Real-time analytics at Airbnb is fluid and straightforward. This talk describes the solutions developed using Thrift, Kafka, Spark Streaming, Druid and Superset. Along the way, we will do a full tour of Superset and get to understand how it surpassed Tableau to become the most popular analytics tool at Airbnb. Superset is an open source, enterprise-ready, data exploration, visualization and dashboarding web application that integrates nicely with Druid as well as any SQL-speaking database. Attendees will get to understand how realtime analytics work at Airbnb while getting an extensive demo of Superset.

I just watched this presentation, pretty old but so nice to see where Max has taken Superset. So much growth! and now with Preset company with focus on Superset potential, I feel that the future is limitless!
I love all of Maxime's presentations and his passion for everything he is doing. As well whenever he needs something that does not exist he justs builds it like Airflow, Superset and many more to come. Really nice to see his work and putting it out there free of charge as an open-source project. Thanks a lot for sharing!

How to connect druid to superset? I have druid running and superset as well. I have ingested data using kafka but I cannot seem to be able to connect druid to superset! I really need help

Looks great! I'm curious: why does Airbnb management agree to let their engineers work on an open source project that benefits other companies, including competitors?
Because the cost of building everything you use by yourself, or buying them from vendors, is larger than the costs of sharing software that is not central to your business. It works because AirBnB is not the only company doing open source, every other tech giant does.
