      Thanks Jeff, This is probably the most important car in my life to me. Ive been fascinated with it as long as i can remember. Most people's dream car is some sort of exotic supercar(Lambo,Ferrari, etc) Mines been an Australian Falcon Coupe . Imagine Cruising OC in one of those in the spring show. Did you get any Tornado damage Friday? Frederick county got hit hard in some areas

    • @jeffbaker2897
      @jeffbaker2897 Před 4 lety +1

      Hodge's Hot Wheels and diecast No tornado but we did have high winds anywhere from 45 to 70 knots in spots, some trees down in some areas around Eastern shore, here in Wicomico Co. and surrounding counties minor flooding, but drying out fairly well. If ya did have the Australian Falcon coupe at OC cruiser week I have no doubt that you would get public attention for sure, that would be super! I know that Md Rt. 528 Ocean hwy , you would have to do a hole shot or two somewhere on that road, LOL 😆, It’s hard to resist! I used to have a 67 Caddy, 429cid, 4bbl, dual exhaust, living room on wheels 😆, loved cruising on Balt Ave & Philadelphia Ave (Md. 528). But the OC police, Wor Co sheriff dept & M S P were in full force and SHA had a fake work zones set up in spots to cut down on drag racing , makes it more of a pain in the ass for cruisin around also. Well George, you take care& be careful on the roads this week buddy, see ya on your next build.😎👍👍👍🚗

    George, what did you do to the lights? They look like they're lit with leds. The Mad Max stuff isn't really my thing but this one looks good. The original paint seems to have helped you out and it took the washes perfectly. Does anyone do 1:64 scale figures of the guy and the dog? That would finish it off perfectly.
    Cheers for now,
    Dougie.

      @@hodgeshotwheelsanddiecast5192 It might be worth trying that same technique on a more "normal" custom; the lights look fantastic. Maybe it's just the lighting or the camera but they really do look "lit" in the reveal shot. If you decide to use the Mad Max figure, you might get a suitable dog from Preiser or one of the other model railway suppliers. Ho(1:87) or OO(1:76) might look slightly under-sized but you could possibly find something suitable. Alternatively, the Matchbox 42B Studebaker or 64B MG had dogs; could maybe do something clever with one of them.
      As usual George, I'm just thinking aloud.😁
      Cheers for now,
      Dougie.

Id love to get my hands on a monaro or a Sandman one day. On a side note. Some of our Caprice Police cars over here are your 366hp LS powered Commodores. Im seeing them pop up on govt auction sites with only 100thousand miles for 4-5000 bucks. Thinking of picking one up since they are truly the last of the V8s

    You are incorrect stating the movie car had "square" headlamps from the XC Aussie Falc. The entire front end of the movie car was a aftermarket kit and the headlamps were NOT factory Ford. The optional XC lamp s were rectangles that were half the width of the above mentioned headlamps.
    The movie was made during the last years of the van fad in OZ. Those are van wheels on the movie car. The side exhaust pipes were for vans as were the "wheel arch" flares. OZ Ford built six vans ("sedan deliveries" in the States) that used the complete kit, and those cars were driven by factory reps in the six sales districts.
    The rear spoiler was an aftermarket item NOT inspired by the U.S. Camaro. The design was first used on an earlier Lola GT! Later the design was used by the factory on the limited run Falcon "Cobra" which ended the run of the Aussie Ford V 8 (XC Falcs w/ 6 cylinders stayed in production) Those Falcs were white with twin blue racing stripes ( which is the traditional racing colors for U.S. built cars !?!).
    Funny thing, the Aussie Falcs of that era basically used the same floor chassis/platform as the North American Fairlane and Falcon. I took advantage of that to keep my privately imported XC Ute on the roads here in the States. But no body panels interchanged and lead the final retirement of my ride. I could have obtained the body mod kit as used in the movie car but decided it was unique enough simply because it was in the States and left the body stock.

      @@hodgeshotwheelsanddiecast5192 Had a Ute. Bought it about 1986 and the rocker panels were gone by 95 (Ford OZ worries about dust, not rust). Didn't have a place to do the body work and destrrmined it was time to part company. The Aussie Falcs had some flaws but were better then the North America Fairlane. Biggest problem came in the form of the difference in U.S. and Aussie light regulations. The Aussie brake lights are DARK compared to up here. Every time I applied the brakes (Aussie Falcs stopped shorter then all U.S. vehicles except the Vette, whose brakes were produced in OZ!) I braced for a rear ender. I lucked out on the headlamps as US beams bolted in and threw the light to the right, not left as in OZ.
      Bought the Ute to see how Ford products differ around the World, got a good education!
