saw “Superjail” was on the TV in JAIL. I was on Trustee status (inmate worker), so we had more privileges, etc, and better living quarters. We stayed in the jail’s old basketball gym, converted into a cell-block by adding iron bunk beds. We were able to watch TV until 2am, or sometimes all night (and many of us had pills/weed snuck in, so we could chill and relax)…I watched Superjail late one night on Adult Swim and knew it would be my favorite cartoon of all time. Super-violent animation reminiscent of Lewis Carroll and John Wayne Gacy on an infinite Acid Trip.

Superjail is the metaphysical construct of our minds. The criminal is the one who feels entitled to break free from the chains of society. The most poignant part of the show is that it's juxtaposed being that the people in prison can't get out and can't function without going straight back and vice versa. It's a tale about perspective and the fact that we all make our own prisons
