That's what the original kitchen vent looked like at my house. That one is mint compared to the one here! I replaced it with the mystery exhaust fan in the late 90's.
I think it needs some oil or a good cleaning, that’s probably why it is so loud, it may also be loose or worn out, causing a vibration, neat fan though!
The 5 blades looks like condenser fan for fridge.
