    Working in a school our decision to drop Adobe and go to Affinity suite has saved us thousands each year. Seriously big savings, it was up around $15k a year and that was with a limited seat, now we spend under $6k and everyone in the school inc staff can use it, install it at home etc. with around 1500 students and 160 staff that’s a bargain. Of course some cried that Adobe is the industry standard and all that bs, but they never used to be so it doesn’t mean something else can’t take their spot. The programs are so similar that you can migrate to either in no time. Affinity keeps getting better and I’m happy to stick with them and see it grow.

      Wow amazing! you should drop that story to Affinity I believe they're looking for stories like that. And you're totally correct, once you understand Affinity and how everything works (layers, brushes, etc, etc) it would be a simple transfer to Adobe if needed.

      That’s a fairly recent change, until quite recently you had to buy separate licenses for each. You couldn’t even switch from one platform to another on the same license so if you had the Windows versions but decided to move over to Mac then you needed to buy all new licenses.

This meant I had to replace (rebuy) every program I owned plus the work I'd done would likely not transfer. I argued that PC was already catching up and were cheaper. Problems with Adobe: cost and very bloated programs. Problems with Affinity: they lack DAM software or anything to organize your pics and workflow, very dissapointing. Problems with DaVinci: you need a powerful computer.
    Problems with subscription vs perpetual licence. It depends on the price: even if you own the software "forever" you only get updates for the major version you purchased, and after a few years, your software will be obsolete, unsuported and unsafe.

    The Adobe + Affinity skilset does pay off and I can only recommend creatives to diversify to at least one solid alternative to Adobe, not to be left without options. I switch between both suites, specifically with Illustrator and Affinity Designer and the only reason i still keep my Adobe skills sharp is because boss pays for the license and industry standard, otherwise I would've switched to Affinity solo no problem, as I tend to lean to Serif's software anyway. UI and interface feels so much better, despite Affinity still lacking high-end options like AI integration.
    Upgraded to the Affinity V2 universal licence when it dropped and I couldn't be happier. In the current software "meta", with the plague of subcription plans going rampant, companies like Serif deserve all the endorsement.

    Best part, there was an Adobe Acrobat ad on this video, lol. I use Affinity everyday. Two things I have noticed. I don't think the healing tools and brushes are as strong in Affinity as Adobe. looking at what other photographers can do via heal/stamp/clone, Affinity lags a bit. Same with brushes for retouching. They work differently, so you have to play with the settings more to understand what the Affinity brushes are doing. If I was a commercial photographer working for brands, Adobe all the way. BUT. as an individual, hobbyist, etc, you can't beat what Affinity offers for the price. I don't understand and do not like the RAW tone mapping, but I use Capture One for all my RAW processing and editing anyway. Affinity is all graphic design, retouching, and if I can ever get my shit together, a photo book. Maybe a magazine.
    Bottom line, if you don't know which to get, get Affinity. If there is zero doubt due to your employment situation and what others are using and expect, and you have to go along to get along, in those cases, Adobe is the standard.

    I started buying Adobe when they released the first version of the app. And continued to update until 3 years ago. Adobe remains, hands down, the best software of it's kind. However, 3 years ago, while using Adobe, one of my plugins was not working. Having a bit of OCD, I wouldn't let it go. I contacted Adobe, and they said unless I upgraded to Windows 10, I could no longer use Photoshop. They cut me off. Interesting thing is, it was working before I called. So I cut them off! I did some research, turns out it's Microsoft. Adobe is the software giants bitch now. By the way, so is Epson printing company. I have all of the alternatives, but have been using Affinity Photo ever since. My assessment, Adobe is still better, but I will continue to use Affinity. But to be fair, they have a long way to go, and they have doubled in price since I bought it. I, further predict, that Affinity will eventually follow Adobe's pricing structure.

Daz Studio is not bad either. I have been with them from the beginning Daz does get expensive. The software is free, but you'll want all of the cool 3D content from the creators. Hey,
      No option for generative fill and from what I understand from a recent Serif reply to a customer they won't be adding any 'AI/ML tools' to directly 'create' something, but will add AI for workflow tasks.

    Affinity photo has been badly let down by Serif, its lagging well behind now - I don't use Adobe, but I wouldn't recommend Photo either......

      @bydesignmethod  Před 4 měsíci

      what stock footage? not in this video. The only thing close to providing quality video like this at the moment is SORA AI which isn't available to the public yet, even then the hands never look right yet.

    if £50 a month is expensive then you are not running your business right 😂😂😂😂 this is such an amateur hour

      totally agree; my step father was a carpenter, always buying tools, used a car for work, employed an accountant, spent a little on advertising etc, all of it paid for by his clients (i mean, who else, right?); would have found it very odd that guys couldn't stick $50 a month on their bills to cover the cost of their main tool;

      If you're running a business and can't afford that I agree.
      However if you're new to graphic design, hobbyist, you live in a country like mine going through the worst economic times in 20 years, you live in a poorer country, or you simply can't afford it Affinity is the easy answer.
      I could out design tons of people who use Photoshop, it's not always the tool.
      Also if you DO run a business you could license tons of designers for 1/3 the cost.

      @bydesignmethod who said everyone can be a designer. The world is so entitled these days, people got sold this idea that you can do or be anything.... which is bs.

      Never seen someone so mad or entitled because they use Adobe, calling millions of people who use another piece of software as amateur. Think about what you're saying man. @@yeah-I-know

      @@bydesignmethod 😂 ok fella, suit yourself, I hope you will one day experience how people take advantage of those who work hard to achieve their goals. Keep living in a bubble. Lastly, I never said I am better (entitled) using Adobe products... but seems using the free software somehow gives you the higher moral ground in your opinion. Salut!
