Anthem of Paraguay - "Paraguayos, República o Muerte" (Instrumental)

Paraguayos, República o Muerte (Paraguayans, Republic or Death!) is the national anthem of Paraguay. The author of the poems is Francisco Acuña de Figueroa, who is also the author of the text Orientales, la Patria o la Tumba!. The official date for completion of the writing of the anthem is considered to be May 20, 1846.

Paraguayos, ¡República o Muerte!
nuestro brío nos dio libertad;
ni opresores, ni siervos alientan
donde reina unión e igualdad.
A los pueblos de América, infausto
tres centurias un cetro oprimió,
mas un día soberbia surgiendo,
«¡Basta!» -dijo, y el cetro rompió.
Nuestros padres, lidiando grandiosos,
ilustraron su gloria marcial;
y trozada la augusta diadema,
enalzaron el gorro triunfal.
