      Big huevos to dive under that weight. U know a lot of lifters would have Clarke. He weighed about the same as when he did the 209, 76+ kg. To Chong was light also 78 kg.

      2018 was a 73kg and did 155/187
      Now, 78kg bw 165/209, I think he is more than ready to do
      165-170 snatch
      209-215 c&j 2024-->

    This Qatar cup has been better than the last worlds in Saudi Arabia. So many highly competitive sessions. Glad to see north Korea back. They have some fierce and tough lifters.

      The 374 total would have qualified him for Paris in the 89s if North Korea was eligible. He didn’t even fill out the class weighing 78 kg.

    It's a real shame we lost the 81 category from the Olympics, I'd love to see what Rahmat could do if he filled out this weight class

      Maybe they’ll have it in 2028 alternating it every other Olympics 73/81 89/96 102/109. It really sucks that weightlifting can’t get all its classes in the Olympics but that’s what happens when you’ve been a bad boy. It wasn’t automatic that weightlifting got back in for LA 2028. Touch and go for a while.

      @@johndoherty-hh2ck It won't be as fun to watch though because we've seen how far the human body can lift things with drugs. 400 kilogram total was the norm for heavyweights now it's not. There needs to be an untested side of weightlifting.

    His front leg is bended at jerk position. Thought it's more ideal to keep it vertical, is it a technique issue or do some people really get better jerk by place weight on front leg?

    It's like a deadlift with a hip thrust, incredible how he can get under that. I feel like taking a breath before the jerk threw off his rhythm, he's still inhaling as he's dipping. If he could get that down, he could make it

    Is it just me or does Rahmats technique almost look like he hitches the bar? Like the bar is pulled so slowly that prior to starting his second pull, you can see him really driving the bar back into position with his lats/arms. The drive back with his upper body is relatively faster than the actual first pull that it doesn’t decrease the acceleration of the bar as those learning to lift would usually have it.

    Rahmat's pulls are SO slow. And still he gets under it every single time. But most impressive is: He does most of his lifts in 1 breath. That man's just built different.

    Both lifters weight less than 81 kg so they will probably compete in the Olympics as a 73. Shi Zhiyong is going to have his hands full

      North Korea's not eligible to compete at the Olympics cus they kicked WADA out of thier country so there's no unannounced testing of any of their athletes. They are literally only tested in competition. Why the IWF allows them to compete I do not know; it's probably this attitude that's getting weightlifting reduced and potentially kicked out of the Olympics. This is North Korea's big shabang whereas other athletes are saving their max peak for the Olympics.

      NK lifter is qualified in 81 kg category so he will compete in 81 kg. Rahmat qualified in 73 kg & 81 kg category and Rahmat will choose 73 category in Paris

      There’s no 81 kg class in Paris for men. Unfortunately for Ri Chong no North Korean weightlifters are eligible to compete because NK didn’t allow drug testing for about four years.

    North Korea weightlifter does not have a "weightlifting shoes", he uses a Chinese brand running shoes with 2 hard blocks sticking under the heels, if anyone noticed it!

      This whole competition the judges looked like they didn't care about elbow wobble. Multiple times already I've seen a lift and thought there's no way they'd pass it but they passed it anyway. Don't remember all but I remember Ritvars Suharevs looking pretty wobbly in his 180 clean and jerk but he got it anyway.

    The Korean lifter's heels are so close together and his toes are pointed out more when he pulls. I'd think it would make pulling the weight harder, but he doesn't seem to struggle at all.

      @@ComradeQuestion42069 Im not sure, but i think it's to do with clueing the legs to open sideways, when receiving the bar during snatch/clean, since there's no way that you could maintain that leg position when receiving the bar and still standing, youd be crushed😅

    I don't understand Rahmat's clean technique. I see that it is generally continuously accelerating. But it moves so slow. Then Boom it is on his shoulders. To my it looks like he just clean deadlifts. Then just hip cleans. And some how it is there.

      У Эрвина Рахмата, несмотря на относительно медленную тягу, потом следует очень мощный подрыв с идеальным раскрытием и далее он очень точно принимает штангу, хорошо подворачивая локти и подставляя идеально прямую спину! Да, в этот раз 214(!!!) не удалось толкнуть с груди...но всё ещё впереди! Дуэль с корейцем была очень захватывающей.Будем ждать их следующей встречи.
