Two weeks ago I went to Dingla of Nepal to do some research on rudrakshya. Few facts that the shopkeeper told are true. But the last thing that 1 mukhi rudraksha is not true. I talked with more than 20 farmers and traders who have been farming rudraksha for more than 40 years and they told that they have never seen a 1 mukhi rudraksha.

@@narendrareddy2421 the harvesting time is usually in September and October. You can easily fly from Kathmandu to a place called tumlingtar. From there, Dingla is around 1 hour ride on a car. You can basically talk to anyone local and they are either one or the other way involved in rudraksha trade

Rudrakxa trees are found in eastern part of Nepal(SankhuwaSabha, Bhojpur, Dhankuta) & place called Khandbari is regarded as Rudrakhxa capital. One simple question, why can't people selling rudraksha from Nepal wear one and become rich, why are they selling?

The reason behind this is because people did not know the value of the Rudraksha back then in Nepal. Rudraksha trees are widely available in the Northeaster hills of Nepal: specially where my ancestors are from. Back then they used 'Rudraksha fruits' as a forage for cattles and pigs. Sometimes they used to eat the inner pulp of the rudraksha fruits which when still raw and at early stage of its growth has a whiter inner portion; which taste sweeter.
My elder relatives have fondly relate me stories about how Jogi's (in Nepal, Sadhu/ Yogi were addressed as Jogi in general ) who would visit the village and ask for Rudraksha, something about 55 60 years ago. The villagers used to gift Rudraksha beads as an alms to those travelling Jogi's and in return receive blessing. Jogi's always left the village happily then. (In Nepal Jogi's are widely accepted as a sacred person and are offered alms if they visit homes). But over the years due to imposter's, the faith in their sacredness has gradually declined.
35 years ago, not many knew about the importance of Rudraksha. Ever since the popularity and the demand of Rudraksha beads have gone up so is its value. Over the last 25 to 30 years, Rudraksha beads from North Eastern Nepal has got good market. Firstly, it received a good interest from Indian market and now there are interests from China too.
Many villagers from the hills of Northeaster Nepal have Rudraksha tree plantation now. Once those trees were of no value, now every year a single Rudraksha tree with good fruits can be worth a millions Nepali rupees. Few of my relatives have Rudraksha trees that produces good harvest. But this does not mean every Rudraksha tree can produce. Only few lucky trees gives you good yield. As said here, the rare '21 mukhi Rudraksha' the one and only, was also harvested from one of the lucky tree from the village and was sold for around 26lakhs Nepali rupees many years ago. But that was not the first time a '21 mukhi Rudraksha' was grown there. Like mentioned, they are a rarest of the rarest occurrence.
Rudraksha due to its association with 'Paruhang' ( Hindu text mention him as kirateswor mahadev but we call him Paruhang. In other word Paruhang is lord Shiva and in our culture we venerate Paruhang and Sumnima as our ancestors.) is widely used for religious purpose and the believe in its energy. Since Northeastern Nepali do not know the true essence of Rudraksha bead they are not commonly used as much as in India. If one visits Nepal, you ll witness Rudraksha beads being used for various purposes.
