    I find myself ordering vegan items more often lately even though I’m not vegan. So much stuff these days tastes almost the same while having a lower impact on the environment so I’m loving it!

      I think homemade british food is very delicious. The problem is that many don't do things from scratch. I was kinda the only one who got a host family that made mashed potatoe from scratch; the rest got served mostly heated up food.

    My tip is: Don’t disrespect the food by comparing it to meat or dairy counterparts. The amazing thing about plant foods is that they stand on their own; enjoy them as they are. When you’re trying to compare it to something else, you’re missing out on it’s unique flavors and textures that make it better. Much love and glad the message is getting out there, save the animals and Mother Earth! 🙏💕🌷

    This video made me want to go to Mildreds for the "English breakfast" but I checked their website and it seems like they only serve it on the weekends. I'm going to travel to London for a few days in summer but it will be weekdays. Anyone know any good vegan "English breakfast" during weekdays in London?

    I cheat a lot at home. Some of the bought vegan products that I think are really good.
    Happy Veggie World, a Taiwanese company, with distribution in Vancouver. Their vegan bacon is the best.
    I really like Gardein fish fillets.
    JustEgg is a really tasty egg replacer. I have made vegan yorkshire puds for years, usually add a bit of besan and aquafaba, but justegg, really improves them. Sometimes I add the starch from washed flour seitan.
    English sausages are more difficult. When I was vegetarian I used to eat Cauldron foods sausages, when I lived in England. Beyond sausages started with an English sausage version, which seems to have disappeared. Only Italian sausages available. I thought they were too realistic, lumps of grizzle and all. Breakfast links replacements are the closest. PC own brand. But the best I make my own using Happy Veggie world vegan ham and blend English herbs and spices.
    My mushroom vegan gravy goes with all roast dinner substitutes.
    So questions for people in England. Have Cauldron foods gone vegan? Does Quorn produce vegan sausages now. Only the USA sells Quorn over here, and not the full range.
    I also remember Linda McCartney did vegetarian steak pies. Is a vegan version available now and is it any good. What about her sausages?

    I am not vegan but it looks great to me. Vegan bacon is only good at real passionated spots that experiment themselves in my opinion not the store bought ones and there too many tries (ingredients, method). In NY there is a sandwich shop that has amazing vegan mushroom bacon. Tipp: do not try Gordon Ramsay's vegan recipes, they are mostly bad 🙈

    banana flower isn't an alternative to fish and beet isn't an alternative to beef. these substitutes are severely lacking in protein. banana flower and beet are healthy, but they should eaten as vegetables not as protein substitutes. there are many healthy plant based recipes around. i wish channels would focus more on that instead of this trendy bling nonsense.

    • @flow4458
      @flow4458 Před 2 lety +11

      Hi there, I am a vegan athlete and I do eat beets and banana blossoms instead of meat. You shouldn't be trying to replicate the exact nutrient profile of the thing you are replacing. Also, nobody eats banana blossom fish every single day. There's plenty of plant foods that are chock full of protein, actually a lot of them even higher than what you'd try to replicate with it like tofu instead of scrambled eggs or seitan instead of meat...the vegan alternative will never be as high in fat, might be higher in iron, lower in magnesium, higher in copper, lower in certain enzymes, it won't have the exact same amino acid profile, it won't have the exact same fatty acid profile, it might be higher in polyphenoles, list goes on.
      All I'm trying to say is: It's great there are these alternatives and nobody eats them on a regular basis. Even if you were: Not every non-vegan meal is extremely high in protein and it's more likely to eat - even for vegans - more protein than you need than less if you're hitting your calories.

    • @ilickgrandmas2854
      @ilickgrandmas2854 Před 2 lety +1

      No one was talking about nutrition lmao it's supposed to mimic the taste and/or texture for those who crave it and don't want to pay for animal abuse - not be a source of protein. There's hundreds of great vegan protein sources and people with half a braincell won't be eating banana blossom with the goal of getting protein out of it lol
